I believe that each person wants to find fulfillment in life, and that through the therapeutic relationship, we can work together to achieve this goal. In today's world, there are so many pressures and obstacles that people face on a daily basis. I work to help people identify the factors that affect their lives, assist them in gaining insight into the causes of their problems, and develop real-life solutions to address problematic issues. I use techniques from various types of therapy to achieve this. I work to help people identify their strengths in order to increase resiliency and autonomy and develop growing self-respect. I specialize in treating couples, college students and young professionals, and individuals with borderline personality disorder. I have extensive training in emotionally-focused couples therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy, and I draw from these approaches to best treat each unique person and couple. Perhaps more than any other part of therapy or specific technique, I believe that my empathy, genuine care, and desire to help people are my greatest assets. I devote myself completely to my work and to the people I treat, and strive to make treatment as effective and meaningful as possible, with the continuous goal of creating progress in people's lives.

Marriage & Family Therapist
New York, NY

I love working with students who care about their relationships and want to feel more connected—to partners, friends, or themselves. Many of the people I see are creative, thoughtful, and maybe a little unsure of where they’re headed next. Whether you’re dealing with relationship stress, an existential “what am I doing with my life?” moment, or just trying to communicate better, therapy can be a space to slow down and figure things out together.

Starting therapy can be a challenging step, especially when seeking a therapist who genuinely understands your unique experiences and challenges. Recognizing this, I am deeply committed to empathizing with my clients and understanding their backgrounds to provide the most effective support. My name is Rhea and I am a therapist in-training at Sol Health. I am a second-year Mental Health Counseling student at Fordham University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Newcastle University, U.K. My journey into counseling has been profoundly shaped by my experiences as a South-Asian immigrant, inspiring my passion towards understanding each client’s identity and how it affects their mental health.  Dealing with mental health concerns can feel isolating and overwhelming. That's why I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be your authentic self and feel truly heard. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the core of my practice. I strive to be your ally, empowering you to explore your thoughts and emotions freely, without the burden of putting on a facade. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based techniques, while also incorporating spirituality into your healing journey when appropriate. Utilizing an intersectional framework, I address the diverse identities and experiences that shape your mental health. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, where your autonomy is respected, and you actively participate in your path to healing. Together, we will uncover insights and develop strategies tailored to your unique needs and goals. My focus areas include, but are not limited to, addressing issues related to racism, college adjustment, transitional challenges, and the experiences of international students. I also support clients dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and relationship and family issues. I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care, particularly for individuals from marginalized communities, helping you overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. You don't have to face your struggles alone—I'm here to support you every step of the way. Rhea Thakur is a therapist in-training at Sol Health. Hi there! Have you ever felt like your thoughts are racing but the words just won't come out? Have you ever felt the anxiety of overthinking and overanalyzing? Or that despite knowing what you “should” do, making changes feels overwhelming? Perhaps you're navigating the complexities of interpersonal relationships, cultural identity, family expectations, or that persistent feeling that no one quite understands your experience. I want you to know that these feelings are deeply valid, and you're not alone in this journey. Taking this first step toward healing shows incredible courage, and thank you for considering sharing your story with me. I'm Toni, a first-year Master's student in Social Work at Columbia University, building upon my foundation in my bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from NYU. I believe in creating a genuine and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My approach combines warmth and gentle humor with practical strategies, creating a space where both healing and growth can flourish. While my foundation combines client-centered therapy with CBT and an existential approach, I believe in adapting therapeutic approaches to what works best for you. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw from various modalities to create a personalized therapeutic experience that aligns with your needs and goals. Together, we'll work on transforming overwhelming thoughts into manageable steps, building confidence in your decisions, and helping you feel more grounded in who you are. As a 1.5 generation Asian American therapist-in-training, I bring both professional training and personal understanding to our sessions, especially when it comes to navigating cultural expectations, family dynamics, and the unique pressures of straddling multiple identities. I create a trauma-informed, culturally affirming space where you can explore these experiences openly and draw strength from your heritage. Your story matters, and I'm here to listen with empathy, understanding, and zero judgment. Let's collaborate on your journey toward healing and self-discovery, celebrating each step forward while honoring your unique experiences and strengths. Toni Yu is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy to Gen Zs by connecting them with therapists-in-training accruing clinical hours.

Everyday someone struggles with the idea of whether therapy is the right choice for them. Many people attempt to “push through”, ignore or avoid dealing with issues that may be reoccurring in their life. For some it’s about not wanting to share personal information with a stranger. Other times it’s about fear of trying something new. For many it’s about believing that they can resolve issues without support from others. Some may feel that seeking therapy is a sign of weakness. Oddly enough it takes strength and self awareness to recognize when support may be helpful. The goal of the clinician is always to provide support in a nonjudgmental, non threatening environment. If you’re reading this you have taken the first step toward change. Today is a Perfect Day to start on a journey toward a better you.

I have experience working with students experiencing burnout, imposter syndrome, and overwhelm in their academic, professional, and personal lives. I enjoy working with students who are self aware and may be intellectualizing their emotions and experiences. Anyone looking to take their healing a step further and deeper into their physical body rather than just the cognitive work is someone I’d be excited to connect with.
