Do you often find yourself comparing yourself to those around you, wondering how they all seem to have it all figured out while you are just trying to hold it together? You are stressed, on edge, and wondering if anything will ever change. You may find yourself struggling to enjoy things in life, maybe even pulling back from friends and family because they may not understand. You are ready to make a change, to find balance, to be you – but you have no idea where to begin. Imagine what it would be like to feel like you aren’t just trying to make it through the day, but are actively participating in your life. You could learn to quiet your self-doubt and create space for self-compassion and curiosity. You could begin to understand your needs and how to respond, learning to focus your energy on the things that matter to you. My approach begins with meeting you where you are and developing a genuine and trusting relationship. Together, we will work to find tools that help you better manage your daily stressors so that you can feel safe in exploring, understanding, healing, and growing. If this resonates with you, schedule a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

Sun Counseling and Wellness is a consortium of providers that have many years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. We are passionate about treating the WHOLE person and helping you achieve a balanced and fulfilling life. We use modern and evidence-based therapeutic techniques and are individualized and creative in our work with clients. My counseling philosophy puts the client in the driver's seat. I firmly believe you are the expert on your own concerns. I believe in the power of a person-centered approach. I believe in collaborating with my clients in order to assist them with understanding their underlying concerns while identifying and utilizing their strengths in order to accomplish their goals. Together, we'll work as a team to clarify your vision for your ideal life. Though you'll be doing the work in your own life, you can feel safe knowing you have a trusted collaborator along the way. My counseling style is warm, creative, and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I consider myself an eclectic therapist, drawing from a number of different approaches, based on the presenting concern of the client "in front of me." I borrow heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Theory, which teaches individuals to challenge and change unhelpful cognitive distortions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes) and behaviors, which can leas to improved emotional regulation along with the development of effective and helpful coping strategies to address concerns and whole life wellness. I grew up here in North Carolina, hailing from Fayetteville. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte in 2012 where I started out working with at-risk youth in community based mental health. I now have over five years post-grad experience providing individual and group therapy. I continued providing a full range of services that helped individuals of various ages and families overcome addiction and mental health concerns along the way. Since graduating with my Masters of Social Work in 2016 from UNC Charlotte, I have worked primarily with college aged students within university counseling centers. I also enjoy supporting future generations in our mental health field by serving as an adjunct professor at UNC Charlotte since 2021. I enjoy working with tweens (12 and up), teens, young adults (18-24) to adults 24+. I celebrate you for taking the first step in this journey towards change - be it big or small. I will be here to support and empower you along the way! I look forward to working with you. Talk soon!

Emily Dickinson wrote, “Hope is the thing with feathers,” comparing hope to a bird, noting that even something small, sometimes unseen, holds power that can bring you through hardships. Sparrows carry symbolism across many cultures, described to be a representation of resilience, joy, freedom, hope, and community. Here at House of Sparrow we want you to know that you are seen, you are valuable, and that you carry more strength than you know.

Hi there! I’m Koketta Shelton, and I’m a therapist dedicated to supporting college students like you as you navigate the unique challenges of this exciting—but often overwhelming—time in your life. College is a period of transition, growth, and self-discovery. Along the way, you might face stress, anxiety, relationship issues, academic pressures, or just feel lost at times. Whether you’re adjusting to a new environment, managing the demands of your studies, or struggling with personal challenges, therapy can offer a safe space for you to talk through your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. How I Can Help: • Stress and Anxiety Management: We’ll work on practical strategies to manage academic pressure, social anxiety, and life stressors. • Building Confidence and Self-Esteem: Together, we can explore ways to boost your self-confidence and develop a stronger sense of self. • Managing Relationships: Whether it’s friendships, romantic relationships, or family dynamics, we can discuss how to navigate and improve your connections with others. • Self-Discovery: College is often a time of figuring out who you are and what you want. Therapy can help you explore your identity, values, and goals. Therapy isn’t just for people in crisis—it’s for anyone who wants to understand themselves better and live a more balanced, fulfilling life. No matter what you’re dealing with, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to listen and support you every step of the way. Feel free to reach out and set up a session. I look forward to getting to know you and working together!

When you're struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or depression, the idea of opening up and trusting another person can be HARD. I know that you've likely heard so many messages throughout your life about what you should do and who you should be, but I don't think that "shoulds" have a place in therapy. Who do you WANT to be? How do you WANT to feel? That is way more important than any shoulds, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you start to find answers to these questions over time. Together, we can unravel those expectations - what you've been told it means to be healthy or successful or fill in the blank - and get to the heart of what really matters to you and what you need. Being a human is messy, and as your therapist, I'll be right there in that space with you as a human first, therapist second. Let's explore what it means to be humans in a world that expects perfection (which doesn't exist!) and pushes you to grind until you're too burned out to do the things you actually want to do. Whether you realize it today or not, you deserve peace. I have many tools in my toolbox to support you, but to me the most important thing I can do is to provide you a safe space to explore your experience in its entirety at your own pace - to build a connection that is strong enough for you to know that I won't judge you or make you bad or wrong for how you are feeling or for using certain behaviors to cope. It's what you've known to do up to this point, so let's put our heads together and find the ways that this has made sense so we can look at it from a place of compassion instead of judgment. This is a shame-free space! I hold a special place in my heart for those who are working towards eating disorder recovery who feel like they aren't sick enough because their body size, race, sexuality, or gender identity don't match what they are seeing on social media under the eating disorder hashtags. All identities are welcome here, and no matter what your circumstances, your concerns are valid, you ARE sick enough, and you deserve compassionate, equitable care. If anything I've said here makes you think "I like her vibe," please don't hesitate to reach out. I would love to chat further about what it would look like for us to work together.

