I am a clinical psychologist, and my background is in helping people through anxiety, depression, and trauma-related issues. I love to assist my clients in exploring their strengths and values, so that we can collaboratively find ways for them to get unstuck and to live satisfying, meaningful lives. I think that connection and belongingness are vital to our work together, and strive always to meet people where they are with compassion. Taking this person-centered approach, I use my training and experience in proven therapies to help my clients find new approaches to the pain they face. I meet each client with respectful curiosity, and a desire to create the trust that is necessary to healing. The central focus of my practice is to provide a safe place for my clients to heal from painful experiences, using evidence-based psychotherapies. I primarily use a cognitive-behavioral approach, helping my clients to recognize the connections among their thoughts, emotions, and actions, to find a new path forward. If you are looking for ways to recover and grow in the face of painful challenges, I offer a nonjudgmental, accepting place to do this life-changing work. Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me! I have over 15 years of experience working in the mental health field in various settings--including inpatient, outpatient, inner-city clinics, schools, and private practice. I specialize in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders and ADHD. My passion for the field stems from my personal experience with it--overcoming a debilitating anxiety/panic disorder and accompanying depression. It was the scariest, most difficult time of my life. However, I made a promise to myself that if one day I could overcome my debilitating anxiety, then I would help others to do the same. I approach every client uniquely and use an eclectic, person-centered, integrative, evidence-based model as well as the ACT model. We will set overall goals that will not only help you with what you are struggling with mentally but also aid you in reaching better health all-around. When ready, I will challenge you and help set weekly goals to work towards. Aside from the omnipresent stigma, the process of getting help can be overwhelming and exhausting, leaving one feeling frustrated and lonely. However, I also know how life-changing it can be to find the right help. You only get this one life and I am here to help you live it in your most authentic, fully expressed, ideal way. I look forward to connecting!

Sometimes you feel out of place, like you can't connect to other people. Your life might appear "normal" but you can't seem to enjoy it. You may feel alone, like nobody else understands, and might wish you could be more present for your kids/work/partner/family. While you have experienced trauma, pain, loss, hardship, or addiction, you are ready to take hold of your future. If you are looking to break free of a painful past that has you chained in your present, you have found the right place. Thrive clients are women who have struggled, felt alone, and are exhausted. They are people who want support in moving forward. I am genuine, honest, upfront and interactive, and emphasize the importance of our connection for your healing. I treat trauma through the lens of mind/body connection. I primarily use EMDR, which bridges the trauma stored in your body/mind/spirit to allow healing, CBT, which helps you identify and replace unhealthy thoughts, and DBT to teach coping skills. My goal is to help you find the freedom to be yourself. Oftentimes, people and circumstances we experience can change the way we perceive ourselves and our life. We can feel like we’ve lost our place in the world or lost a sense of who we are or want to be. My goal is to help you to overcome those obstacles through mindset work, problem solving, and boundary setting. You are unique and deserve to be able to express your individuality and live the best life possible.

You are sitting in therapy watching your therapist's lips move while she tells you for the fourth time that her cousin is gay and just got a “very butch” haircut. You can’t help thinking, “She just doesn’t get it.” He misgenders you, or forgets your partner’s pronouns, she pulls out Food and Mood, and he talks about how apple cider vinegar might be the solution to all your problems. She hasn't lived in a fat body. He hasn’t experienced homophobia or heterosexism from the inside. What initially seemed like a small hill to climb in your relationship has started to feel like a mountain. Maybe she tells you your black top is so slimming. Maybe once he referred to queer people as ‘homosexuals.’ Maybe, when you report your experiences of oppression, she tells you that the other party probably meant well and just wanted you to be healthier or have it easier in the world. You don’t trust him with your whole self, how can you? You’ve tried so many therapists in the past and she’s not that bad, is she? You continue to hope that therapy with a therapist who doesn’t quite get it will be enough to meet your needs. It’s not enough. You deserve a therapist who understands your lived experiences. You deserve a therapist who knows what it’s like to have your doctor prescribe weight loss to treat arthritis in your wrists, and who can truly hear it when you tell them about your experience with your homophobic aunt at Thanksgiving. You deserve a therapist who approaches the world with a solid intersectional anti-oppression framework that sees society, rather than some flaw in you, as the central piece of your problem. I can be that therapist. I’m fat, I’m queer, I have an intersectional lens, and I want to dismantle systems of oppression one client session at a time.

I specialize in ADHD and Autism, as well as enjoy helping people navigate issues related to anxiety and depression. I believe that Resilience is a skill we can learn, and it is what is going to help us make it through whatever challenges life may throw our way. In my previous career I was a medic in the US Army, so if your experiences involve the military, emergency medicine, or moving around a lot, I get it. I have 7 kids and went to college at 40, so if you are a non traditional student, I get it. Lets talk about it!

You want to feel confident, but down inside you are struggling to calm insecurities and anxieties. You may be fed up with the constant overthinking, feeling like you are lost in life, or those anxious thoughts that come at night. You might even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to understand why this is happening. You are ready to feel at ease and satisfied with your life. Most of all, you’re ready to feel confident about the choices you are making. You want to feel confident, but down inside you are struggling to calm insecurities and self-talk. You may be fed up with the constant overthinking, feeling like you are not good enough or that you just can’t let things go. You might even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to understand why this is happening. You are ready to feel at ease and satisfied with your life. Most of all, you’re ready to feel confident and happy with yourself. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who can understand what they are going through, but also challenge them. Because therapy should be a place where you feel like you can be your true self, and learn skills to make improvements. Sessions with me are client centered. Together, we learn skills and improve self-esteem. And we always go at your pace. As an experienced therapist for college students, I believe that we are under an unbelievable amount of pressure. And yet we can still create the lives we envisioned for ourselves. You don’t have to continue feeling unsatisfied with yourself or your current situation, and you don’t have to do it alone. Check out my website to get started.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck in your thoughts, or just not like yourself lately? You’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out alone, either. I work with students who are navigating stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and life transitions that can feel confusing or heavy. Many of the people I work with are used to putting others first, staying busy, or “holding it together” even when they’re struggling inside. If that sounds familiar, this may be a good place to start. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I offer a space that’s judgment-free, supportive, and focused on what you need. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on and create a personalized plan that may include therapy, medication support, or both—always at a pace that feels right for you. I currently see clients through secure, easy-to-use telehealth, so you can access care from wherever you feel most comfortable. If you’re ready to feel better, I’d love to help you get started.
