My fundamental belief is that people have the strength within them to make the changes they desire, if only they could access it. I work with each person in a tailored and individualized way, to capitalize on their strengths and harness their hidden resilience. I have spent my career working with people across the lifespan coping with various life stressors, achieving balance with competing demands, and specific mental health conditions including anxiety. The best way to get to the destination is to start the journey. For more details, please go to: www.weksnerpsychotherapy.com
Clients come to me when they feel overwhelmed in life. The challenge is that the college experience can exacerbate these issues. It can be hard to navigate not only the academic expectations, but also the issues in our relationships. College is a unique and fleeting experience. I would be happy to support you in managing stressors to make this a positive experience. Our work together is based on radical kindness, cultural understanding, and empathy.
College life presents its own unique opportunities for self-growth. You may be bringing unresolved childhood issues with you to college, struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, fear, or stress impacting daily life. Counseling together may assist in leading a healthier and happier life. I work best with individuals that are curious for self exploration. I offer a non-judgemental and safe place for students to explore. I utilize EMDR, CBT, Solution-Focused, and strengths based approaches to therapy. The first step is to see if we are a good fit together.
Life is full of challenges and difficult moments. I believe that as human beings, we are wired to deal with our pain in ways that leave us feeling lost, exhausted, and hopeless. We may lose sight of our purpose, our values, our loved ones, and the many other aspects of life that make us whole and content. With humility and compassion, I aim to support you in dropping the struggle and finding new ways to achieve the well-being you deserve. You don’t have to figure it out alone, and I'm sure we'll share some laughs along the way. I utilize a psychodynamic lens which focuses on the unconscious forces that often drive our emotions and actions; including underlying desires and anxieties that are present deep within the mind yet influence personality and behavior. In addition, I will integrate CBT and DBT with the goal of reducing unwanted behaviors. If we work on ourselves and learn to care for ourselves, we can then be present and capable of helping those around us. I’d love to hear from you. I am best reached over e-mail or through my website.

I enjoy working with students who need support in adjusting to all the changes that school inherently comes with leaving home, performance anxiety, finding your people, dating, friends, study habits, getting ready to graduate and finding your next move etc. And through all of this, sometimes there is anxiety, depression, or trauma that makes all of the adjustments more difficult. Therapy can help you sort through all of that so that you have a clear mind and feel more at ease in life. Hi and welcome! Do you wish life would slow down so you can take a breath? Stuff has been piling up and now your relationships are strained, your social life isn't what you want, and you don’t even really know who you are. Clients come to me looking to connect with a fellow human whose been there because therapy is a place where you feel genuinely seen & valued. Together we'll collaborate to achieve what you envision for your life and create lasting change. I help my client make sense of the confusing and messy parts of life. Areas of specific focus are: anxiety, self esteem, sex, relationships, life changes, identity exploration and development, sibling relationships, and more providing neurodivergent and queer affirming care. Many of my clients have had troubles connecting with other therapists or are hesitant to start the process. I get it! Vulnerability is scary as hell and the idea of therapy can be intimidating. I hold such gratitude to offer a space that feels safe & open to allow those I work with to freely explore themselves. I deeply value the relationship between a person & their therapist and prioritize nurturing this connection to make our work together the most meaningful for you. My role is to listen, offer perspective, and provide supportive challenge & guidance to empower you in supporting yourself as you continue to move through life. I tell my clients: at the end of the day, I’m here to work myself out of a job. Therapy with me integrates talking, exercises, and – brace yourself – sometimes homework between sessions to practice what we’re working on. Together, we will cultivate healthy habits, gain tools to navigate life's changes, identify unhelpful patterns, & discover or reconnect with your truest self. I believe we all have the capacity to heal and grow. Warm, intentional support during that journey can make all the difference. Through my own experiences, I know how powerful human connection can be in achieving change. I also know the therapist you trust for help is an important choice. My goal is to foster a space where all parts of you feel truly understood & aligned. So, I take my time to listen and learn about YOU – your circumstances, inclinations, past experiences, and desires to tailor my approach in ways that best serve you and your goals. I uplift and affirm BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Kink communities, and all forms of identity expression, lifestyles, and relationships.
