I work best with individuals who struggle with anxiety or low mood, or feel stuck in habits that no longer serve them. Many of my clients are neurodivergent, late-diagnosed, or highly self-aware but overwhelmed. They’re seeking real tools, not just talk, and want a therapist who’s authentic, supportive, and goal-oriented. If you’re ready to stop people-pleasing, reconnect with yourself, and create a life that feels meaningful, I’d love to work with you.

Hi and welcome! You've taken a brave first step in reaching out for support. College students are my favorite people to work with. This journey is such a pivotal milestone in your development. Sure, it can be exciting, fun and full of amazing memories. Yet, navigating change and more responsibilities can be stressful. You don't have to do it alone. I have a warm, non-judgmental approach that allows me to listen and join you as you continue to learn and grow. You will come away with specific tools to help you cope.
Welcome! I'm Emily Koehler, a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Indiana. I am trained in EMDR, Yoga for 12 Step Recovery, Daring to Rest, and Yoga for Trauma. I take a holistic approach to mental health and wellness. I especially love to work with college students who tend to be high achievers and perfectionists, and want to find a way of living that honors their true nature and strengths. Our sessions may include mindfulness practices, exploring what works best for YOU. I enjoy supporting clients as they learn to listen to their inner wisdom and gain clarity on next right steps. It takes courage to reach out for support, and I look forward to working with you.
Hi! Thank you for stopping by my profile. If you’re seeking relief and change in your relationships, you are in the right place! A lot of us experience relationships that we would say “bring out the worst in us”, which is a harsh reality but also a helpful warning sign that there may be some cracks in the foundation of your relationship. Maybe you’ve struggled with forgiving things that have happened in relationships that consequently leave you feeling stuck and guarded. Whether you have experienced this in a relationship or individually, beginning therapy can definitely help in sorting out the triggers that bring out character traits like doubt, defensiveness, withdraw, and criticism; however, my job is to also provide insight into ways in which you can bring out the best in others and yourself, too. As your therapist, I am committed to helping you live a life that recognizes disappointments while simultaneously empowering you with ways to continue growth through those disappointments or failed expectations. When I meet with couples and individuals, I prioritize connection and trust so that each client feels respected and understood. It’s important to me that my clients develop their own perceptions, values, and beliefs so that any change that occurs will a representation of their own personal growth. I understand that it can be a challenge to find time to fit therapy into your schedule as it is definitely a commitment both mentally and financially. To eliminate this barrier for my clients and provide the greatest ability for accommodation, all of my appointments are virtual using a secure HIPAA compliant platform. This allows me to connect with individuals and couples throughout the state of Indiana in a way that fits with their schedule and lifestyle. If you are interested in setting up an appointment, I would love to connect with you! Feel free to reach out to me via email or phone to ask any questions about my services, and I will get back to you within 24-48 hours. I look forward to working with you!
You have a story to tell. A story about you. It is a story full of hope, joy, confusion, and at times pain. Right now, you may be in that experience of confusion or pain, and feel unsure of how to make good decisions, or any decision at all. I would be honored to hear that story and journey with you as you seek to put new puzzle pieces together to find peace and clarity. All my clients (individual and couple) will come to understand their behavioral responses caused by our internal experiences of pain, what we refer to as our pain cycle. We will then map out new opportunities for personal responsibility and predictability, referred to as our peace cycle, and seek together how to practice and strengthen making decisions within our peace cycle instead of making decisions while coping with our pain cycle.

College can be an exciting time, but let’s be honest: it can also be a lot. Between juggling classes, friendships, family expectations, and figuring out your future, life can feel downright overwhelming. Maybe you’re dealing with stress or anxiety that won’t let up. Perhaps you’re struggling to manage perfectionism, self-doubt, or feeling stuck in a cycle of procrastination. As a therapist, I work with college students like you who are navigating the stress and uncertainty that often comes with this stage of life. Whether you’re trying to balance school and personal life, sort through complicated emotions, or just figure out who you are and what you want, I’m here to offer you a safe, supportive space to unpack it all. What You Can Expect in Therapy Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating or clinical—it’s about you. In our sessions, you’ll find a space where you can talk openly about what’s on your mind without fear of judgment. Whether it’s anxiety about grades, relationship struggles, or the pressure to have everything figured out, we’ll work through it together. We’ll explore what’s been holding you back and develop strategies that actually fit into your life. I use evidence-based approaches, mindfulness techniques, and tools for managing stress and anxiety, but I also believe in keeping things real, relatable, and sometimes even lighthearted. Growth doesn’t always have to feel heavy—it’s about learning how to navigate life in a way that feels true to you. Why College Students Choose Therapy Here are just a few of the reasons students come to me for support: Stress & Burnout: College life can feel like one big to-do list. We’ll work on managing your stress and setting boundaries so you can feel more in control. Anxiety & Perfectionism: Always striving for the best? Constantly overthinking? Let’s work together to quiet the pressure and find more balance. Relationships: Whether you’re navigating friendships, dating, or family dynamics, I can help you build stronger, healthier connections. Life Transitions: Moving to a new place, choosing a major, or figuring out what’s next after college? These changes can feel overwhelming, but they’re also opportunities for growth. Self-Discovery: College is a time of exploring who you are. We’ll work on building your confidence, tuning into your values, and creating a vision for your future. A Little About Me I’m Rachel McCrystal, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and I’ve dedicated my career to helping people—just like you—navigate life’s challenges with care and confidence. Outside of therapy, I’m a mother, a military spouse, and a breast cancer survivor, so I deeply understand what it’s like to feel stretched thin and uncertain about the future. My own experiences have taught me how important it is to have someone in your corner—and that’s exactly what I aim to be for you. This Is Your Time I know it can feel scary to take that first step toward therapy, but I promise, it’s worth it. You don’t have to have it all figured out before reaching out—I’ll meet you where you are and walk alongside you as you figure it out. Therapy is about creating space to breathe, reflect, and grow. It’s about learning to trust yourself, embrace your strengths, and navigate challenges with more clarity and resilience. If you’re ready to stop feeling stuck and start moving forward, let’s connect. Your next chapter is waiting, and I’d be honored to be a part of it.

I'm passionate about helping you to both recognize and build inner resilience. My holistic understanding of wellness is rooted in culturally competent and evidence based approaches to psychotherapy. This foundation is informed not only by my clinical training, but also by an eclectic background in academia, psychological research, social justice movements, a variety of spiritual and religious contexts, mentoring teens, and teaching yoga. I hold an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Christian Theological Seminary and a Clinical Mental Health Counseling license in the state of Indiana. In addition, I hold a BA in both psychology and religious studies from Indiana University, which provides me with a broad understanding of how spirituality, religion, trauma, family systems, and society can affect us both negatively and positively. Learning and growing is a lifelong process that doesn’t end with a degree or certification. I am committed to and energized about my own growth as a clinician and person. This commitment to my own wellness and growth is a cornerstone to my work as a therapist.
