Therapists for college students near Portland State University
I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I don't take myself too seriously. The work? Absolutely. But I've found that people open up more when the clinic doesn't feel like a courtroom. I see patients of al ages dealing with ADHD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, hormone issues, and weight. If you're dragging through your days, can't focus, can't sleep, or just feel like something's been off for a while, that's exactly the stuff I work with. I'm direct. I'll tell you what I'm seeing and what I think we should do about it. But I'm also not here to lecture you or make you feel like a case study. You're a person, not a diagnosis. I want to know what's actually going on in your life, not just what boxes you check on an intake form. Also, I'm told I'm funny. Results may vary.

I enjoy working with students at the collegiate level. It can be such an exciting time of life, but can also present unique challenges that create uncertainty and impact mental health. I am here to support this adjustment period, whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, or experiencing executive function challenges. I have the ability to see you via telehealth or in person, and am able to collaborate with your provider at home (if you're attending from out of state) to continue or adjust medications while in the state of Oregon.

Trauma recovery involves the process of healing both the body and mind from overwhelming experiences by reconnecting with oneself in an integrated way. It includes developing interoception—the ability to sense and interpret internal bodily cues—which helps individuals notice and respond to their emotional and physical states with greater awareness and regulation. Recovery also involves working with both implicit memories (unconscious, body-held responses like tension or startle reflexes) and explicit memories (conscious, narrative recollections of events). Through therapeutic approaches that access these memory systems, individuals begin to make sense of their experiences, reduce reactivity, and create new, safer associations, allowing for a more grounded and empowered sense of self.
In practice for 30+ years, I offer a warm, collaborative approach. We will work together to heal wounds, resolve symptoms and overcome barriers that keep you from living your full potential. Depending on your needs and wishes, our work together can involve learning new skills, exploring past hurts, accessing your inner wisdom, harnessing your creativity to develop more effective life strategies, and all the while deepening your self-understanding. I work with individuals who are 16+ years. While I have a wide ranging practice, I have particular interest and expertise in working with depression, anxiety and stress, young adults, sexual orientation, gender identity, clients with chronic health concerns, life transitions, creative blocks, and family of origin issues.
I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma, manage anxiety, and break free from cycles of perfectionism, self-criticism, and chronic stress. I am particularly drawn to working with women, LGBTQIA2S+ individuals, and healthcare professionals navigating burnout, identity stress, compassion fatigue, and the long-term impact of always having to be “on.” As a queer, neurodivergent therapist, I understand how important it is to have a space where you don’t need to translate your experience, justify your reactions, or perform stability in order to be met with care. My approach is trauma-informed, affirming, and collaborative, drawing primarily from EMDR and ACT.
I offer a safe and consistent virtual space for adults of all ages to work through current stress, manage issues like anxiety, depression, and relationship issues, and to resolve past trauma. My practice offers flexibility and the option to heal in an environment you can control, while my skills and experience allow me to foster a connection between us that is real and lasting. My clients often use the space to process their needs, to practice creating conscious connection between their minds and bodies, and to explore strategies that will offer them freedom and relief from traumatic stress. We'll have purposeful conversations that help build insight and clarity around your thoughts, feelings, and other internal experiences. Using virtual, trauma informed strategies based on current neuroscience such as EMDR, you can resolve past trauma, often leading to improvements in mood, energy levels, and ability to manage daily stress. Whether you're processing your experiences or learning new strategies, our sessions will take on a predictable, reliable flow that you can count on for help and support. If you have the sense we’d be a good fit for your needs, please feel free to reach out to set up a free consultation. I look forward to hearing from you!
Humor is something I like to incorporate into therapy; however, we can be serious about your concerns too. People of all ages struggle with human suffering and sometimes you need someone to walk with you through that, whether it be something you wish to change or something that you cannot. I aim to help my clients make meaning in life while also identifying the connections between our individual concerns and larger systems in life. I provide individual therapy for a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, identity exploration, and trauma, with specialized experience supporting people through grief, traumatic loss, and substance use concerns. My clients have expressed appreciation for my ability to sit with them in their suffering, when they have felt most alone. I have multiple years of experience previously working in college counseling centers. During these experiences, I supported students from a variety of backgrounds and found a lot of joy in helping students at a unique intersection in their lives. I have been lucky to work with a diverse student population and have supported many queer and trans students in exploring their gender and sexual identities while also addressing other mental health concerns. In addition, I was able to support BIPOC students as they addressed systemic issues within the university, while also exploring their individual racial identities. I further co-facilitated a family-trauma group during my time at a university counseling center. Thus, I find that I greatly appreciate being able to sit with students who are addressing these concerns. I am a Psychologist Resident in OR. I have my doctorate and five years of experience providing therapy, however, to become licensed in OR I must complete a supervised residency. I am supervised by Dr. Carrie McMullin (OR 2963). College and grad school can bring a lot of pressure—and for many students, that can show up in their relationship with food and their body. Between academic stress, social comparison, changing routines, and campus culture, it's common for body image concerns and eating disorder symptoms to become more intense. As an eating disorder registered dietitian, I provide compassionate, trauma-informed nutrition counseling from a Health at Every Size® (HAES®) and All Foods Fit approach. Whether you're struggling with an eating disorder, chronic dieting, body image, or simply want to feel more at peace with food, I'm here to help you build a healthier, more flexible relationship with eating and with yourself. I also lead Yoga for Embodiment and offer virtual sessions for Illinois and Oregon residents.
