Hello! I’m Alexis. Life can be tough, and sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain of how to move forward. But what if there’s a way to not only manage life’s challenges but to thrive in spite of them? As a licensed clinical social worker in Texas and Florida, I specialize in helping individuals conquer anxiety, depression, and emotional roadblocks while building stronger, more resilient lives. Therapy is a powerful journey toward self-discovery, and I’m here to guide you through it. Whether you're dealing with stress, navigating a big life change, or simply trying to reconnect with your true self, we’ll work together to create lasting, positive change in a safe and supportive environment. Congratulations for taking the first step and showing up for yourself.
I work with adolescents and adults suffering from mood and anxiety disorders, complex trauma, women’s issues, narcissistic abuse, attachment issues, and personality disorders. I also work with couples to improve communication, develop healthy conflict-resolution skills, and create a long-term family vision and mission that restores harmony in everyday life. I believe psychoeducation and a personalized mental health care plan empower clients to make lasting changes quickly. I create a unique treatment plan for each client with specific, measurable goals. I use therapeutic breathwork, CBT, and DBT to help clients quickly reduce symptoms while evaluating emotional and behavioral patterns that may require longer-term therapy. I approach personality disorders, attachment dysfunction, and identity confusion from a developmental and psychodynamic perspective and have experience treating borderline, narcissistic, and schizoid personality disorders. I earned my B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, and after a career as a business executive, returned to school in 2020, earning a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health counseling from Tarleton State University. I am an alumna of the national women’s leadership academy, Leadership America, and was selected in 2015 to be a patient advocate for the National Center for Healthcare Research in Washington, D.C. I am a writer, public speaker, and patient-first healthcare activist, and have published many written works about the dangers of using pharmaceuticals and medical devices cleared (not fully approved) through the FDA's lax 510k marketing process. I enjoy gardening, all forms of creativity and self-expression, love to learn, and believe that where there is humor, there is healing. My husband and I live in Central Texas and enjoy camping with our two dogs and parakeet. We have two adult sons and three granddaughters and believe in the restoration of family relationships as a path to well-being.
Welcome! I am excited to meet you and work with you. I love working with college students. This is such a special time in your life. Transitioning from home, into college and into the workforce can be exciting but stressful. Many struggle with homesickness, stress from academics, problems with social adjustment or time management. Or just simply suddenly dealing with depression, anxiety, or past trauma that finally needs to be addressed. No matter the issues, I am here to help.
I help young adults who feel out of control of their lives. Stressed Out. Overwhelmed. Not quite sure how this whole adulting thing works. Trying to balance school, work, family, friends, and relationships. My clients struggle like you do. Despite being smart, driven, and funny, life is hard. When clients first come in, they may not feel enjoyment in the same activities they used to love. They may tend to mindlessly watch Youtube instead of completing their to-do list. They feel so stressed that they don’t finish tasks, and then beat themselves up for not completing it. The cycle continues as they feel worse and worse. My clients come into therapy looking for support, avoid doing things they used to love, have trouble connecting with family and friends, and find themselves second guessing their decisions. Choices may seem overwhelming, as if one wrong move sends them back to square one. They can’t sleep at night and have trouble completing assignments for college. In counseling, clients and I work together to see their choices in a wider lens and find ways that they are in control. We come up with plans to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Please contact me if you’re ready to take control of your life and be the person you want to be.
My clients would describe me as easy to talk to, a great listener, honest, and informed. I find great value in creating a foundation of trust and comfortability so my clients can work to meet their therapeutic goals. Counseling is most effective when the client feels accepted and believes the therapist genuinely cares about the topics discussed during session. I specialize in treating young adults, adults, couples, and families. I have over 8 years of experience treating those struggling with depression, trauma-related disorders, anxiety related disorders, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, suicide/self-harm, and systematic family conflict to include parenting issues.
Whether you're navigating current life stressors, experiencing anxiety or depression, or wanting to better understand patterns in your relationships, therapy can be a space for meaningful reflection and growth. As a licensed clinical psychologist, I take a collaborative and integrative approach, working with you to explore life transitions, relationship dynamics, and attachment patterns while building tools to support daily functioning. I strive to offer a warm, affirming, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore, heal, and grow at their own pace. I am currently welcoming new clients.
