People say "you are too sensitive" when you share how you feel. Your family and heritage are important to you but there is tension. It's hard to feel relaxed in your body. At times you feel restless and at other times stiff and numb. Feeling balanced is tough. At times, you feel hopeless. You don't like how you tend to replay conversations in your mind. There are too many negative and anxious thoughts that come. Thank you for your interest in my practice! One main strategy to help you with is called EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. A technique that is based in neuroscience that heals your brain naturally-much like eye movements during REM sleep. Developing a safe space to process your emotions, memories, and implementing strategies that will be effective is essential. I am also trained in other modalities like DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic therapy.

My approach to psychotherapy is rooted in psychodynamic and relational theory, cultural awareness, cognitive behavioral techniques, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and neurobehavioral therapeutic approaches. I am dedicated to meeting my clients where they are at and adapting treatment to meet their needs. My therapeutic style is compassionate, relaxed, and empowering. I am currently a postgraduate Social Work Fellow and have worked in a variety of clinical settings, ranging from hospital settings supporting individuals' socio-emotional needs to educational settings supporting individuals' learning needs. I offer psychotherapy services to adults of all ages, including college-aged adults, and specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem and identity issues. I have experience working with refugee populations, as well as survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault. As an Indian-American and immigrant woman, my work is grounded in the intersectionality of gender, racial identity, country of origin, migration, systemic oppression, and sexuality. I enjoy working with individuals across all identities and specialize in working with individuals who hold multiple cultural and/or racial identities.

My therapeutic orientation is guided by psychodynamic, humanistic, and relational approaches, and founded on a strengths-based model, which emphasizes that each person is the expert of their own story. My style is compassionate, empowering, and accessible, and I focus on meeting people where they are. I draw on a range of modalities including narrative therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Liberation Health, and motivational interviewing. My clinical approach is trauma-informed and collaborative, with a queer, feminist, and anti-oppressive lens. I have worked in a variety of settings including hospitals, crisis centers, schools and colleges. I provide psychotherapy to adults of all ages and backgrounds, specializing in anxiety, depression, PTSD, identity, life transitions, relationships, gender and sexuality, and the survival of domestic and or sexual violence. I worked for five years at a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) clinic with individuals experiencing severe, medication-resistant depression, advocating for clients’ needs. My identities and experiences working in a variety of clinical settings have strengthened my passion for working with queer and BIPOC individuals to support healing, growth, and joy.

Each of us has the potential to connect with and live from a creative, energized and compassionate center. Once established, we can perpetually draw upon this connection to understand and accept our past, to guide our present, and to embrace our future. With warmth, commitment and respect, and with attention to body, mind, and spirit, I work to help people access the inner resources they need to live with happiness, safety and ease. As a therapist, I meet people where they are. I collaborate with them to create a treatment that is flexible and responsive to their needs and experience, and help guide them toward their stated goals.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
In-Person & Online
Cambridge, MA

Bret is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working in the Harvard Square section of Cambridge, MA. Bret brings a history of working in diverse clinical settings to bear on the work he does with his clients. His range of experiences include in-patient psychiatric settings, partial hospitalization programs, college counseling centers, and the Massachusetts correctional system. He has worked with those seeking therapy for the first time, as well as folks who have experienced a lifetime of navigating the mental health system. Through each of those settings, one constant has remained in the work he has done, which is the conviction that healing only happens through the establishment of a meaningful and authentic therapeutic relationship. Bret’s eclectic history has enabled him to develop a rich and integrated approach to collaborating with the people he forms connections with in his work. In his private practice, Bret works with adults college-age and older. His abiding belief is that in his work he is not working with a diagnosis or a set of symptoms, but with a person with a unique set of complex challenges that have encouraged them to seek assistance from a caring professional. As such, he feels comfortable working with a broad spectrum of therapeutic concerns. However, given his work in corrections, Bret has developed a unique capacity to connect with those who may be skeptical of the therapeutic process or struggled to find success in other therapies. Additionally, Bret specializes in working with young men who have difficulty forming meaningful connections, finding effective ways to express their emotions, and managing impulsivity and aggression towards themself and others. Bret is currently available for in-person and online sessions

I'm available to support students who may feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain about the path ahead. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, adjusting to college life, struggling with self-doubt, or navigating relationships, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. The students I work best with are those who feel like they’re juggling a lot—academic pressure, personal expectations, and social challenges—but who also want to grow, find balance, and build confidence. My approach is collaborative, and I focus on helping you find practical tools that fit into your life. Therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating; together, we’ll work at your pace to help you feel more grounded and in control. We go through life trying to figure out who we are and whether we can be accepted by family, co-workers, and friends. You learned strategies to show or hide certain parts of yourself to survive after experiencing hurt or rejection, pretending to be "okay" when others ask you how you are feeling to not burden them, but numb on the inside with anxiety or loneliness. Despite the desire to break out of the shell and be happy, life continues to be hard, especially when you look to others and seeing them being happy. And that is why you come to therapy: Because you want life to be meaningful and fulfilling! Therapy will not be simply talking, but a space where we will explore and mend parts of yourself that you love and parts that you avoid. The process may be challenging as I help you rediscover the things you have "swept under the rug" through questions and emotions, but also rewarding as you hopefully come to see yourself in a new light. I will provide a space for you to be you, whoever that may be so that you can look in the mirror and see yourself as deserving of love and happiness. Gamer? Great! Kinks? Awesome! Anime? That's my jam, too! If you are ready to take that courageous step again, please contact me for a 15-minute consultation on what you want in therapy and next steps.

I actively engage with my clients to help them identify and articulate their distress. We work together to discover the counter-productive behaviors and thought patterns leading to this distress. We then work together again on challenging and changing those thoughts and actions. You can expect a therapy experience that is engaged, solution focused, and interactive.

Therapy serves as an opportunity to be curious – to explore the patterns and narratives we carry, repeat, and, at times, feel bound by. Through gentle curiosity, we create space for healing and give ourselves the opportunity to blossom into more authentic versions of ourselves. My therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment theories. With compassion and warmth, I listen closely to the unique story of your life, honoring the experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others. Together, we will untangle these experiences and cultivate hope that life can improve in ways that feel deeply meaningful. I offer individual psychotherapy to adults and older adults with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, trauma, relational difficulties, and identity exploration. Importantly, I strive to remain mindful of the nuanced ways our identities shape our experiences and influence how we move through the world. I have specialized training in geropsychology and am passionate about helping adults navigate the complexities of aging, later-in-life transitions, caregiving, existential concerns, and ageism. My experience also includes working in college counseling centers, memory disorder clinics, community mental health, and with veterans.
