Peregrine Counseling and Wellness is a 501c3 nonprofit mental health organization based in southeast Denver, CO. We aim to promote wellbeing from a mind-body perspective, working to heal trauma through the integration of evidence-based practices. We accept a variety of insurances and work with clients of all ages from diverse backgrounds and situations.
Working as an independent provider giving psychiatric care from my office, White Hart PMH, I help students who struggle with depression, anxiety, and attention deficit disorder and provide understanding of the progression and management of these conditions improving the overall quality of personal, academic, and professional life by bringing together physiologic (medications management), psychologic (psychotherapy support, cognitive processes, mindfulness), and lifestyle (nutrition as medicine, physical activity strategies). I find working with college students and young adults very rewarding recognizing I was once in the same place as you. I understand how challenging it can be to maintain the demands of college especially true when coping with depression, anxiety, and cognitive performance issues. These experiences lead to feeling overwhelmed and make keeping up with schoolwork difficult. How we help our clients Our philosophy is to provide a warm and engaging approach to teaching our clients the skills they need to overcome their challenges and to lead more fulfilling lives. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented, practical, and collaborative approach that helps patients change their behavior, mood, thoughts, and relationships. Therapists select techniques that are individualized for each client and may include mindfulness, exposure, and experiential exercises. We help our clients become better aware of the way their negative thoughts affect their mood, self-esteem, and relationships. Our therapists are expertly trained in a variety of cognitive and behavioral therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) as my primary modality. IFS provides an opportunity to look inside yourself and learn why you do the things you do, think the way you think, and how all the parts of you work together. You will learn how to listen to, and learn from, those nagging voices in your head. Once we start listening and learning, a depth of understanding will occur that allows for healing of wounds and releasing of inaccurate beliefs about yourself.
Amy brings a warm, compassionate, and calm energy to each patient interaction. As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, she strives to provide a caring relationship where each person can feel safe and accepted. Research increasingly supports an integrative approach to mental health care, which can include medication, therapy, nutritional support, and exploration of habits, history, and stressors. Amy will collaborate with you to find a treatment plan that is clinically appropriate and sensitive to your personal needs. She welcomes all patients but has special interest in perinatal mental health, mood disorders, ADHD, and working with teens, LGBTQ+ individuals and older adults. Amy graduated with a master’s degree in nursing from Regis University in Denver and was inspired to choose mental health as her practice specialty. Her graduate level psychiatric clinical training provided opportunities to work with diverse patient populations in and out of the hospital setting, in a corrections facility and at an outpatient addiction treatment center. Most recently, she worked at a small private outpatient clinic supporting clients experiencing a wide variety of mental health diagnoses. As a registered nurse, she worked for 16 years at St. Joseph Hospital caring for patients after surgery, during and after high-risk pregnancy, and caring for families experiencing fetal loss. She obtained certification in maternal-newborn and pain management nursing born out of passion and experience in these areas. In her free time, Amy enjoys playing flute in the Lone Tree Symphony, attending film festivals, traveling, hiking and being with family and friends. She is accepting new patients and provides visits both in person at the Lakewood office and via telehealth.

I also integrate financial therapy into sessions because money issues are often unspoken roadblocks to personal growth. Art therapy is for all ages, and I primarily work with teens and adults.
