I believe in a collaborative approach to therapy and value my client's life experiences and the knowledge that they bring into the therapeutic relationship. I tend to work interpersonally and view the therapeutic relationship as a tool for gaining insight into personal struggles, as well as a venue to practice new behaviors and boundaries. I enjoy working with clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and while I am trained as a generalist, I have particular interests in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, body image, gender identity and socialization. My experiences in a variety of settings including college counseling centers, Veteran's Affairs, inpatient addiction rehabilitation center, consultation center, domestic violence advocacy organization, and adolescent homeless shelter are a particular strength of my clinical work and allow me to uniquely provide real-world application for my clients concerns.

We can manage your prescription and medications. Our Care Philosophy: I believe the best care comes from building a strong partnership with my patients. I take time to listen closely to each person’s story, value their input, and work with them to create a treatment plan that fits their goals and lifestyle. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and focused on empowering patients to take an active role in their mental health. I explain treatment options clearly, answer questions in plain language, and encourage open communication so patients feel comfortable and informed every step of the way. I also believe in meeting patients where they are—whether that means adjusting care to match their pace or providing extra education and resources to help them feel confident. Above all, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care in a safe and respectful environment where patients feel heard, understood, and supported on their journey toward healing and wellness.
When therapy becomes a reality A situation arises in one’s life that alters our once innocent perspective of our surroundings. Answers are searched through the experience of others when ultimately the truth lies within our own experiences. These two phrases tend to resonate with individuals who experience trauma, anxiety, depression, overall dysregulation within their environment. Each person’s experience is unique as well as the journey to repairing the damage left behind. I believe therapy can be used to create a personable, yet the potentially uncomfortable path to reality and self-truth. Without exposing or facing the wounds, the trauma response can remain to stagnate or continue to spread internally and externally. I am looking forward to connecting with college-aged individuals who are beginning or continuing their therapy journey. I am pulled toward practicing therapy in this transitional phase of life because I know that young adulthood is filled with many questions about identity, friendship, self-esteem, relationships, classes, and careers. Awareness of individuality and childhood norms grows during his developmental phase, which can lead to experiencing many mental health symptoms. I believe in empowering each person to grow into the truest form of themselves and live life to the fullest. I utilize a trauma informed approach in my practice and tend to use modalities such as CBT, mindfulness, meditation, emotion-based therapy, EMDR, and IFS. I currently work at Allow Therapy Partners in the Rockford Office. I love to do in person appointments and I am also available for virtual sessions. Please reach out! I am happily accepting new clients at this time.

Living a “life worth living” can seem like a path only others get to travel, while our journey feels unfair, exceedingly difficult, or at times impossible. At times we discover that our struggles are the result of the choices we made, or the choices others have made that affect us. At other times, we unknowingly hold onto faulty beliefs about ourselves or others, living as if they are true or accurate. To cope, we develop strategies to make the journey seem more doable. They can indeed be helpful and carry us toward our goals, or be the very obstacle that prevents us from achieving our potential. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Diplomate with the NASW in Clinical Social Work. I have worked with children, teens, young adults, and adults, as a practitioner of DBT,and CBT, supportive therapies, and multiple trauma modalities such as Prolonged Exposure, Traumatic Incident Reduction, TF-CBT, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. If you find that this description of “living” resonates for you, therapy may provide the hurdle help you need to claim or reclaim your agency. Goodness of fit is a crucial variable in therapy. There are many therapists in our community who may be that link for you. If after reading my profile, we may seem like a good fit, give me a call.

As a therapist, some of my specialty areas include anxiety, depression, grief work, self esteem, stress management, life transitions, and identity exploration. In my work, I help people better connect with their thoughts and bodies, discover and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and move towards greater understanding and acceptance. One of my favorite quotes is " Life ain't always beautiful, but it's a beautiful ride." I have often found that life can throw you a curveball when you least expect it, and it is often hard to navigate those challenges on your own. Have you ever found yourself feelings anxious, overwhelmed, or depressed about things going on in your life? What if you could have an unbiased, safe space to openly express those thoughts or feelings without needing to censor yourself or fear judgement. That is what I do, provide a safe space where you can feel empowered to openly express yourself and work towards achieving your goals. I have been a social worker for 26 years, helping individuals navigate on-going struggles in their lives such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, end of life, and grief. I utilize talk therapy and humor to assist my clients in working through their thoughts/fears and help them learn new approaches for coping with life's challenges.

Hi and welcome! I'm so glad you are here. I approach therapy like a conversation: collaborative, with warmth, humor and honesty. I use an integrative approach that is unique to you and your needs. Together, we’ll identify the strengths already within you, explore how you relate to yourself and others, and gently challenge what no longer works for you anymore. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent a decade working in international and US-based nonprofits, living abroad for a number of those years and engaging with people and cultures from all over the world. I also have worked within higher education in residential life and student life roles. All of these experiences were their own sort of education, helping me learn how to navigate the changes, surprises, and complexities of life. It would be my honor to sit with you as you navigate your own story.
Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
