Therapists for college students near University of Pennsylvania
Elaine Rodino
I am seeing all patients by video and phone. You may contact me for a free initial consultation. I see psychotherapy as a psycho-educational experience where you learn about yourself. It is like taking a course in yourself. This counseling process of self-exploration leads to understanding self-defeating thinking and behaviors that may keep you from actualizing potential for successful relationships, success in school, business and career and from having a really happy life. During the 25+ years since I have been a licensed psychologist, I have had the privilege of helping many individuals and couples to achieve a happier, emotionally healthier, and financially successful life. My patients describe me as being a no nonsense person, while at the same time being warm and comfortable. My orientation is Psychodynamic and Cognitive. My thinking is based on psychoanalytic theory, but in practice I react and actively participate in the discussions. I don't just sit silently and nod. Cognitive/behaviorial methods are used as situations require. I have been the family's psychologist for multiple generations, when the participants are comfortable with this mode. Teletherapy - Phone and Video sessions are provided for patients who either cannot come to the office or when they have relocated to a distance too far to travel. During the COVID-19 Pandemic I am conducting all sessions by video and phone.

I am a holistic psychotherapist with over 20 years experience. I am passionate about helping creative, motivated, ambitious, open-minded people feel confident & comfortable in their own bodies, reclaim their sexuality and desire, heal through sexual difficulties, and live happy, healthy, and empowered lives. I work with people to better understand their relationships. Not only in relationship with partners and family members, but also their relationship to their own body, thoughts, stress, and Self. I aim to help you feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin. My professional and personal journey have led me to blend Western Psychology and Eastern Philosophy, mindfulness, compassion, breath and bodywork, neurobiology, mind-body techniques, and the creative healing arts when appropriate.

Many of the clients I see are dealing with some form of anxiety, depression, adjustment-related issue, or life transition. Most often, my clients are young adults who are having problems in interpersonal relationships, such as feeling extremely anxious in social situations, having difficulty finding or maintaining healthy relationships, struggling to communicate effectively with others, or experiencing uncertainty what their wants and needs are in a relationship. I have a great deal of experience working with students. My internship and postdoc were both in a university counseling center, and afterward, I was a psychology professor for a number of years. In these roles, I worked with both undergraduate and graduate students. Therefore, I'm very familiar with the challenges that students can face. Whatever it is that is getting in the way, I can help! I utilize evidence-based approaches and methods that have been proven to work. However, because there is no single approach that works for every person across all situations, I practice in a way that will be responsive to your unique needs. We may work on identifying problematic thoughts, putting new behaviors into action, or learning how to better identify, express, and manage your emotions. If your concern is relationship-related, we will explore your relationship patterns, identify factors that are having a negative impact on your relationships, and help you develop the skills to find and maintain healthy, fulfilling relationships. Regardless of the specifics, I place a prime emphasis on providing a safe, supportive environment that is free from judgment. My style has been described as highly collaborative.
Nagy Counseling LLC
Hello! My name is Halley and, as a therapist, it is my intention to look beyond the symptoms being presented to identify the root of the problem and to make space for you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis or a label. This often looks like examining our most intimate relationships, the family system, and what connections or patterns exist between the two. If you find yourself often wondering "Why am I like this?" and "Why does this keep happening?,” then we may be a good fit - especially if you have been in therapy before, feel like you have the tools or knowledge, and like you should be able to do something differently. It is my belief that our most intimate relationships impact us and how we move through the world. My hope is to help you look at those relationships, to better understand them, and to identify your role in creating your own experience. I often attempt to do this by asking questions, making observations, and inviting you to do the same. Therapy is messy. Therapy is not linear. Therapy is a process. I would be honored to be a part of yours and be alongside you as you learn about yourself while achieving the long-term healing and awareness that you deserve.