Bright View Counseling was founded in 2020 by Michael Clark-Borenstein LCMHC (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor) with the mission of bringing a better counseling experience to the people of Charlotte, North Carolina. After struggling through the challenges we all faced in 2020 and continue to face in 2021 due to the global pandemic, therapy and counseling have become something we could all benefit from having more of. If you or your child have been struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, work or life-related stress, behavioral changes, or simply struggling to adjust to the big changes we all faced this past year, you are not alone. We’re breaking the traditional mold of talk therapy and counseling and bringing a new, brighter idea of what therapy could and should look like with our ‘Therapy With A Twist!’ approach. Our therapy approach is holistic, humanistic, and person-focused. We bring the power of the natural world into the therapeutic process. We take walks outside, participate in outdoor activities with clients, and integrate activities and games. We also get a helping paw from our office dog, Charlotte, who comes into sessions to provide a furry friend to hug, pet, and receive emotional support from. We’ve adopted all of these practices to continue to work with teletherapy as well. We take virtual walks, have outdoor virtual sessions, and have even participated in virtual fishing! Our outlook on the client-therapist relationship differs from other counseling services. At Bright View Counseling, we forge a trusting relationship with clients. Therapy can be an intimidating process for new clients. We strive to create a casual, comfortable environment where our clients can feel safe and free to express themselves honestly and openly without fear of judgment.

Hi, I’m Rithy (pronounced as ‘Rit-Tea’). As an openly proud gay man and a first- generation Asian American (Cambodian & Hmong), I deeply recognize how mental health is woven into our identity, culture, and sense of belonging. My own journey has shown me how identity can sometimes act as a barrier to accessing therapy, whether due to stigma, cultural expectations, or a lack of representation in the field. My passion for mental wellness is rooted in the belief that people are the experts in themselves, and therapy should honor their wisdom, strengths, and lived experiences. With over six years of experience in health and human services, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community, Autistic and otherwise neurodivergent individuals, and people from diverse socioeconomic, educational, and intersectional identities. I help clients navigate stress, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Above all, I’m committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and affirming space where people can show up fully as themselves. My intention is to meet you where you are in your mental wellness journey and build on your strengths. Together, we will create meaningful change at a pace and capacity that feels right for you. I believe healing happens in a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and valued. With that in mind, I take a holistic, person-centered approach, promoting an affirming and supportive atmosphere-especially for those exploring LGBTOIA+ identity, relationships, anxiety, and life transitions. I tailor therapy sessions to your unique needs, using modalities like Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, and Psychoeducation. I also use the Gottman Method to help couples strengthen their connection, improve communication, and navigate conflict with compassion. My approach is affirming and tailored to honor the unique dynamics and identities within each relationship

I also have several years of experience in Hospice and medical social work. Throughout the last 10 years, I have worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, and life changes. I offer a non-judgmental approach to therapy and understand that each individual has their own story and own set of circumstances. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, which can be helpful in changing thinking patterns and offer a new perspective. I am glad that you are looking for a safe place to talk about what you are going through--you have taken a positive first step! Therapy can be a great opportunity for self-discovery and growth and I would be happy to guide you in whatever way I can. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Sims Counseling & Consulting is a sanctuary for holistic and integrative mental health. At Sims, we go beyond conventional psychotherapy, weaving mindfulness, art, meditation, yoga, movement, and somatic experiencing into the fabric of our services. Here, we believe in nurturing the complete being – mind, body, and soul. Every now and then life has a way of hitting us hard. We believe that when individuals enter counseling they are feeling gridlocked in their current situation and need assistance navigating their way out of the storms. We see counseling as a process by which I guide my client in exploration and identification of their needs. Through cognitive and somatic techniques we help raise clients' awareness of ineffective behaviors, toxic cycles, and distorted thinking patterns that may be standing in the way of the changes they desire in life. We believe that transformation begins when we slow down, tune into our bodies, and honor what comes up. We have experience supporting emerging adults and college students, let's get started!

Truth is I am tired! These are words that I have uttered multiple times during my life journey and I am sure you have as well. As a black boy growing up in the rural south, I know how hard it can be to find space to talk about the hard things. Most of the times we are taught to not have feelings and explore the individual, familial, and societal stressors that constantly impact our ability to honor ourselves. You might be looking for someone to bear witness to the pain and the hardships in your life to feel safe enough to get out of your head and into your body. As a therapist, I understand that healing is a journey and does not happen overnight. Progress is never linear, and my goal is to create space for the good, bad, and the ugly. You will be treated like a human and given the right to access all the parts of you that make you who you are without judgement. I am passionate about providing spaces where you can move from a place of survival to thriving while caring for the whole person. At the end of the day I want you to walk away feeling empowered and confident and today could be the right time to begin.

Welcome! We help people help themselves to live a more full and whole life, void of medicating and suffering in isolation. We meet our clients where they are and invite them to learn and create what recovery means to them. We do this be holding up a mirror and walking with our clients rather than telling them what they should do. We also help clients connect. Isolation is such a painful symptom of anxiety, depression and medicating. 'Together we can do what we could never do alone' is what we practice at the Relationship Enrichment Center. Reach out, and let us support you.
