My name is Dr. Laura Pantaleo and I am a licensed clinical psychologist based out of New York. I specialize in individual therapy for adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management and life transitions. I also provide support around understanding and making meaning from psychedelic experiences. As your therapist, my priority will be to foster a non-judgmental environment where you feel safe and validated so that you can be empowered to do the hard work to make changes in your life. In addition to founding Quiet Mind Psychology, I am an adjunct clinical supervisor to current doctoral students at NYU Steinhardt.
I am a very warm, approachable, and down-to-earth practitioner who has been complimented for my ability to make all people feel comfortable while sharing their stories. My areas of specialization include affirmative care for LGBTQ+ and gender-expansive teens and adults as well as management of stress, anxiety, depression, and adjustment to life transitions in adults and adolescents. I am also the Director of Social Work at a high school in New York City where I have worked for 12 years. I deeply value the relationship built between therapist and client, and I rely on it as we dive deep into challenging topics. While I believe the therapist and client relationship alone can be a uniquely healing force, I also infuse elements of many therapeutic modalities into my work depending on the client's individual needs. When working with adolescents, I find it vital to include caregivers in the conversation and the work.

You deserve support that helps you feel grounded, focused, and able to grow during this time. I take a strengths-based approach, recognizing the resilience and determination you already bring. As a parent who completed my degree while working full-time, I understand firsthand the challenges of balancing multiple roles. That experience shapes how I help students build boundaries, stay focused, and create sustainable strategies for success. I work best with students who want more than a space to vent. Together, we focus on practical tools, clearer direction, and meaningful change you can apply in daily life. I especially enjoy supporting working parents, adult learners, and first-generation college students navigating anxiety, cultural or family pressures, identity concerns, and relationship stress. As a bilingual (English/Spanish) LCSW with over 10 years of experience, I provide a supportive, structured space to help you feel more confident, connected, and empowered in college and beyond.

Life can feel overwhelming these days, and meaningful relationships, joys and values can be hard to sustain. The coping patterns we adopt often get in the way of feeling better, and connected with others. My practice fosters an empathetic environment where clients are at ease exploring emotions and concerns. Collaboratively, we address issues such as anxiety, depression and self-esteem struggles, and tackle problems such as relationship difficulties, life transitions, loss and school-related stressors. Jointly, we will define concrete goals, develop real-life coping skills and become more aware of underlying barriers to well-being. I am an LCSW (NYU) with a psychodynamic approach. I also draw on techniques from mindfulness-based therapies and trauma-informed methodologies. A former art history professor and undergraduate advisor (B.A. & M.A., Williams; Ph.D. U.Chicago), I understand the particular challenges college students face. Often, the hardest step about therapy is the decision to begin. I welcome the opportunity to meet you and explore how I can be helpful to you.
I'M A FIRM BELIEVER in the health of one's mind being a crucial factor in their ability to meet the demands of everyday life. It becomes a harder task to address stressful situations if you're already not feeling well. Think about moments when you might not have been able to focus at work, successfully study for an exam, or even effectively communicate your concerns to others due to how you felt mentally and physically. MY WORK AS A THERAPIST ENTAILS consistent problem-solving, reasoning, exploring, investigating, learning, and healing. I provide compassionate, supportive, encouraging, and challenging therapy that facilitates and promotes growth for people who seek to improve the quality of their lives. Reflecting on one's actions, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, and offering advisement on ways to improve the overall health of one's lifestyle are a few ways by which I aid individuals in achieving an enhanced experience of life. THROUGH THESE MEANS, the ability to focus at work becomes a bit easier, studying for an exam is not such a harrowing feat and effectively expressing your needs feels like more of a natural practice. All the while, paying special attention to your improved health both mentally and physically.
Learning how to navigate life as a young adult is hard! You are trying to balance the demands of work or school, family, and friends, all while figuring out who you are and who you want to be. As a driven and successful individual, you may put a lot of pressure on yourself and feel constrained by your own expectations. This can lead to constant self-doubt and feeling like you're always reaching for an unattainable (or unrealistic) goal. You may be overextending yourself to others, and not focusing on yourself. Perhaps you have negative thought patterns or behaviors that are causing discomfort or you don't always understand your reactions. Virtual therapy can help. Let's work together to discover the barriers that are keeping you from finding balance in your life - taking care of yourself and setting boundaries is not selfish!