College can feel like a lot to carry. Classes, relationships, expectations, and trying to figure out what comes next. You might look like you’re handling things on the outside, but inside feel overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or unsure of yourself. You may notice the same patterns showing up in relationships or feel like you’re falling behind. You are not alone, this is a very common experience. Therapy is a place to sort through what’s going on and understand why things feel this way. With over 20 years of experience, I work with students navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, academic challenges and family and relationship challenges. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly, make sense of your experiences, and start to feel steadier and more confident. Together, we’ll work on building healthier boundaries, finding clarity, and helping you move forward in a way that feels right for you. If you’d like to connect, email is the best way to reach me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Many of us come to therapy looking for relief from emotional pain, but we're often searching for something more. Maybe you're trying to understand yourself better, make sense of what's happened to you, figure out who you are, or find a way of living that feels more true to yourself. To me, therapy is a collaborative process built on authenticity, curiosity, and genuine human connection. I practice primarily from a relational, values-driven, and strength-based perspective, while also incorporating skills-based interventions when they feel helpful to you. Together, we'll explore the patterns, relationships, experiences, and values that have shaped your life. I aim to make therapy feel like a natural conversation where there are no “wrong” things to bring up—sometimes, even the things that seem random or difficult to say can help us understand something meaningful about you. I don't believe I have all the answers to your life (and you don't have to either!) My role is to walk alongside you as we figure things out together, creating space for you to show up as yourself and feel genuinely welcomed, understood, and accepted.
Cedar Avenue Psychotherapy
We believe that psychological well-being and healing come from our ability to foster awareness, understanding and acceptance of our experience of life as a whole - the good, the bad and everything in between. Talking with a therapist can often help facilitate this kind of personal growth. We believe that through developing a trusting relationship, therapist and client can explore aspects of the client’s struggle and the experience of relating to each other in deeper, more honest and productive ways. While each therapist in our practice has a unique approach to the work, we all share a deep appreciation for the importance of meaning making and lived experience in understanding human experience and effective therapy.

Shannon Mick, NCC, LPC
Hi, I’m Shannon Mick, NCC, LPC, founder of Finish Stronger Counseling. I provide compassionate virtual therapy to adults across Pennsylvania who are ready to overcome anxiety, trauma, and eating disorders—especially endurance runners and athletes who want to feel strong in both mind and body. As a semi-professional ultramarathoner and assistant running coach myself, I truly understand the unique mental challenges that come with the sport: DNFs, DNSs, injury recovery, training balance, body image, and the relentless drive to push your limits. My holistic, movement-informed approach blends evidence-based therapy with real-world strategies that honor the mind-body connection athletes live every day. Using CBT, DBT, and ACT, I help clients address root causes, build resilience, and develop the mindset tools they need to cross every finish line—on the trail and in life. Whether you’re navigating performance anxiety, rebuilding after a setback, or simply wanting to feel like yourself again, my goal is simple: help you finish stronger. I offer a free 10–15 minute phone consult so we can see if we’re the right fit. An email is okay, too. Let’s get started—your next strong chapter is waiting. College life can be exciting and rewarding, but it can also bring new pressures, responsibilities, relationships, and challenges that can feel overwhelming. Adjusting to academic demands, navigating friendships and relationships, living away from home, managing expectations, and taking care of your mental health can sometimes feel like a lot to handle. I work with college students experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, mood concerns, trauma-related difficulties, relationship and social challenges, and the emotional stresses that often accompany major life transitions. Sometimes students know exactly what is wrong; other times, they simply know that they don't feel like themselves or that something is making it difficult to function at their best. My approach combines psychiatric medication management with psychotherapy and supportive counseling. I believe treatment should be individualized and collaborative, taking into account not only symptoms, but also the whole person and the circumstances affecting their mental health. Together, we can explore what you are experiencing, identify patterns that may be contributing to your difficulties, and develop practical strategies to help you feel more balanced and in control. I strive to provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where students feel comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, feel more grounded, and develop the tools and support you need to navigate college and life with greater confidence.

I want to meet you where you are, and I realize that one type of counseling does not fit everyone. You are unique and we will work together to find what works best for you!
