Emily Dickinson wrote, “Hope is the thing with feathers,” comparing hope to a bird, noting that even something small, sometimes unseen, holds power that can bring you through hardships. Sparrows carry symbolism across many cultures, described to be a representation of resilience, joy, freedom, hope, and community. Here at House of Sparrow we want you to know that you are seen, you are valuable, and that you carry more strength than you know.

Everyone is responsible for protecting and nurturing their mental health. Navigating through difficult life experiences can manifest stress, unhappiness, anxiety, anger, etc. Sometimes, we develop harmful ways to cope with these life experiences such as isolating ourselves, lashing out at others, abusing substances, among other things. It can be difficult to take the first step and reach out for therapy/counseling. However, taking that first step means that you're prepared to figure out how you can improve your circumstance and move forward. It's my mission to offer you support through your process of achieving mental wellness!

Hello! I'm Jacobia Williams, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with a passion for helping others to live their best lives. I've worked as a social worker in settings such as therapeutic foster care, hospitals, counseling, and schools for the last 20 years. My goal is to support you on your life's journey. We are all unique and have stories to tell, but it is important to be the narrator of that story. Many of us have faced challenges with our health, jobs, families, and relationships. Many have lost loved ones, felt overwhelmed, and have been stressed out. Often times, our loved ones and children may be feeling those stressors also. We want to teach ourselves and children that it is important to take care of our physical and emotional health. Seeking help to fine tune our coping skills is a courageous act. Allow me the opportunity to partner with you in developing the skills and tools needed to navigate your world. We want to assist you with living a healthy and happy life. Hello! My passion is assisting individuals in being able to process and heal through traumatic and difficult situations. I believe children are resilient and their main source of communication is through their play. I highly value offering a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental environment for individuals to begin making the changes and progress they are hoping for. By making these changes, our clients have the ability to live the life they want and do so successfully.
Welcome, I'm glad you are here. If you need a safe space to talk it out, I am here to listen. If you need to cry, yell, lament, or laugh I am here for it! I find it is beneficial, for those that I work with, to talk and to do. I often incorporate creative experiences, outdoor therapy, and movement as integral parts of the counseling process. I consider myself informal, personable, often humorous, and accepting of others. I'm looking forward to meeting you soon.
I help people find relief and clarity. Are you in a stressful situation? Do you overthink and analyze everything? Or, maybe you are feeling down and unmotivated. I use research based strategies and interventions to help people who are experiencing things like, work stress and burnout, relationship problems, adjustment issues to life changes, grief and bereavement, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, and spiritual frustration. I offer a relaxed virtual counseling environment where we work collaboratively to create and move toward personalized mental health goals, often using practical interventions to make positive changes. I am LGBTQ friendly. I have a special interest in providing support to young adult women in the midst of life transitions. I currently offer counseling services online for your convenience. I believe that finding 'the right fit' in counseling is important, so I provide a free 15-minute phone consultation. When you're struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or depression, the idea of opening up and trusting another person can be HARD. I know that you've likely heard so many messages throughout your life about what you should do and who you should be, but I don't think that "shoulds" have a place in therapy. Who do you WANT to be? How do you WANT to feel? That is way more important than any shoulds, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you start to find answers to these questions over time. Together, we can unravel those expectations - what you've been told it means to be healthy or successful or fill in the blank - and get to the heart of what really matters to you and what you need. Being a human is messy, and as your therapist, I'll be right there in that space with you as a human first, therapist second. Let's explore what it means to be humans in a world that expects perfection (which doesn't exist!) and pushes you to grind until you're too burned out to do the things you actually want to do. Whether you realize it today or not, you deserve peace. I have many tools in my toolbox to support you, but to me the most important thing I can do is to provide you a safe space to explore your experience in its entirety at your own pace - to build a connection that is strong enough for you to know that I won't judge you or make you bad or wrong for how you are feeling or for using certain behaviors to cope. It's what you've known to do up to this point, so let's put our heads together and find the ways that this has made sense so we can look at it from a place of compassion instead of judgment. This is a shame-free space! I hold a special place in my heart for those who are working towards eating disorder recovery who feel like they aren't sick enough because their body size, race, sexuality, or gender identity don't match what they are seeing on social media under the eating disorder hashtags. All identities are welcome here, and no matter what your circumstances, your concerns are valid, you ARE sick enough, and you deserve compassionate, equitable care. If anything I've said here makes you think "I like her vibe," please don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to chat further about what it would look like for us to work together.

You made it to college but you are either overworking or you can't get yourself to do the work and somewhere along the way you started feeling like a zombie. You are physically and emotionally exhausted. You're feeling burned out, overwhelmed, disconnected and on edge. Hopelessness is sinking in or has already sunken in. You're may even be calling out of work or skipping classes. You are terrified that you can't handle life's demands or the needs of those who count on you. Your self-esteem sucks and you fucking sick of it all. Your relationships are suffering. The words "self-care" elicits both a laugh and a sinking feeling in your stomach, but also, you know that at some time something has to give. You are tired of feeling guilty for having your own needs. It is time. You want to feel capable, hopeful, and like what you do is making a difference. You may want to be rid of intrusive thoughts, memories, habits and old or destructive narratives. You need to function and you need to be at peace with what you need to do to get where you want to go. I am a queer, bi-cultural, large bodied, neurodivergent, first generation late college graduate with a lot of experience overcoming obstacles. Clients who enjoy working with me appreciate compassion, humor, secular/non-religious and trauma-sensitive approaches to therapy. If you have scratched and clawed your way to success and feel it slipping through your fingers then call me today for help learning how to get through this thing called adulting so you can meet your goals.
I believe that healing happens through genuine connection and collaboration, and I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued. I take a person-centered approach to therapy, where we work at your pace and with your goals and voice at the forefront, taking practical steps toward the life you deserve. I work with individual adults and teenagers (14+) who are navigating life’s inevitable challenges in an open and honest way, including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship concerns, confidence and identity challenges, and stress or burnout related to school, work, or major life transitions.
