Send me a message and I'd be glad to do a free consult call with you. If I'm not the right therapist for you, I'm happy to give you some names of colleagues. I use a variety of approaches like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic and Existential therapies. I'm a clinical psychologist providing individual therapy for adults and adolescents. If you're here, then you're probably looking for a change. Life can be unpredictable, complicated, and demanding. Low self-esteem, unpleasant moods, challenging relationships, and academic/professional stressors can be difficult to navigate alone. Together we can determine what a change may look like for you and develop strategies for moving towards that change. I view therapy as a collaborative process -- a joint effort towards feeling more connected, satisfied, and adaptable. I work with professionals, students, artists, musicians, parents, and many other individuals.

Have you ever wondered what therapy could be like using art materials and activities? I support college students and young adults use the power of creativity to process emotions, gain insight, work through challenges, and overcome hardships through transformative art. My style is relational, collaborative, and mindful. My clients describe me as: Grounded, relatable, supportive, humorous, comforting, non-judgmental, and patient. Using materials like paint, clay, and pastel, you'll explore your emotions, build self esteem, take healthy risks, problem solve, and sometimes just play and discover! You'll also practice coping skills, mindfulness, body awareness, relational skills, boundary setting, identifying/processing/regulating emotions, & dive into how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. I personally know what it’s like to deeply struggle through teen and young adult years. And I know what it’s like to receive help, work through it, and come out on the other side empowered. You've been feeling anxious, depressed, maybe your relationships are struggling. Feeling overwhelmed, like you are not in control of your life can get in the way of your job, school, your confidence and your ability to be present in daily life. You might be thinking, "nobody knows what I'm going through" or have thoughts telling you that “you are just not good enough.” Healing is possible. Get the help that you need to move on from the difficult things that have happened to you. It is my number one goal to support you and help you experience a sense of safety and stability. You will learn coping mechanisms and ways of managing the overwhelming feelings and emotions. I use EMDR and sensorimotor psychotherapy, which just means working with the body. I believe our bodies can help us in the process of healing. EMDR is very effective for depression, anxiety, PTSD and much more.

Change is hard! Staying stuck is harder. Psychotherapy can help you get back to feeling good about yourself, your relationships, or gain clarity about your life goals. We all struggle sometimes with life’s challenges, and we learn to handle them in many ways. If we’re lucky, we find helpful coping strategies, but sometimes what we’ve learned to do to manage stress stops working for us. Usually, that is the time when people decide to try therapy: when they are unable to find their way out of rigid patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, knowing that there is something better out there but not knowing how to find it! I am a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst in the state of Colorado, and I am also licensed in Idaho. I completed my pre-doctoral internship and my post-doctoral fellowship at the Wardenburg Health Center at the University of Colorado. Through that time I came to love working with college students. College is a time of major transitions where you get to practice independence while still being somewhat dependent. This "in-between" place can be exciting and challenging. Helping students as they strive to separate from their families of origin and come into their own is one of my favorite parts about being a therapist.
I accept Anthem, Cigna, United, and Aetna insurance. If you're embarking on finding a therapist for the first time or seeking a new one, you're taking a courageous step toward prioritizing your well-being and health. It's not an easy decision to make, especially considering life's challenges and the accumulation of stress, particularly during academic pursuits or while navigating livelihood demands. With 20 years of experience, I specialize in working with anxiety and stress among young adults. I provide support for individuals dealing with depression, grief, and trauma recovery. What sets my practice apart is my two decades of experience working with stress, anxiety, loss/grief, and traumatic experiences. I work in my office and via telehealth, and I incorporate nature and equine-assisted therapy into the healing process. When partnering with horses, I facilitate connections with the natural world, which fosters transformation and healing of trauma and stress within a safe, confidential environment. I also have an office space in Gunbarrel and work with modalities such as Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR. If you're interested in scheduling a complimentary phone call, please get in touch with me. I also take CU student insurance through Anthem and United Insurance, as well.

At Whole Connection we take Medicaid and work on a sliding scale. We provide high quality, accessible psychotherapy to Boulder County. Our team is made up of skilled therapists who provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy. In addition to outpatient therapy we offer a Trauma Recovery and Care program. Our Trauma Recovery and Care program is designed for individuals who are struggling to take control of their lives because they feel dictated by feelings that are deeply connected to their past. If you have been diagnosed with PTSD or you suspect that PTSD is underlying your current symptoms, this could be for you. We believe that all people should have access to Therapy, by clinicians and interns who are continually trained and educated and who are also taken care of (not overworked). In doing so we try and meet the needs of those of the community who come to see us by either sliding our fees or accepting medicaid insurance. Lastly we aim to provide free and affordable trainings for the larger community and clinicians to continue to learn and grow. We also take Victim's Compensation.
Hi everyone, I’m Amy, and I’m really glad you’re here. My approach to therapy is about creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and supported. I’m trained in EMDR and also like to bring in approaches such as mindfulness, walking sessions, breath work, and practical skill-building, depending on what feels most helpful for you. I also draw from DBT, which stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy. In real life, that means learning concrete tools for things like calming yourself when emotions feel overwhelming, communicating more effectively in relationships, and finding ways to balance school, life, and stress. These skills are all about helping you feel more in control and supported in the day-to-day challenges you face. I’m also a mom, and I have deep respect and admiration for young adults — I really value the unique perspectives you bring to the world. My goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate challenges, discover your strengths, and build tools that support your growth both now and in the future.
