My ideal client is motivated to improve their quality of life and may struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and grief/trauma related issues. They are interested in understanding themselves and cultivating healthy coping strategies to deal with the challenges of our modern world, with the ultimate goal of thriving, not just surviving. They understand that we all have the opportunity to continue growing and want to live a more self-expressed life by identifying and challenging negative and self-limiting thinking patterns. I compassionately support and validate my clients, while also encouraging them to take on the challenges in their life. I have significant experience with mindfulness practices and believe in the power of creativity (writing, music, art) as a therapeutic tool. Most people are settling for less than what their lives can possibly be. I am committed to helping you lead a self-expressed life and to help you see all the ways that you are a gift to yourself and others. I do not have all the answers, but I believe that together we can inspire each other and produce breakthroughs you may not think are possible.

Hi there! I'm Sarah, an artist, art therapist and mental health counselor. Talking to a new person about the hards parts of your life can feel deeply vulnerable! Whether it’s coming to therapy for the first time, returning after a break, or transitioning therapists, I understand the bravery and inner strength that reaching out for help requires. I aim to make the process of coming to therapy easy by making folks feel respected, safe, and understood. I provide space where people can be human, laugh/cry, share truths, and practice new skills. Humor is something I like to incorporate into therapy; however, we can be serious about your concerns too. People of all ages struggle with human suffering and sometimes you need someone to walk with you through that, whether it be something you wish to change or something that you cannot. I aim to help my clients make meaning in life while also identifying the connections between our individual concerns and larger systems in life. I provide individual therapy for a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, identity exploration, and trauma, with specialized experience supporting people through grief, traumatic loss, and substance use concerns. My clients have expressed appreciation for my ability to sit with them in their suffering, when they have felt most alone. I have multiple years of experience previously working in college counseling centers. During these experiences, I supported students from a variety of backgrounds and found a lot of joy in helping students at a unique intersection in their lives. I have been lucky to work with a diverse student population and have supported many queer and trans students in exploring their gender and sexual identities while also addressing other mental health concerns. In addition, I was able to support BIPOC students as they addressed systemic issues within the university, while also exploring their individual racial identities. I further co-facilitated a family-trauma group during my time at a university counseling center. Thus, I find that I greatly appreciate being able to sit with students who are addressing these concerns. I am a Psychologist Resident in OR. I have my doctorate and five years of experience providing therapy, however, to become licensed in OR I must complete a supervised residency. I am supervised by Dr. Carrie McMullin (OR 2963).
