Individuals struggling with suicidal ideation can come to The Hope Institute for treatment, to increase hope, and obtain the ability to safely wait for ongoing outpatient care, when needed. Our approach is unique, as it is based in the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), two of the most effective, evidence-based models currently available for treating suicidality. With the use of CAMS and DBT, the clinician and client will work together to solve problems. CAMS is an evidenced-based therapeutic framework for suicide-specific assessment and treatment of a patient’s suicidal risk. Each session of CAMS intentionally utilizes the patient’s input about what is and is not working. All assessment work in CAMS is collaborative; we seek to have the patient be a “co-author” of their own treatment plan (CAMS-care, 2024). DBT is a type of talk therapy that gives clients skills in regulating their emotions, tolerating distress, maintaining healthy relationships, practicing mindfulness and thinking from perspectives other than their own. THI is home to multiple clinicians who are certified and trained in CAMS and DBT. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based behavior focused treatment intended to help clients build a life worth living while reducing suicidal and self-harming behaviors. Parent and teen groups are available. DBT groups provide clients with five core skills to manage intense emotions and enhance day-to-day life: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and dialects.
I believe in empowering my clients to access and to unfold to their own inner wisdom and brilliance. Rather than providing all the answers or solutions, I facilitate a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients can investigate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My academic journey has taken me to many different countries, and I am passionate about combining my interest in western psychology with the ancient wisdom of Buddhist psychology. I earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Canterbury University, New Zealand (2009) and her master’s degree in motivational psychology from the University in Zurich, Switzerland (2012). She also holds an additional master's degree from Naropa University in contemplative psychology. I bring my unique blend of experiences to her work. Among other adventures, I have worked in Zanskar Valley in Ladakh, Northern India and has studied psychology in Nepal, Indian. I have also taught Yoga and Yoga therapy to athletes. I take a trauma informed approach to therapy, combining her training in Somatic Experiencing with other contemplative approaches as well as elements of IFS, Polyvagal, solution focused therapy, and positive psychology. When life feels like too much to hold on your own, there is overwhelm, anxiety, uncertainty, or you could just use some extra support, therapy can be a beautiful choice. Therapy is many things; understanding old, habitual patterns, processing painful or confusing emotions, cultivating resources, reclaiming pleasure, and developing a trusted relationship with another person to process the most vulnerable parts. If talk therapy has already been tried and feels stale, then art and creativity, somatics, nervous system awareness, and nature connection can offer a profound alternative in your therapeutic journey. This is where I come in. I weave together art and creativity, somatics, nature-connection, and mindfulness. As well as reflection, contemplation, and talking to integrate. I work well with themes of identity, times of transition, expansion, self-compassion, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, decision making, burn-out, relationship dynamics, addiction, trauma, and parts work.
This transitional phase can be both exciting and overwhelming for young adults as they navigate the intricacies of gaining independence, making career choices, forging relationships, and finding their rightful place in the world. Amidst these challenges, many also face the complexities of managing anxiety, coping with depression, adjusting to the realities of ‘adulting,’ resolving roommate issues, and confronting substance use concerns. I provide a compassionate and supportive environment, offering practical guidance to help young adults navigate these multifaceted changes. My approach is designed to help overcome these obstacles, address emotional and mental health challenges, and foster a deep sense of purpose and direction.
Explore yourself and your relationships in a safe space where individuals and couples can ask their questions, speak their truth, look within, and grant one's self permission to feel, be supported, and evolve. Sessions can take place indoors at the office or outdoors, whether it be sitting alongside a river bed, walking a forest trail, or climbing a rock wall. Therapy is a leap of courage and a significant commitment to yourself and those around you. Mental health is achieved through life experiences and managing the happenings of life that unfold before you. You are the ambassador of your mental health!
Hi, I’m Rebecca! I’m a licensed therapist (LMFT), and I work with students who are navigating all the messy, beautiful, confusing parts of being human—especially during a time like college, when everything feels like it’s shifting. You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. Maybe you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who you’re becoming, and that’s okay. It’s normal to want some support while you're figuring things out. In our work together, you’ll find a space that’s calm, non-judgmental, and focused on you. I use a mix of approaches—CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused work—but more than anything, I show up with compassion, curiosity, and respect for your pace and your story. I became a therapist because I know how powerful it can be to feel truly seen and heard. I bring my own love of creativity, deep listening, and belief in people’s resilience into the room with me. You don’t have to have the right words or a plan, just bring yourself. We’ll figure it out together.

A lot of people say they knew at a young age they would be a therapist, but that wasn’t me. I grew up in a military family and thought I would continue that tradition and be a stay-at-home mom. Instead, I found myself in a journalism career and a marriage I didn’t like. Starting over after 30, I chose to return to school and pursue a degree in social work. Since then, I’ve worked with the military, in inpatient facilities, and in outpatient care. I love working with women who find themselves “outside the box” when it comes to societal expectations (child-free/childless, unmarried, or just a-plain-ol’ rebel). I love to focus on resiliency, self-improvement/self-esteem, personal growth, and even a bit of spirituality (if that's your thing). I'm a very laid-back, nontraditional therapist. I believe you are the expert in your own life and, sometimes, we just need some guidance or permission to do the things we know we need to do. I don't assign homework cause, frankly, I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes, but I will suggest some tasks or actions that may be something to focus on between sessions. I also expect clients to show up with a discussion topic or something to start us off with; again, the time is yours to use as you feel best. I have very eclectic interests. Two things that are very important to me are spirituality and non-traditional relationships. I feel both have their own challenges and prejudices to overcome. I'm always looking for ways to include and incorporate my client's spiritual beliefs (if they choose to share) into sessions and help them build a strong foundation. Nontraditional relationships (including kink dynamics) can be a challenge to bring to therapy as there's often a perceived level of judgment—not here! I celebrate however your relationship looks and work to help you create the most nurturing and healthy relationship however that looks. One of my core values is curiosity, so I love it when I get to learn a little something from my clients. Having grown up in a military family that moved every three years like clockwork, learning about people and cultures has been a huge part of my life. I encourage my clients to practice showing and embodying their authenticity with me so they may go out into the world more confidently. I believe we all have something beautiful to share and learn from each other and I encourage those I work with to explore that on a deeper level.
I specialize in women's mental health (child-free by choice, career advancement & difficulties, relational dynamics, high-power positions, personal growth focus), and LGBTQ+, transgender, and non-binary focused care, including surgery support letters. I help clients make sense of their lives through connecting with their own emotional experiences. I recognize the influence that injustice, oppression and family upbringing can have. I work to frame the emotional struggles in terms of what they are - powerful survival mechanisms that served you well in the past, yet need to be revisited to further grow. Many clients enter therapy feeling vulnerable. Through working on empowerment, from a feminist and queer theory lens, I help the client learn that they are in charge of their lives outside of therapy. It is my hope that through therapy, I am able to assist my clients in living a more congruent, fulfilling, and meaningful life. I am a PSYPACT provider.
Whether you are going through a transition, burdened with anxiety, depression, school stressors, trauma, family, or relationship conflict, I understand what it feels like to struggle and I am here to help you navigate through tough times to foster your own resilience and help you thrive. You will be welcomed with genuine compassion, a sense of humor, and a supportive non-judgmental environment.

We use a process of looking at the imagination, loose associations, and dream material to help integrate subconscious depths with conscious material. The invisible is welcome and we will work best to support you. Surprise us with the breadth of the unknown. We work with individuals, not issues.
