Danielle Carroll, LMHC, is a psychotherapist currently providing services to children, adolescents, and young adults. Danielle utilizes a client-centered, strengths-based approach that allows her clients to feel empowered to build the skills they need to improve their quality of life. She provides a trauma-informed, nurturing, nonjudgmental environment and incorporates humor and therapeutic play into her practice, which allows her to develop relationships with clients who have historically struggled to build healthy and safe attachments to providers and caregivers. Hi there! My name is Emersyn (they/them). I am a white, queer, nonbinary, neurodivergent human who is committed to lifelong learning and presently engaged in their own healing. I love working with other LGBTQIA2S+ folks around identity exploration, relationships, and feelings of erasure or invalidation within the community. I also enjoy working with neurodivergent individuals to identify strengths, needs, and ways to implement accommodations. I work with adults ages 18+ and children ages 6-10. I believe that children, like adults, have rich and dynamic inner worlds, behaviors, and concerns that deserve to be held with sincerity and curiosity. Previously, I have worked with adults with serious mental illness in a group home setting, as well as children with trauma histories in a special education setting. My therapy style is collaborative, systems-focused, person-centered, and casual. I am interested to learn about the familial, societal, and historical contexts that have shaped your/your childās life. I trust you/your child to take the lead, and I will offer guidance along the way. Past clients have appreciated my genuineness, curiosity, and receptivity to feedback. I offer virtual and in-person sessions for adults and in-person sessions only for children, including outdoor/walk-and-talk (pending weather). Please note that I will be masking for in-person sessions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I will provide extra masks should you choose to wear one.
private psychotherapy practice uptown New Orleans for individual, couples and group therapies. Focused on psychodynamic and CBT styles of therapy, along with EMDR
Life is wonderful and really hard at the same time. Sometimes, our struggles take over and interfere with our ability to appreciate the things we love and care about. When this happens, it can turn into developing unhealthy ways of coping and a cycle of suffering. My goal is to help you learn how to reduce suffering and to develop healthier ways of coping. My approach is behavioral; we will work together towards specific goals in a proactive manner. Clients describe me as gentle, humorous, understanding, and change-oriented. I have extensive experience treating eating disorders and anxiety disorders. I practice using an evidence-based treatment model called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model, which utilizes mindfulness, cognitive interventions, exposure techniques, and movement towards goals and values. I can also help you if you are struggling with life transitions, relationship problems, or a sense of feeling stuck in your life. I firmly believe that most people would benefit from therapy.
Welcome! I am so glad you are taking the first steps to feeling better. Whether you are suffering from relationship struggles, depression, difficulty adjusting, anxiety, loss, trauma or just need someone to talk to about your life, I welcome you to reach out to see if my services and treatment are right for you. I offer traditional psychotherapy, expressive therapy, and EMDR. My office (in-person and virtual) is a safe place to share what weighs on you, heal trauma and learn about healthy ways of coping and interacting with people in your life. Together we can make a plan for a fulfilling and positive future. The first step is reaching out. From there we can work together to help you feel better.
I am not your typical therapist, and strive to always create that emotional connection that allows us to work through any issue as a team. Most of my clients have already tried traditional therapy, and haven't been able to engage in one way or the other. Many of my clients haven't felt heard or understood, and it is a goal of mine to make therapy accessible for all. My belief as a therapist is that everyone can benefit- and should benefit from the relationship they have with their therapist. My clients believe in person centered care- and feedback goes both ways. I provide a trauma informed environment where the client gets to lead. As a therapist, my main goal is to meet you where you are at and go from there. Over time my skills have been honed for working with struggling teens, self injury, LGBT youth, and families. I have a unique approach to all of these, but have seen fantastic results in all areas. I also enjoy family coaching, and offer an on call service for families. If you need a 'ride or die' therapist- that's me. I'm committed to navigating any and all concerns and barriers when working together- no problem is too big. When we agree to work together, I am committing to finding times during the week that work for you. My availability is based on you.
