Starting therapy can be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about yourself. Therapy can also come at a time in your life that feels most difficult and challenging. My goal is to assist, encourage, and teach my clients how to reach their full potential. I tend to work with clients who are facing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and various life adjustments. I feel that I am a positive support for those who find themselves in a time of their lives they may be looking for some extra help. Therapy can guide you into a better direction of life that you are hoping for, and I am here to help!

College can be a wild mix of freedom and stress... with friend drama, missing home but wanting independence, figuring out what you want to do with your life, financial pressure, loneliness when friend groups shift, and the everyday weight of adult responsibilities starting to pile up. It’s a lot to carry, and it makes sense if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to handle it all. And then, when you’re finally ready to reach out for support, finding a therapist can feel like another full-time assignment. Scrolling through endless profiles feels a little like online dating... you’re reading way too many bios, everyone sounds kind of the same, and you’re left wondering who you’ll actually click with. Add in the stress of costs, schedules, and trying to figure out if they’ll really get what you’re going through, and it’s exhausting before you even start. My goal is to make that step less overwhelming and give you a space where you don’t have to perform, pretend, or have it all figured out.

As a therapist, I encourage you to bring the “messiest” parts of yourself into the room during our sessions. I strive to create a safe, yet empowering space for all my clients, especially for those who hold marginalized identities. I let you set the pace of treatment and help you build confidence in your innate abilities to persevere and heal during difficult seasons of life. I also encourage you to provide feedback throughout our time together, so that we can make treatment as impactful and positive as possible. I believe that the most important aspect of our work together involves building a strong therapeutic relationship, so you can also expect a deep interest in you as a person outside of presenting concerns or diagnoses. Feel free to reach out if I sound like a good fit for you and your current needs. Either way, I wish you luck on your healing journey!

Anxiety is our least-welcome companion. It holds us back when we try to take a step forward. It stands in the way when we try to connect with others. It convinces us that the world is scary and the safest place is our home. Anxiety wears many masks, but the best defense is learning how to identify it when it pops into our lives and combat it with a variety of techniques you will learn in therapy. Together we can chip away at what holds you back in your life and build strong coping skills that will prepare you for a successful life ahead. Right now I'm offering both in-person and Tele-therapy appointments. Check out my website SeanDCleary.com for more information or if you'd like to get in touch. I look forward to meeting you.

The world we live in is complicated and ever-changing, and the patterns we develop to address the challenges of life often cease to work for us...in fact, no strategy for living, relating to others, or to ourselves can ever work optimally forever. A depression, a personal life crisis, marital upsets and family conflicts are painful but often signal an important opportunity for self-reflection, assessment of "where I've been" in life, and the chance to create a new pathway for moving forward. This is where an expert therapist can be of value. When I work with a client, I listen to both the words of their story and also the feelings within the words. Often people have never felt free and safe to truly express themselves, to share a painful life event. Therapy can provide that opportunity. FaceTime and Skype sessions...I've been doing them for some time now. It's a great way to have an appointment when you can't get to the office, and it's also an ideal way to begin therapy and determine if I'm the right therapist for you.

Therapy is more about building new associations, making new, healthier default pathways. It is almost as if therapy is taking your two-lane dirt road and building a four-lane freeway alongside it. The old road stays, but you don’t use it much anymore. Therapy is building a better alternative, a new default. And that takes repetition, and time, honestly, it works best if someone understands how the brain changes. This is why understanding how trauma impacts our health is essential for everyone.” ~ Dr. Bruce Perry I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in various mental health settings such as Outpatient facilities, Inpatient hospitals, Crisis Center, but mainly in public and private alternative school settings. I have served children, adolescents/teens as well as adults. My expertise is in treating clients with ADHD, ODD, depression, mood disorders, stress and anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, coping with grief and loss, loss of motivation, self-esteem and confidence. I attended Cairn University, where I received my Master of Science in Christian Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Bible with a concentration in Social Work at Lancaster Bible College. I also hold a Trauma-Informed certification as well as NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics) certification where I specialize in helping clients utilize various tools to regulate certain regions of the brain. I utilize various therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Support Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Reality Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Social Skills Training. I believe in incorporating different therapies according to client’s treatment plan and goals. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
