Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
In this world full of stressors, it is common to feel emotionally and mentally maxed out, disconnected or disheartened. My goal is to create a therapeutic space where you feel safe and comfortable being fully you, and can practice cultivating a relationship with yourself that is compassionate, curious, resourced, and hopeful. I work with adults navigating relationship issues past or present, anxiety, depression, trauma, difficult life transitions, grief, and more. Together we can process what you’ve been through and build the capacity to grow into the person you wish to become. I primarily draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports the development of psychological flexibility, mindfulness, and value-based living; and psychodynamic therapy, which helps uncover how past experiences shape our current patterns, desires, and unmet needs. Whether you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, brokenhearted, or simply looking for a space to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, I’m here to support you. I’ll challenge you when needed, always with care and respect, and encourage you every step of the way with warmth and humor. You can reach me by phone at 503-334-2585 or email me at kiraehrmann@introspectivecollective.org.
We offer in person and virtual therapy to support those looking to increase their overall functioning, process past trauma, and improve their emotional state. Our clinicians specialize in many modalities with a focus on EMDR for deep emotional and somatic healing.
I offer individual therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, perfectionism, self-criticism, intrusive thoughts, and relationship challenges. Together, we will work to cultivate self-compassion, navigate painful thoughts and emotions, and build a life that feels meaningful to you. Our work will be engaging, thoughtful, and supportive. I also recognize that counseling can sometimes feel difficult. During those moments, I am committed to being fully present and honoring your exploration of where you have been, where you are, and where you hope to go. I am here to meet you where you are, using a range of approaches to fit your needs. I strive to cultivate a safe space for geeks, gamers, and lifelong learners, offering care that is LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally sensitive, anti-racist, trauma-informed, and weight-inclusive.
I work with college students, graduate students, and adults navigating life's many transitions. Before entering private practice, I worked in two university counseling centers, where my clinical work focused on supporting young and emerging adults as they managed academic stress, relationships, identity development, anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life decisions. I especially enjoy working with highly sensitive people (HSPs), adults with ADHD, and those exploring or adjusting to a late diagnosis of autism. I also have extensive experience supporting clients exploring questions related to gender and sexual identity. Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who feel overwhelmed, stuck in recurring emotional or relationship patterns, or exhausted from trying to meet others’ expectations while feeling disconnected from themselves. My style is warm, collaborative, and relational. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for lasting change. Together, we'll explore the emotional and relational patterns that shape your life, helping you develop greater insight, emotional awareness, self-compassion, and new ways of responding to challenges. My work is grounded in psychodynamic and relational therapy, while also incorporating mindfulness- and compassion-based approaches, as well as somatic awareness and experiential interventions when they are helpful. I tailor therapy to each person, balancing reflection and insight with practical tools that help you feel more connected, resilient, and authentic. I practice from a feminist and anti-oppressive perspective and strive to create a culturally responsive, affirming space where all aspects of your identity and experience are welcomed with curiosity, respect, and compassion.

I hold a Master of Social Work Degree from Portland State University, and have undergraduate education in public health, aging across the lifespan, and substance use counseling. I grew up in a large, diverse city and had the opportunity to interact with people of all different cultures, ages, and life paths. This has directly influenced my counseling perspective. I offer an eclectic approach, providing different therapy models and interventions to match the diversity of the client experience. What helps one person may not be ideal for another, and I am here to support each client as they explore the routes that inspire them. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, nondirective therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, Jungian therapy, and others. I also offer psychoeducation and coaching in anger management, conflict resolution, and nonviolent communication. I offer play therapy, parent coaching, and collaborative problem solving for families with young children. I work dynamically and intuitively with a focus on mind body awareness. I combine my knowledge from natural medicine, energy healing, authentic relating, social justice work, ecofeminism, conscious philosophy, yoga, meditation, nonviolent communication, to serve in a holistic and transpersonal approach. I believe that we are all whole and complete. I believe learning is remembering. I believe that each person deserves to be seen, heard, held and loved. I have worked intimately with the concepts of being and belonging. I take into account systemic issues and intersectionality with every client I work with. Some of these populations include: LGBTQI+, BIPOC, Buddhist contemplative, kink/sex positive, body positive communities. I have also worked intimately with survivors of domestic abuse, those dealing with codependent tendencies, eating disorders, chronic illness/pain, developmental trauma and grief. Overall, I work best with those who are curious about being more in their bodies and are dedicated to the growth and learning process.

I create a supportive space in which you can feel seen, understood, and accepted, and in which your lived experience and your values are centered. I offer in-person therapy sessions in Portland, Oregon, and telehealth sessions throughout California and Oregon. I admire the bravery it takes to begin therapy. For those of us who have been harmed in relationships, it takes time to build trust. Together, we'll decide on a pace and process that feels safe and supportive. Visit flourishauthentically.com for more info and to request a free 15-minute call so you can decide if I'm the best fit for your healing journey. My experience and how I work: My work has been dedicated to serving survivors of unhealthy relationships and interpersonal trauma (e.g. intimate partner violence, sexual assault, community violence, immigration trauma, intergenerational trauma, and systemic and historical oppression). I’ve specialized in supporting people living with HIV/AIDS, complex health issues, chronic pain, and substance use in relationship to trauma. I’ve worked extensively with gender-expansive (Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, Genderqueer, etc.) clients and provided WPATH assessments/letters for gender affirming surgeries. I am a compassionate, experienced, and affirming therapist, working from a feminist and liberatory framework. I identify as a white, queer, cisgender able-bodied woman with lived experience relevant to my work. I think about identity, suffering, and healing in the context of the oppressive systems that impact peoples’ lives (e.g. patriarchy, white supremacy, homophobia, transphobia, racism, xenophobia, fatphobia, ableism, etc.), and understand that healing ourselves in turn benefits our loved ones and communities. I create a supportive space in which you can feel seen, understood, believed, and in which your lived experience and your values are centered. I am aware of the power dynamics that exist in a therapeutic relationship, especially when our identities differ, and welcome this often-avoided issue into the room. No need to perform or edit yourself. This is a chance to show up as your full brave self.
