You feel trapped in thinking again and again about the same issue? You find yourself repeating same behavioral patterns? You live in self-judgment, guilt, sadness, and lack of good sleep? Does this all make you feel as you are not good enough and you should please others to be liked? And then the perceived failure as a partner, parent or a friend? Collaboratively, we can create a safe space to help you feel your feelings; increase your awareness; understand relationship patterns; and develop strategies to cope at home, work and in society. I provide individual therapy for people experiencing communication issues, anxiety, grief, school burnout, self esteem, peer relationships and women's issues. Specifically, I am interested in mindfulness, self-compassion, psychodynamic therapy, expressive arts therapy, hypnosis, cognitive-behavioral modalities (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy.
I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating a variety of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism and OCD. Supporting young people and their families has always been at the heart of my work. I am committed to providing compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive mental health care. Having grown up and trained in Boston, I am proud to serve the community that is my home. Creating a space where you feel heard, safe, and supported is critical to my practice. Whether we are navigating a new diagnosis, exploring medication options or working to better understand your thoughts and behavioral patterns, we will work together to find an approach that works for you. Education is the backbone of my practice so you feel informed and empowered to make the best decision for you or your child. My goal is to provide you with tools to build insight and coping skills to better support yourself in your mental health journey.
School can be a stressful time. In addition to managing any mental health issues you might be experiencing, you also feel pressure to do well academically, or have anxiety about your career, or be unhappy with friendships on campus and feeling alone, or having difficulty adjusting to the increased demands on their time or to the new environment. I work with students who are struggling in these areas, and have extensive experience working specifically with college and graduate school students, so I understand both the unique challenges and common stressors you're facing. In addition, I have specific expertise in helping young adults navigate dating and romantic relationships in the college setting. In fact, my doctoral project focused on understanding how young adults experience hookup culture. My goal is to help clients reduce anxiety, manage depression and bipolar disorders, resolve relationship issues, navigate difficult life transitions, and maintain healthy habits and lifestyles. Many people feel overwhelmed and lost, unhappy in their situation but unable to make positive change or find satisfaction in life. They rely on old habits to feel better such as avoidance by overworking or isolating, escaping through technology or substances, or being self-critical in hopes this will force themselves to change. In individual therapy I help my clients understand how their past has shaped their present, identify immediate and future goals, learn healthy ways to cope and grow, and find meaning in their lives. I also have a specific interest in helping people understand patterns in their relationships and improving their connections with others.

Dr. Apraku is welcoming new patients for video appointments. As a Board-certified M.D. psychiatrist, she specializes in providing psychiatric diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations for anxiety, depression, OCD and bipolar disorder. Dr. Apraku also gives guidance for mental health concerns related to life transitions, mood swings, anger and traumatic events. As a holistic provider, her focus is on medication management (including for patients wishing to decrease reliance on medication) in combination with extensive psycho-education and referral to a trusted therapist where appropriate. Welcome! I am a dual Board Certified Nurse Practitioner (psychiatry mental health and Family medicine) I began my career as a Cardiac Intensive Care nurse at a major teaching hospital in New York City. I have 35+ years of experience in nursing and a wealth of experience in almost all areas of mental health. I manage and treat a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and bipolar illness. Whether you are interested in finding a medication prescriber who can continue a treatment regimen that is already working well or seeking psychiatric services for the first time, I am excited to work with you to achieve your goals. Many people struggle alone for months or years with symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or other mental health problems. Reaching out for help is a crucial, courageous first step to improving mental wellness. In my practice, I prescribe medications to treat your symptoms when appropriate and safe. Although, I never solely rely on psychiatric medications as a complete fix. I utilize other treatment modalities as well (nutrition modification, sleep hygiene, and physical fitness). The Mind-Body connection is at the core of my treatment plan. I draw from my extensive background in internal medicine and years of psychiatric experience to inform my treatment decisions. We can work together to improve your quality of life. Please email me if you are interested in scheduling an intake appointment.
