Hey! Excited to meet you. I believe that we all deserve access to mental health care! We deserve a safe place to express our feelings and work on becoming healthier versions of ourselves. I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed with course work, professors, expectations, and balancing your every day life. I'm here to help.
If you’re a college student feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, you’re not alone and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Many students I work with appear capable and driven on the outside, yet internally feel exhausted, pressured, or unsure they can keep going at the same pace. Constant stress, anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, or self-doubt can quietly build until it starts to affect your mental health, relationships, sleep, or academic performance. I work with college students and young adults who are navigating high expectations, academic pressure, and major life transitions. You may be adjusting to college, questioning your direction, struggling to balance responsibilities, or feeling like you are never doing enough. Therapy can be a place to slow things down, make sense of what you are experiencing, and begin feeling more grounded and in control again. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you feel better in your day-to-day life. I take time to understand your experiences so we can identify what is contributing to your stress and develop practical tools you can actually use. Together, we work on managing anxiety, reducing overwhelm, strengthening self-esteem, and building healthier ways to cope so you can move forward with greater clarity and confidence. Clients often describe me as calm, approachable, and easy to talk to. I aim to create a space where you do not have to have everything figured out and where you can be honest without fear of judgment. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you are returning with new goals, you will be met with understanding, consistency, and support. Alongside coping skills, we focus on self-reflection and insight to help you understand patterns that may be holding you back and create meaningful, lasting change. If you’re unsure whether therapy is the right next step or want to see if we’re a good fit, you’re welcome to schedule a 15-minute consultation. This gives you a chance to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and decide whether working together feels right for you. Reaching out for support does not mean you are failing. For many students, it is the step that helps them feel steadier, more confident, and better equipped to handle the demands of college life. You deserve support during this chapter, and you do not have to go through it alone.

There's an exhaustion and isolation that often come with mental health struggles. It’s easy to feel trapped in a cycle, simultaneously yearning for change and fearing it – especially when the cycle involves suicidal ideation, self-harm, substance use, addiction, or disordered eating. They all become ingrained in one's identity, making the idea of letting go terrifying. I want my clients to know there's more to them than their struggles. I'm here to support and guide them as they uncover their resilience and empowerment underneath the depression, anxiety, bipolar, trauma, and PTSD. I meet my clients where they are, simultaneously holding space for their emotions, thoughts, and current behaviors; all while gently guiding them out of the patterns that have been keeping them stuck. My goal is to strike a balance in our time together, seamlessly blending acceptance and change strategies to ensure a comprehensive and supportive experience. If you’re ready to discover your authentic self underneath self-destructive tendencies, please reach out. You deserve to live a life in which you are excited to participate—not just a life you passively tolerate. That life is out there, waiting for you. I would love to walk alongside you on your journey to help you take hold of it.

Do you find yourself beaten down with negative self talk? Do you struggle to shake the nagging feeling of discomfort, even when things seem to be going okay? I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes.
