I am a Clinical Psychologist with a private practice based in Newton, MA. I work with middle school, high school and college students who are experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, adjustment to college and social issues. I also have a strong interest and expertise in working with student-athletes. My style is warm, collaborative and nonjudgmental with a focus on my clients' strengths and insights into how best to resolve their concerns. I use an integrative treatment approach which includes elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, ACT, mindfulness and a number of additional techniques. I collaborate with my clients to determine an approach to treatment that works best for them. I have an intentionally small practice so that I can offer each client the time, attention and individualized care they desire. I respond quickly to calls and emails, and offer flexible scheduling. Feel free to reach out for a complimentary phone consultation to see if I might be the right fit for what you are looking for.

You may feel stuck in the same patterns: having the same argument with your partner, overthinking every decision, or knowing something needs to change but not knowing where to start. I work with adults and couples navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, and life transitions. Therapy can help slow those patterns down, understand what is driving them, and create more intentional ways of responding so you can feel more connected, grounded, and confident in your relationships and everyday life. My style is collaborative, curious, and down-to-earth. I help clients understand the patterns beneath their distress while also building practical ways to communicate, regulate emotions, and respond differently. I draw from relational, attachment-based, and evidence-informed approaches tailored to each client or couple. Finding the right therapist matters. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If you feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or ready for something to change, I would be glad to talk with you about what you are looking for and whether working together feels like a good fit.

I affiliate with cognitive behavioral approach to treatment (CBT), as well as acceptance commitment therapy (ACT). As a CBT and ACT therapist, my approach is distinguished by forward-looking, positive and goal-oriented approach, with the ultimate outcome of providing you with a set of skills improving your life. When I meet my clients for the first time, we may decide to seek solutions to ADHD, OCD, anxiety or depression. In each situation, therapy aims to support skill development and fosters a sense of balance, or equanimity.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over ten years of experience. My areas of specialty include: depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, conflicts around cultural identity, life transitions, and academic and career struggles. I am particularly interested in helping clients who face conflicts around their race, culture, and identity. This may include first and second-generation immigrants who have the challenge of straddling multiple cultures and finding their authentic voice. I work pragmatically and collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL where I received the Walter Burke Award in Clinical Excellence and a Distinction of Honors on my Ph.D. Comprehensive Qualifying Paper. At Northwestern, I trained in psychodynamic and dialectical behavioral therapy and published several research papers on juvenile detainees and violence in persons with severe mental illness in peer-reviewed journals. I completed my internship at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, NY where I treated adolescents, families, and adults in outpatient clinics, a Psychiatric Emergency Room, and on an adult inpatient unit. Afterward, I worked as an individual and group psychotherapist and clinical supervisor at the counseling center at Fordham University in the Bronx, NY. At Fordham, I was also the outreach coordinator in which I regularly interacted with marginalized students on campus. In addition to working as a psychotherapist, I worked at the Harvard Business School assisting with the organizational psychology course, “Authentic Leadership Development.”

I have been a practicing psychologist for the past 23 years. I have a warm and informal style which I believe serves my clients well. I use techniques that best fit the needs of my clients. I have an active, directive approach in my clinical work. I do not hesitate to give direct feedback and advice to my clients, and will give homework to clients when necessary. At the start of therapy, I prefer to see clients weekly or once every other week in order to establish continuity in the therapy. I have experience providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and elderly clients. I specialize in cognitive and cognitive-behavioral techniques for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and childhood and adult ADD/ADHD. I also employ an Associate Clinician who works with me on a part-time basis. My broad range of experience and skills will help you to move forward to reach your goals with the issues that bring you to therapy. I have had many successes treating children, adolescents and adults, and look forward to working with you.

I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to be able to talk about difficult feelings and experiences, and come up with effective coping skills.