I am a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate their challenges. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Worcester State University, where I also minored in Sociology and focused on mental health and women's studies. Following that, I earned a Master's in Forensic and Investigative Psychology from the University of Liverpool. From the very beginning of my career, I discovered my passion for working with families and children. I believe in creating warm and supportive environments where everyone feels safe and valued. This dedication inspired me to pursue a Master's in Social Work from Anna Maria College, allowing me to better serve the community that is close to my heart. I have had the privilege to work across various settings, including residential care, intensive in-home support, schools, and outpatient services, which has enriched my understanding of the diverse needs of families and children. In my sessions, I strive to foster a nurturing and compassionate space where clients can feel understood and empowered to pursue their goals. I use a strength-based approach, offering encouragement and support to help clients along their journey. I believe it is essential for clients to be at the heart of the treatment process, actively participating in setting their own goals. This ensures that their voices are not only heard but truly valued in every session. Together, we can embark on a transformative journey towards healing and personal growth. Clients can expect that they will be heard and respected in sessions, and that their goals and dreams are a priority. Through this process, they will be validated and supported in helping them reach their full potential.

Searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, I'd like to be there for your second. I have a deep affinity for those affected by trauma, including sexual assault and combat, as well as extensive experience and desire to work with those with perinatal issues (such as post-partum depression), issues of gender and racial justice, childhood and teenage transitions, depression, and chronic illness. My therapeutic approach focuses on creating an empathic environment where you feel safe and relaxed, and where we can use every tool available to brighten your present and empower your future. This may involve playing a game or taking a walk as often as we spend time in the office.
Are you feeling exhausted, or finding yourself more stressed and in need of support? Perhaps you are simply looking to enhance your wellness or strengthen boundaries. Many people are finding that the stress of every day life can overwhelm their capacity to cope. Are you hoping to learn new ways to cope with stress, trauma, family conflict, anxiety, or depression which are trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive? I work with young adults and my approach is eclectic, using strong social justice and trauma lenses. My most highly prioritized goal is to empower you to break free from ineffective patterns and heal, so that you can thrive and feel successful! Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but if you are reading this, that means that you have already taken that initial step (which can be the hardest part). Well done! If you are looking for warm, non-judgmental, and accepting support, I am just one free call away. Together, we can collaborate to transform your concerns into action and compassion!
What could you navigate in a safe space? I will use a warm, compassionate approach as we explore what you might be seeking. Perhaps you long for fulfillment or a clarified sense of purpose. I believe sorting out your thoughts and feelings together can yield a more enjoyable life. My background is concentrated in medicine and mental health, with a particular attention to the mind-body connection. I tend to work with a lot of college students and enjoy assisting clients with life transitions and identity exploration. You are sitting in therapy watching your therapist's lips move while she tells you for the fourth time that her cousin is gay and just got a “very butch” haircut. You can’t help thinking, “She just doesn’t get it.” He misgenders you, or forgets your partner’s pronouns, she pulls out Food and Mood, and he talks about how apple cider vinegar might be the solution to all your problems. She hasn't lived in a fat body. He hasn’t experienced homophobia or heterosexism from the inside. What initially seemed like a small hill to climb in your relationship has started to feel like a mountain. Maybe she tells you your black top is so slimming. Maybe once he referred to queer people as ‘homosexuals.’ Maybe, when you report your experiences of oppression, she tells you that the other party probably meant well and just wanted you to be healthier or have it easier in the world. You don’t trust him with your whole self, how can you? You’ve tried so many therapists in the past and she’s not that bad, is she? You continue to hope that therapy with a therapist who doesn’t quite get it will be enough to meet your needs. It’s not enough. You deserve a therapist who understands your lived experiences. You deserve a therapist who knows what it’s like to have your doctor prescribe weight loss to treat arthritis in your wrists, and who can truly hear it when you tell them about your experience with your homophobic aunt at Thanksgiving. You deserve a therapist who approaches the world with a solid intersectional anti-oppression framework that sees society, rather than some flaw in you, as the central piece of your problem. I can be that therapist. I’m fat, I’m queer, I have an intersectional lens, and I want to dismantle systems of oppression one client session at a time.