* I am offering online therapy sessions for MA & OR residents on a HIPAA-compliant platform. Hello, my name is Cynthia (she/her). I am a licensed clinical psychologist in MA & OR. Prior to becoming a psychologist, I served as a public interest attorney in MI and OR. As a psychologist, I continue to work from an anti-oppressive framework, approaching therapy as a collaboration. I specialize in longer-term psychotherapy to enable deeper understanding of the meaning behind manifest symptoms by exploring one’s distinctive history, upbringing, and cultural context as it relates to the present. However, flexibility and collaboration are central to my approach for those desiring brief consultations for specific situations. I draw from psychoanalytic and attachment theories, which value understanding how our internal and external worlds interact. I pay attention to the contextual thread comprising our present selves including our early experiences and the cultural, sociopolitical milieu we inhabit. I have experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds in inpatient/outpatient hospital settings, community mental health clinics, and college counseling centers. I am especially interested in shifting patterns of psychological trauma to embolden one’s sense of agency and increase cognitive and emotional flexibility for a more compassionate and creative sense of being with self and others.
Hi, I’m Molly Johnson and I’m a licensed therapist in both Massachusetts and Minnesota. I’m passionate about helping people heal, deepen their insight, and become more skillful in how they live their life. While I previously offered in-person therapy, I now work exclusively through virtual sessions. Many clients begin with some hesitation, but soon find that virtual therapy feels just as connected and supportive as being in the room together. My therapeutic approach draws from DBT, CBT, and other evidence-based practices, but at the heart of my work is a genuine listening ear, attentive presence and someone who is cheering you on!
Navigating life changes, especially when things don’t go as planned, can be overwhelming and traumatic. I specialize in working with adults who are going through significant life events and coping with the anxiety, loneliness, and self-doubt that can come along with them. Through a relational and strengths-based lens, I help my clients work through challenging or traumatic moments from their past that are holding them back from fully embracing the present. College students experience a unique type of stress - from adjusting to a new environment, to figuring out who you are, and balancing relationships with people at school and at home. If you find yourself over-thinking, worrying non-stop, or feeling uninterested in things you used to enjoy, therapy can help. With a fresh perspective, you'll gain strength and coping mechanisms to overcome what's preventing you from living a life you love. My hope is that my clients feel seen, supported, and empowered. You are the expert in your own experiences, and it’s my job to walk alongside you as a compassionate witness. Together, we’ll collaborate to identify goals that are aligned with your core values, and implement a plan to help you nurture your authentic self.
During therapy, I believe the most important thing is to view people through their unique lens of life experiences and for me to be fully attuned to you. I invite you to engage with me within a safe holding environment in which I can help you get unstuck and gain freedom to fulfill your personal goals and to resolve any blocks/fears or stressors that are holding you back from a fulfilled life. You've faced so many challenges, and trauma has a knack for taking over everything. Maybe you try to keep busy to escape from it all, but most of the time, it's all-consuming. Your work or studies suffer, because you can’t concentrate. Your relationships are affected as well. It can be hard for others who haven't experienced similar struggles to truly understand you and what’s happening for you. Even for you, finding the right words to articulate it all can be tough. This makes connecting with others a bit more challenging. But trauma doesn't have to be your whole story. It doesn't have to consume your days, thoughts, relationships, and work. Even the trauma that stems from marginalization and oppression doesn't have to define you. Therapy can be where you separate out what has happened to you, from who you are and want to be. It can provide a space to discover peace, clarity, and even moments of joy amidst life's challenges. My passion lies in supporting survivors of interpersonal trauma, particularly those who have experienced child abuse, as well as individuals who face the daily impact of systemic oppression, including BIPOC, LGBTQAI+ individuals, and those who and those who navigate the complex intersections of marginalization. As a biracial Asian and White woman, I daily I navigate the hurtful impacts of racism and sexism in our world. Being multiracial allows me to see the world from different angles, and I appreciate both the difficulties and advantages it brings. I am 3rd-generation Chinese. I carry within me a deeply personal understanding of the burdens of generational trauma and the stress of acculturation within my family. However, I am aware that my experiences are limited to my own point of view and I don't assume to fully grasp how similar experiences have affected others. I approach everyone I meet, regardless of our similarities, with humility.
