Therapists for college students near Rice University
Starting therapy does not mean you are falling apart. Sometimes it just means you are ready to stop carrying everything alone. I work with college students and young adults who are trying to balance school, work, family, relationships, stress, anxiety, and everything else that comes with figuring life out. Some come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or burned out. Others are navigating trauma, self-doubt, relationship challenges, or patterns they are tired of repeating. I also enjoy working with BIPOC students, first-generation students, student veterans, service members, and military-connected students. Therapy with me is a space where you can be honest about what you are carrying, sort through what feels heavy, and feel like someone actually gets it. We can start wherever you are.
As a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I provide compassionate, individualized care to those navigating life’s mental health challenges. My holistic approach integrates evidence-based psychotherapy and psychopharmacology to address each person’s emotional, physical, and cultural needs. I am fluent in English and Shona, allowing me to connect meaningfully with clients from diverse backgrounds and ensure open, effective communication throughout the therapeutic process. Working with me means entering a supportive partnership built on trust and respect. I create a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can share your story, explore your emotions, and set meaningful goals. Together, we design a personalized treatment plan aligned with your values, strengths, and aspirations for lasting mental well-being. Our work begins with a thorough assessment to understand your history, current challenges, and resilience factors. Using this insight, I combine therapy, medication management, and other supportive resources to promote balance and healing. Your progress is continuously evaluated to ensure that care evolves with your changing needs.
Hi! My name is Mandy Schramm. I've been working in the mental health field since 2015, but practicing counseling since 2020. I'm currently an LPC at Soluna Mental Health in the Woodlands, TX. I have Master's degrees in both Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My background mainly has been working with adolescents in residential and inpatient settings struggling with mental health and behavioral issues. My work with adolescents in long term programs has afforded me the opportunity to see how different environments and family systems shape youth growth and needs. I also work with adults struggling with mental health, ineffective coping skills, poor social supports, and trauma. Most of my clients have struggled with unresolved trauma resulting in mental or behavioral issues. I aim to provide a safe space for those who are struggling to process the root of their issues so that they can adopt healthy coping skills to implement in their daily lives. Your past does not have to define you! Give yourself the opportunity you deserve to grow from your experiences and shape your future.
Despite your best effort you feel weighed down or worried, and you are not making the progress you expected. You need a space where your worries, faith, and cultural experiences are all taken seriously — so you can start moving through life with increased clarity, peace and capacity. Through evidence-based therapy integrated with Christian principles, I help professionals reduce anxiety, recover from burnout, and show up more effectively in work and relationships that matter most. Reaching out takes courage — and it is one of the most supportive and strategic decisions you can make for yourself. You were made for more than surviving. I would be honored to support your journey. You might look like you're holding it together on the outside, but internally things feel overwhelming. I work with teens and adults who are feeling stuck, emotionally exhausted, navigating major life changes, or carrying experiences from the past that continue to affect their daily lives. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, difficult relationships, or simply don't feel like yourself anymore, I'm here to help you reconnect with yourself and move forward. My goal is for you to feel more in control of your life. We’ll explore how your past influences your present, creating a safe space where you feel truly seen. Our time together is to help you discover the strength you already have in you to move forward with clarity and confidence. Taking the first step can feel intimidating, but you don't have to have everything figured out before we meet. Our first session is simply a chance for us to get to know each other, talk about what's bringing you to therapy, and begin creating a plan to move forward that feels right for you.
I specialize in supporting high-achieving professionals, especially those in academia or the helping profession (doctors, nurses, therapists, pastors), who grapple with perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, codependency, and the challenge of prioritizing their own needs amidst the many demands of their personal and professional lives. As an immigrant, I bring a rich, cross-cultural perspective to therapy and a deep appreciation for how culture shapes identity, relationships, and mental health. Many of my clients are navigating complex intersections of cultural expectations, academic roles, and personal values. In addition to my clinical practice, I am a professor and active researcher. My academic work focuses on interpersonal trauma and its impact on relationships and meaning-making. This dual identity as both clinician and scholar informs my approach: deeply reflective, integrative, and grounded in both science and lived experience. I work exclusively via Telehealth with adult clients residing in GA, MI, and TX. I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship—one that offers both safety and challenges patterns by providing direct and honest feedback. If you're ready to invest in yourself and your well-being, I invite you to reach out.
I practice via telehealth in NY, NC, WA, and TX. I specialize in working with adult men and women who may look fine on the outside, but inside you're struggling to get your own needs met, self-doubt, perfectionism, and shame. Gestalt Therapy goes beyond looking only at the cognitive, linear perspective of the person. It demands of the therapist an awareness of the body and how it manifests in the psyche. Through its focus on process rather than content, the patient gains an experiential awareness of how they do what they do and new choices emerge spontaneously. The radical focus on process in Gestalt creative therapy keeps the work alive and full of possibility for both the patient and for my work as a therapist. Melissa Bennett-Heinz obtained her master’s degree in clinical social work from Columbia University (Class of 2002) and is a graduate of Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy in New York City, NY. In addition to her background in Gestalt Therapy, she obtained her bachelor's and master’s degrees from the esteemed conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, in New York City, where she majored in Oboe Performance. Melissa completed cognitive behavioral studies under the tutelage of Dr. William Sanderson. She is a licensed clinical social worker in NY, WA, NC, and TX and has over twenty years of specialized training and experience in PTSD, childhood abuse, mood and anxiety disorders. Melissa brings her background as a classical musician and deep spirituality together in her unique approach in Gestalt's creative and experiential therapy.

Micah Duke is dual board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and board-certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. He has nearly two decades of experience helping adults and children in crisis and emergency situations. Micah self-identifies as a "professional student" and understands the many stresses associated with leaving home and attending college. You’ve always been the one who holds it together. The friend everyone leans on, the one who keeps the peace, even when you're falling apart inside. You’re kind, thoughtful, and always thinking about how others feel—sometimes to the point of losing sight of what you need. Maybe you grew up in a home where speaking up was risky, or you were labeled as “too much.” Now, in college or early adulthood, you feel lost - constantly second-guessing yourself, unsure who you are outside of relationships or achievements. You want to feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life—but you’re not sure where to start.
