Hi! Many of the clients I work with are looking to work through trauma and work towards building and maintaining fulfilling relationships, process trauma from relationships, reduce anxiety and depression, and learn healthy coping skills. In sessions I place high importance on the relationships I build with my clients as this plays the most crucial role in therapy success. I model my values by maintaining an approach that is affirming, trauma-informed, open-minded, and compassionate while also being direct. My approach will honor your unique experience and be focused on your personal needs. I incorporate CBT, RCT, EMDR & narrative therapy into our sessions to help you navigate harmful thinking patterns/behaviors, process trauma, & have healthier relationships with yourself/others.
I work best with women who are navigating major life transitions and feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves. Many of my clients are in seasons like pregnancy, postpartum, early motherhood, or adjusting to shifting roles and identities. They may struggle with anxiety, mood changes, emotional overwhelm, or feeling like they’ve lost a sense of who they are. My clients often care deeply about their families but feel exhausted trying to hold everything together. They may feel unseen, invalidated, or alone in their experiences. They want a space where they can be honest without judgment and begin to understand themselves more clearly. If you’re looking for support that feels compassionate, grounded, and focused on helping you reconnect with yourself, you’re likely a great fit for my practice.
Everyone struggles with relationship issues, anxiety/worry, work stress, substance use, or uncomfortable feelings. It can also be extremely difficult to find balance and perspective sometimes. My goal is to provide a safe and organized framework for identifying these problems and developing new skills or ways of thinking about them. Ultimately, I help my clients develop the tools needed to manage independently and live a life they're excited about. Due to the current state of the world, I'm also working with a lot of individuals who are feeling isolated and cut off from their "normal" support systems to help them manage life's issues. I grew up in the Dallas area, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in psychology. I then attended graduate school at Assumption University because of its affiliation with the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. My clinical training was thus focused on a cognitive behavioral approach to treating mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder as well as substance abuse issues. I was also intensively trained during my internship in Dialectical-Behavior Therapy and I utilize this skills-based approach to help adolescents and adults struggling to build and maintain relationships, manage their emotions or crises effectively. My approach to therapy is problem-focused and very much operates in the present. I collaborate with clients to identify goals, develop skills, and implement them in a structured way. The area of focus in therapy tends to be on reframing thoughts or changing behaviors with the end goal of improving mood or circumstance.
Do you ever feel unheard, unseen, or misunderstood? Maybe even hurt by cliche responses you hear in your life such as “everything happens for a reason,” or “everything will be ok” or “you’re strong and you’ll get through this.” Are you feeling anxious or overthinking and playing scenarios in your mind? Questioning whether if this is the right decision and how it would impact your life? Worried about disappointing others as expectations were placed upon you. Or wondering if this is the right degree program for me? Maybe not recognizing yourself anymore. Overwhelmed by the pressure of life that it's difficult to be motivated. Not knowing what the future holds can be a scary feeling. I would like to come alongside you on this journey to help you to have a renewed and empowered life. Imagine being free from shame or guilt to be who you want to be. To feel confident in your decision making. Being able to let go of others' expectations that were placed on you. To be able to live in the present moment and be at peace of the unknown. You can expect to walk away from our sessions feeling heard, validated, and encouraged. I am a therapist with 13 years experience who recently relocated to Maryland. I have specialized my work in the medical setting with those with chronic illnesses and have also cared for many in the LGBTQI+ community. I enjoy providing counseling to pre-teens, teens and young adults. I have had the privilege to witness the most vulnerable moments with my clients and then observe their growth, healing, and evolution. I would be honored to play a role in your journey too. The idea of therapy is challenging for some. I focus on meeting my clients at their comfort level and prioritize their personal goals and needs. I utilize evidence-based modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Both of these examine the connections between thoughts, feelings and actions to help individuals make changes in their life. I also have training in: Emotional Freedom Technique, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Internal Family Systems I believe that counseling should capitalize on the client’s creativity, imagination, and interests. I am in the process of being paneled with Carefirst/BCBS (PPO, POS, HMO and Federal plans) and Johns Hopkins Hospital EHP (However, if you have a different insurance plan and it offers out-of-network benefits, you should receive some.)

Courage isn’t about having no fear—it’s about feeling it and walking straight toward it. And let’s be honest, some days courage is just answering the phone, replying to that text, or—YIKES—opening the front door. Maybe you’ve mastered looking “fine” on the outside, while on the inside you’re desperately hoping no one gets close enough to see the real you. I get it. We all want life to be easy, but counseling? Yeah, it’s not always easy. It’s work. It’s showing up. It’s sticking with it when it feels uncomfortable. If you’re still reading this, I’m guessing something in your life feels heavy and you wish it could just magically change. I can’t promise magic—but I can promise to walk beside you every step of the way, helping you find your footing and your balance again.
