I will be seeing clients in person in Pittsburgh starting in August 2023. I can see clients in Massachusetts via telehealth but I am not accepting any telehealth clients at this time.

Sometimes it feels like the world is crashing down around you, or it may feel like life has been chaotic for so long you can't imagine it any other way. Sometimes you might not be able to stop thinking about it, other times you'll do anything to avoid thinking about it. It's been a heavy burden to carry, even if others are trying to help. Many circumstances make us feel disconnected from ourselves and others; It might be a major life change, a loss, chronic anxiety, a traumatic event or abusive relationship. Whatever the reason you are seeking treatment, I am here to be your teammate in the healing process. I am open to working with anyone experiencing stress, grief or trauma. If you are looking for someone with niche experience relevant to your situation, I have specialized experience supporting survivors of domestic violence and community violence, suicide and homicide bereavement, individuals with adoption and foster care histories, individuals impacted by a loved ones' substance use, intergenerational trauma, and burnout/compassion fatigue. Whatever the circumstance, I am here to be your teammate in the healing process. I incorporate cultural humility into my practice, including providing LGBTQ and neurodivergent affirming care. In my practice, I value transparency in the therapeutic relationship and aim to create a space where clients can show up as their authentic selves. My approach is holistic, strengths-based and person-centered. I use a combination of attachment-based, narrative and cognitive behavioral approaches to tailor services to the person sitting in front of me. Finding the right therapist is often a frustrating process. If you are looking for an active partner in your healing journey, who values transparency and authenticity in the therapeutic relationship, then I might be a good fit! Reach out for a free 15 minute consultation to discuss goodness of fit and get answers to any questions you have!
My Approach & Values Hope and the belief that it’s possible to recover are the foundation of the work I do. You deserve and can expect a full recovery. Keep in mind that medications are not the only modality available to treat mental illness. Many don’t experience full remission of symptoms with the available psychopharmacological treatment alone. However, there is empirical data that shows the efficacy of augmenting medication with psychotherapy and lifestyle changes. Simple changes aid individuals in regaining a meaningful life, even when recovery stalls. The goal is to gain control of your life back with emphasis on managing symptoms and building resilience. Some thoughts to keep in mind include the questions listed below. - How can we move forward? - What new goals could be set? - How can we get your new life back on track? - Can we work together to develop your support system? - What skills can you learn to cope with periods of crisis?

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) dedicated to providing ethical, evidence-based mental health care. My professional approach is rooted in a holistic, patient-centered model that respects your individual needs, experiences, and cultural background. I believe every patient is different, which is why I curate individualized care plans that may include psychotherapy, medication management, lifestyle adjustments, or a combination of these approaches. My goal is to promote healing, recovery, and overall well-being while building a trusting therapeutic relationship. I hold a Master of Science in Nursing from St. Thomas University and bring extensive knowledge and expertise in diagnosing, treating, and evaluating a wide range of mental health conditions. By combining clinical knowledge, patient advocacy, and the adaptability of telemedicine, I ensure that my practice continually evolves with the most up-to-date psychiatric nursing standards. The process begins with an initial consultation where we review your history, current symptoms, and overall wellness. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan together, adjusting as needed through ongoing communication. I invite you to book your appointment today so we can begin working toward lasting progress and meaningful change.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and also a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (LADC I). I have a Masters of Education in mental health, addictions, and marriage and family therapy. I have worked with families, adolescents and adults for over the last 13 years in outpatient, in-home therapy settings, detox/inpatient rehab and hospital settings. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems Therapy.
I view therapy not only as a means of reducing emotional distress but also as an approach to personal growth. However, I believe that therapy should not be a way of life and I therefore support clients in developing concrete skills, with emphasis on working with emotions: promoting a better understanding of emotions and emotion regulation. I view therapy as a collaborative process of exploration. I bring to this process an attitude of compassionate curiosity and non-judgment. I also draw on my own bi-cultural experience - I was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic. I practice emotion-focused therapy, which emphasizes the positive, adaptive roles of emotions. Sometimes, however, due to stress, trauma or adverse life events, emotions can become a source of distress. Through empathic, collaborative exploration I help my clients identify their authentic emotional needs and develop strategies for managing and regulating distressing emotions. If you are located in Western Mass (Pioneer Valley) I also offer walking therapy and animal assisted therapy. Therapy is my 2nd career. My PhD is in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) and my therapeutic work is informed by 25+ years of research in AI and cognitive & affective science. I am thus very familiar with academic environments and draw on this knowledge when working with students, both undergraduate and graduate.
If you are seeking for a practical future-oriented strength-based approach, in a empowering and grounded environment, I may be your person. My approach is supportive, holistic and, above all, pragmatic. Let me guide you toward growth at a pace that feels right. Whether is anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or you seeking to overcome a stressful life event , I will meet you where you are. I will actively listen to you and collaboratively build a path towards identifying potential solutions and resources.
