I am one of the leading experts in pre-surgical psychological evaluations. I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes. I also serve as an Associate Editor for two esteemed journals in the field – Psychological Assessment and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases.
My goal is to understand your internal experience, and support you through challenges. I utilize approaches that aim to change maladaptive thinking and behavioral patterns, identify strengths and values, establish healthy daily routines, and increase self acceptance. I specialize in working with people who feel stressed or overwhelmed with life circumstances, and need help with structure, boundaries, communication skills, and healthy coping. I help clients take control of their life by focusing on self improvement and clarifying their needs and wants.
Are you stressed out, burnt out, overwhelmed, and just OVER IT? I'm here to provide a safe, therapeutic space for you to process your experiences. I work well with people who are overly anxious and have been told they're "overthinkers." Starting therapy can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be difficult. It doesn't have to be scary. Getting started is the hardest part, but once you're in, you'll be able to jump in and learn new tools, process your emotions, and just VENT sometimes. You need someone on your side who can GET you. Someone who wants to help you and understand you. Email me to get started because I'd love to meet! I provide virtual counseling for residents of Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma, and I'm available evenings and weekends!
My practice exists to help high-achieving people cope with stress, anxiety and depression so they can feel better and live the life they want.
I love helping all people, but I truly have a passion for helping young adults, BIPOC women, perfectionists, overthinkers, and highly self-aware individuals that can't feel their feelings. I truly believe that part of my purpose in life is to help people find their peace. I practice psychotherapy, music therapy, and therapeutic movement. We can develop a plan using all three if you'd like! I also cuss a little bit, there's no evidence behind it - I just feel like it helps. If you're a young adult with any of the issues mentioned above, reach out for a consult. If you don't see your issue listed and my profile resonates with you, please reach out! You know yourself the best. I've worked with individuals throughout the lifespan with varying concerns and disorders.

Relationships are the most rewarding and often the most difficult parts of our lives. If you're struggling in your romantic relationship, friendships, family or even in your relationship with yourself...you're not alone. Negative thoughts and feelings can keep you from the life you want with the people you love. Counseling can give you the support and encouragement you need to help move forward and find new, better ways to communicate and connect. It can be difficult to know who to trust with the things you're going through. Therapy offers you a confidential, comfortable place to talk about the things in your life that are hard to share with others. Together, we can uncover your strengths and use them to create a plan to give you relief from the uncomfortable place you're in today.

I offer a warm, welcoming approach to therapy. Clients often feel better after the first session and grow on that progress with each subsequent session.... Learning how to thrive, not just survive. Specialties include: anxiety, bipolar, depression, and psychosis. I have experience with Veterans, after working eleven years at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX.
I believe that healing occurs through relationships, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey. Health is something we can never stop growing in. Together we will establish goals, and I will equip you with tools and resources to use not only in our sessions, but most importantly, into your daily life, no matter the circumstance. I will be right there with you as you learn more about yourself and the world you are a part of. I believe that health is something we can never stop growing in. Are you stressed out and overwhelmed? Losing sight of your goals? Are 'old issues' getting in the way of moving forward? I care about "what happened to you" and I strive to provide a supportive space for you to share your concerns. Effective work can result in your improved ability to function and to pursue your best life. I offer acceptance without judgment, practical tools, constructive education and a conviction that you are capable! I do accept some insurance (Aetna and United Health) via Alma. Please contact me and I can walk you through the simple process. My approach is wellness-focused and is best suited for those who are not in crisis and who are ready to engage in deeper work. Developing increased self-compassion, radical acceptance and understanding about how we humans use self-blame to survive can help you move beyond the effects of trauma. I have a special interest in supporting persons who have been members of cults or high-control groups. These may be religious, psychological, treatment oriented or other. I offer online sessions via Zoom and some flexibility in my schedule (other than what is posted).
We are not biologically wired to cope with life alone. Even if we are not "alone" sometimes the ones we love lack the ability to fully support or understand us. Even if they may be a solid part of our support system. This is where therapy comes in. I specialize in guiding individuals through the intricate terrain of strong emotions. I have completed extensive training and research on healing strategies targeted for those trying to heal from adverse life experiences, trauma, ptsd, c-ptsd (attatchment/early childhood wounds) anxiety, depression, anger, and borderline personality disorder. **Treatment Modalities:** I am trained in EMDR, designed to reduce emotional distress due to traumatic life experiences. I also have special training in its use for helping those with borderline personality disorder and early childhood wounds, and anxiety-related issues. EMDR is considered a first-line treatment for trauma and has been shown to reduce emotional distress and accelerate the healing process. In addition, I use cognitive processing therapy (CPT), which has similar aims through different treatment techniques. Somatic (mind-body) techniques are also incorporated throughout the treatment process. We can talk about what will be the best fit for you. I also incorporate dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) skills for emotion regulation to tackle issues such as anxiety, depression, and anger. My clients will have take-home strategies that they can use outside of therapy. If you think we would be a good fit, I can be reached by call, text, or email.

The Trauma-Informed Campus Collective is a clinical practice serving college students exclusively. Our work focuses on trauma-informed care with students navigating complex family systems, identity development, emotional regulation, and belonging within the college environment.
The clients I see are sometimes in college experiencing feelings of overwhelm or feeling low. These clients describe their challenges as feeling, “como con miedo,” and also, “no se que tengo.” Other clients I see are future counselors who are at the beginning of their careers and facing imposter syndrome ( “I must’ve slipped through the cracks to get to where I am now”), self-criticism (“Why can’t I get my life together!"), or burnout (feeling fatigued and like you can never catch up). These clients are usually part of activist movements or workplaces and I believe in helping the healers that are out in the world making a positive impact on society. I benefited greatly from my own experiences with counseling when I was in grad school (still do) and I hope to provide the same non-judgmental opportunities to cry or laugh or both to future clients. In my work I value humility, curiosity, self-compassion and humor. I believe these are needed to provide authenticity and support at a time when people starting out in their fields of work are taking in new information that is stretching/challenging perspectives and care for the self is a necessity to continue doing challenging work.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe in the transformative power of empathy, understanding, and connection. I see therapy as a collaborative journey where both the therapist and clients work together to uncover and address underlying issues. I believe that every individual and relationship has the capacity for growth and change when given the right tools and support. I hold that a strong therapeutic alliance—built on trust and openness—is essential for effective therapy. My approach centers on the belief that understanding and improving relationship dynamics can lead to profound personal and relational growth. I am committed to helping clients develop healthier communication patterns, navigate life transitions, and enhance their emotional resilience. By fostering a supportive environment, I aim to empower clients to build meaningful, fulfilling relationships and lead balanced, enriched lives.
