The transition to college or graduate school can be a time of tremendous change. Adapting to new environments, relationships and levels of independence can feel overwhelming in even the best of circumstances. For those who are navigating mental health challenges, complicated family or friend dynamics, shifts in identity, grief, or loss, that transition can generate feelings of anxiety, panic or paralysis that may affect daily functioning. I was a client long before I became a therapist, so I know how daunting it can be to open yourself up to a stranger – to let them see those private parts of yourself that might have been a source of judgment, fear, pain or shame. It took me many years to ask for help, in part because I viewed it as a sign of weakness. Now, through the lens of both my professional and lived experiences, I see this first step you are taking for what it is – one of the ultimate signs of strength. I honor the courage it took to access that strength. I can’t guarantee that the work ahead will be easy – but you won’t have to do it alone. My goal as a therapist is to meet you where you are and walk with you as you move toward where you want to be. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is authentic, safe and non-judgmental. My approach to our work together is relationship-based and trauma-informed. I believe that therapy is most effective when the connection between client and therapist is grounded in trust and compassion. I invite you to reach out so that we can explore, together, whether I might be the right person to join you on your journey toward new insights, self-awareness and growth. Please note that discounts are available to full-time students on a case-by-case basis.

Hi! I'm a clinical social worker with 14 years of experience treating eating disorders, anxiety, and trauma. I also have experience working with veterans and active-duty military, in both VA and active-duty setting. My clients typically come to therapy grappling with uncertainty, high stress, or loneliness in their lives. Sometimes they are feeling intense emotions, or behaving in ways that are confusing and frustrating for them. They may be feeling disconnected from other people, or feeling overly worried about how others perceive them. They are seeking more connection, peace and balance in their day-to-day.

I'm passionate about working with college students who are finding life to be overwhelming and exhausting. Maybe you're heartbroken over loss, burdened with guilt, feeling you'll never be good enough, are scared, or at wits' end. Or maybe something happened to you, and it sticks with you giving you no rest. When we feel this way, we tend to isolate, berate ourselves, and spiral in our thinking or distract ourselves from these debilitating feelings. You're not alone. These feelings and responses are common, and there are evidence-based treatments to help you make sense of your concerns, take good care of yourself, and take your next steps. My main approach is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) while also building a warm, therapeutic relationship. I'm also trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma. That said, therapy is collaborative. You are the expert on yourself, and I will work with you to find the approach that best suits you. My goal is to help you not only feel better but to grow in ways that make a healthier life both possible and sustainable. Many people feel hesitant about starting therapy. Growth can be a challenging road—I hope to meet you on that road, and help with your journey.

Life in college can be overwhelming and isolating for a multitude of reasons, and my practice is based around supporting you through these challenges. Whether you're feeling stuck, going through a life transition, experience anxiety or depression, experienced a loss or have relationship challenges, I'm here to offer support, compassion and hope. I am an integrative therapist who strives to meet you where you are today. In our work together we will take a collaborative approach to identify not only your current needs and challenges but also your strengths and tailor treatment accordingly. The majority of my work is focused around cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths based, person-centered and/or mindfulness techniques, and I seek to draw on your inner resilience and build insight and coping. I enjoy working with a motivated client who wants to make changes and feel better. With over 12 years of experience, I've worked with many young adults experiencing a range of acute and chronic concerns. I know that finding a therapist can feel overwhelming, and it's important to find a good fit. Email me today to set up a free 15 minute consultation.

I believe therapy is best treated with positive support and with a strong professional relationship. Therapy should consist of empathy and sensitivity for your needs and goals. I approach all of my clients in a strength based supportive modality. You will find me to be a passionate, motivated and educated therapist that will help to reach your goals. I am available days and nights for your convenience. I understand starting therapy can be difficult and lengthy. As well, setting up an appointment can be frustrating, so I make it a point to call all intake appointments back within 24 hours. I work with all ages in a variety of services, however specialize in children/adolescents, anxiety disorders and trauma. I have a separate license as a school adjustment counselor which brings experience working in the school system. I create an environment which promotes safety and comfort in a way that is respectful and helpful. I work with the client at their own pace and we decide together what goals they want to address. Treatment is individually tailored to support clients managing daily stressors and coping with symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic disease, relationship issues and grief. My goal is to work with clients to identify strengths and to develop different coping strategies that will help to facilitate a positive outcome.

People seek counseling / therapy for many reasons - to gain understanding and insights, make changes, process experiences, for support and encouragement, and many others. Whether you are looking for a safe place to discuss whatever is on your mind, are interested in making life changes, or just want to give therapy a try, I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and see how I may be able to help. You can count on me to be reliable, truthful, and kind. My approach to therapy recognizes the importance of building a strong therapeutic relationship. I identify as queer and specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I am an affirming practitioner. I have over 20 years of experience working with college and graduate students in college counseling centers, and as a result I've had the privilege of working with many people from all around the world. My therapeutic approach is culturally informed and integrates a whole-person perspective along with socio-cultural/political awareness and acknowledgement of the impact of systemic barriers on functioning. I am mindful of my own areas of privilege and how I show up in spaces and may be perceived by others. I attend to how I perceive others based on my own life experiences. I'm always working to educate myself and challenge my assumptions and biases. I read, try to keep up on the news (around the world, not just in the U.S.), and try to engage in conversations with people from various backgrounds. If you would like to have a brief, introductory conversation to discuss what you are looking for and how I may be able to help, please give me a call or send an email. An initial screening consultation is free. I look forward to hearing from you.
