We are a team of clinical social workers specializing in yoga/mindfulness, EMDR, and CBT. Our understanding is that in order to truly heal, we must honor our whole-body and mind working together. Many of our clients find that much of their suffering is stored throughout their bodies as anxiety, depression, and stress begin to take over. We support students as they navigate the unfamiliar and sometime daunting transition into adulthood and offer a warm, hopeful guide towards joy and purpose. Our virtual counseling services are available to individuals located in Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Vermont, Maine, Illinois, and California. I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies. I have over 18 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families. My experience has shown that change is typically hard work and often requires compassionate and collaborative support in order to build new skills. I see clients in both Oregon and Massachusetts and I offer a 30 minute free video or phone consultation to see if I am the right fit for you.

Therapy provides a safe environment to work on the issues and situations that might be hindering your ability to function as you want to. Every client is different, and my goal is to help you feel more able to identify your specific challenges and develop the skills and strategies to manage them. I rely on a strengths perspective and draw predominately from CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic modalities. I help clients with anxiety, depression, problems related to sexual and gender identity, relationship conflicts, illness, grief, and stage of life issues. I am strongly aligned with the LGBTQIA+ community and enjoy working with individuals and couples from all walks of life.
Going to therapy implies the courage to question ourselves and face the challenges that get in the way of self-acceptance. I believe therapy can be a transformative encounter that allows a different experience of ourselves. As a Colombian immigrant and a native Spanish and English speaker, I offer a culturally sensitive approach to therapy, attentive to the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and class. My background and current role as a clinician at Harvard University Counseling and Mental Health Services have given me the privilege of working with patients from all over the world. I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis and strive to create a safe, confidential space for self-expression. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, and life transitions, with particular experience supporting graduate students and young professionals. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation so we can explore how I can best support you.
I see College and Graduate students at all year levels. I work with individuals and couples ( married and unmarried, who are dissatisfied with or want to improve their partnerships). Even the best parts of your academic career -- having more control over your own life, living with new people, getting to know a new city, forming new relationships, coming out to yourself or others, learning and pursuing what interests and inspires you -- can create stress. Relating to your family may be complicated, particularly if there have been difficulties at home. Loss, divorce, illness, abuse or substance abuse may factor into your story. You may be the first person in your family to go to college or beyond. You may have a chronic medical condition, visible or invisible to others. Figuring out who you want to be and what you have to work with may be unnecessarily burdensome to do all by yourself. When you hit a bump in the road, psychotherapy can help you problem solve, understand yourself better and come up with new strategies to move forward. Getting to know yourself better can be an important part of your education. Getting a handle on anxiety and/or depression can be crucial to making life work for you. Individual or couple psychotherapy can sychotherapy, free up energy to pursue life goals and improve relationships. I have worked with college and graduate students, as individuals and in couples, for over 25 years both in a University Counseling Center and in my private practice. I also have trained other professionals to work with students Please see my website or Psychology today profile for more information about my practice with couples and individual adults. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/roberta-caplan-waltham-ma/113684 I offer a free telephone screening to see if working with me might meet your current needs. I accept BC/BS PPO plans (not HMO) and can provide documentation you would need for out-of-network benefits for other plans.

Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck, unhappy, or confused. We may be aware of a sense of unease, as if something is not quite right. Therapy can provide clarity and tools to help you navigate difficult emotions. It’s important to know that we can learn to think and feel differently. I provide a safe space where clients feel seen, heard, and truly validated. I believe in the gentle balance of being both compassionate and direct to help facilitate growth and healing. Through encouragement, compassion and insight, my goal is to help you develop a deeper sense of joy and greater agency over your life. Hi, I’m Naomi, a licensed mental health clinician providing virtual therapy for college students across Massachusetts. College can be an exciting time, but it can also bring pressure, uncertainty, and challenges that are difficult to manage alone. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, disconnected, or simply not like yourself, therapy can offer a space to pause, feel understood, and find your footing again. I provide a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where you can talk openly about what you’re experiencing while developing practical tools for navigating college and everyday life. I work with students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, self-esteem concerns, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. My approach is collaborative and individualized, drawing from CBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, and expressive approaches. Together, we’ll work toward greater self-awareness, emotional balance, confidence, and coping skills that feel realistic for you. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just have to be willing to take the first step.
