Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Our Goal. Our Therapists want to help you find healing. Trauma and grief can disrupt your daily functioning, your ability to feel emotions, and your relationships with others. Let's reconnect your mind, body, and emotions so that the real you can live in the real world without fear or anxiety. Our Clients. We've worked with children, teens, and adults. They've been survivors of physical abuse, sexual abuse, assault, cancer, accidents, addiction, loss, and everyday stress. They are students, moms, dads, foster kids, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, therapists, clergy, and everything in between.
Everyone lives a diverse, intersectional existence with idiosyncratic experience. Acknowledging this means relating to others with inclusivity, openness, and humility. This philosophy not only humanizes students, many of whom identify as marginalized community members (e.g., BIPOC, LGBTQ+, accessibility needs, low-SES), but also honors their authenticity. Thus, I practice from an existential-humanistic-relational lens so I can naturally tailor therapy with evidence-based techniques (e.g., CBT, SFT, ACT) and psychological theories (e.g., identity, attachment, multicultural) necessary for understanding students’ intersectionality. I typically work with students experiencing elevated anxiety and depression, while specializing in identity development, interpersonal dynamics (e.g., relating to others), relational trauma, and existential concerns (e.g., authenticity, choice, meaning). Early sessions help form a therapeutic alliance, revealing underlying issues that manifest as psychological distress (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma). From there, we identify coping skills, foster hope, and alleviate symptoms as you gain insight-oriented feedback. We also collaborate to explore, discover, and empower actions for you to become the most authentic version of self. The modern world is daunting, with a pace and pivot difficult to navigate. The rapid spin of sudden chaos. Steady drift of aimless wander. Dead still of eternal stagnation. As a serving spirit, I provide a healthy space for students to be and become that who they are and will be. Here, all are welcome. Here… all are an expression of hope and self-empowerment.
Hi there! My name is Bryanna, and I am a limited-licensed therapist working at Fairsky Foundation. Being a college student can bring so many emotions, including anxiety, excitement, sadness, pride, and loneliness. Cultures are tricky even when we live in the same country. Do you feel it's difficult to be fully understood? Do you feel 'conflict with others' happen often? Sometimes, we feel lonely, lost, and discouraged when going through life transitions, good or bad. Transition could be a break-up, a loss of a loved one, a new cultural/sexual identity, starting in a new school or new semester. You don’t have to go through those transitions alone. Therapy is a safe space for you to explore the complex emotions that come with those changes. I take an integrative approach in helping you realize your own potential to achieve wellness. Knowing Cantonese and Mandarin allows me to understand my client's perspective from their own native language.
Matthew serves as a companion to those who desire to experience healing, growth, and transformation in their pursuit of the full human experience. He works to offer a space of mutual, compassionate, and empathetic listening to the story your life is telling. Matthew believes that the opportunity to work with you is a sacred privilege, and is committed to discovering a shared process in therapy that honors who you are, your background, and your future path. Practicing therapy with Matthew may include focusing on developing tools and practices to help manage emotions and thoughts, support in healing from past experiences, assistance developing healthier behavioral patterns, and/or establishing new values. However, there is not one therapeutic approach that fits all, which is why he works closely with you to identify your own needs and goals. Matthew is experienced primarily in individual work with adolescents and adults from all backgrounds and genders, in areas related to depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, interpersonal conflict, identity exploration, finding belonging, discovering purpose, grief/loss, and religious and spiritual questions [and related trauma]. He is a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist. Matthew graduated with a Masters in Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2024. He is also a graduate of Kuyper College [BS], Cornerstone Theological Seminary [MA], and the Living School for Action and Contemplation. His experience living internationally and attending two universities in multi-cultural and inter-religious environments has deeply shaped how he engages individuals from a diversity of circumstances and backgrounds. Matthew’s professional and academic emphasis on restorative justice practices, as well as the unique cognitive, developmental, and mental health needs of people of all ages has deepened his ability to foster effective therapeutic environments and meaningful relationships with clients. Matthew believes that our growth as people cannot be manufactured or controlled, and is therefore something we can only cooperate with and bear witness to. For many, the journey and practice of our work together becomes an outcome in itself. While Matthew is a generalist when it comes to theoretical orientation, he naturally integrates person-centered, narrative, existential, humanist, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment approaches.
Ready to unf#ck your nervous system? Let’s be completely real, you can’t think your way out of a survival response. If analyzing your childhood or making endless coping-skill lists worked, you wouldn't be reading this right now. Using specialized somatic approaches like Brainspotting, EMDR, and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), we target where stress and trauma are physically trapped in your nervous system. We clear out the heavy, physical weight in your chest and stomach so your body finally gets the memo that the danger is over.If you are ready for raw honesty, deep somatic shifts, and a therapist who actually curses back, you’re in the right place. When I was a student in college, my parents were going through a bitter divorce and I lost a close friend from school and three family members all in one year. I felt as if I was losing my mind. My close friends connected me with a therapist and it literally changed my life. I felt heard, supported and validated and was given permission to let things go and actually focus on my issues and my needs instead of everyone else’s. This is one of the main reasons why I practice therapy and have a heart for college-age students. I was you once and I hope to help just as I was once helped. We all go through seasons in our lives when things just feel too overwhelming or we feel as if we cannot get through it without a little help. I believe that is what therapy is for. It is to help us find our voices and find ourselves again. In the seasons when we feel lost and hopeless, a therapist can help empower us to find the strength to overcome our challenges and heal from our pain. I am a firm believer in the notion that we only live once on this earth. Make the most of it. Heal the hurt. Develop a growth mindset. Live a life that is full so that you can thrive at being the best version of you! I am honored to help you get there!

Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
My goal is to create a compassionate and affirming space where you feel safe to be yourself without fear of judgment. Together we'll work to better understand your experiences, strengthen your relationships, and build a life that feels more authentic to you. I have a special passion for supporting the neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ population both in an individual and couples therapy setting. My role is to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and respect while helping you build on your strengths, navigate life's challenges, and to live as the best version of yourself.
“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”–Carl Jung I have an integrated approach to therapy, using a variety of methods and theories to best serve each person’s needs. I use specific methods as needed, but the main focus is on understanding the client with their unique history and personality. I strive to create a safe space for honest conversation that encourages healing and growth to help navigate life’s complexities and difficulties. My field work during my MSW program was in community mental health where I worked with people dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, bi-polar disorder, and grief, among other concerns. I have worked with people from devout religious backgrounds as well as those who have been hurt in that environment. I have worked with couples, and I have helped people experiencing significant periods of change in their lives.
