Life can be stressful, chaotic and overwhelming. Transitions such as starting college, graduating college, a new job, separation or divorce, a significant loss, or becoming a new parent can add to our already complicated and stressful lives. Acknowledging that you need help and taking the step of finding a therapist is not easy. It takes both strength and courage. My goal is to help my clients on their personal journey. I believe in the power of relationships. I believe the power of the therapeutic relationship is what can ignite understanding, accepting, healing, changing and growing. My approach is a solution focused, strength-based perspective. I pull from a variety of therapeutic techniques to best address the individual needs of my clients. Specialty/areas of interest: anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bereavement, infertility and grief counseling, and general life transitions- specifically young adults exploring their adult identify and new parents adjusting to the transition of parenthood. I offer secure, confidential telehealth therapy. You participate where it is most comfortable and convenient for you. ***I also offer short term summer counseling for college students’ home for summer break. I am a college therapist during the academic school year and I am aware of the challenge summer breaks can be for students who are temporarily home and away from their primary therapist at college. I offer short term therapy to bridge the gap in care.

I am the mythical therapist who understands gender, trauma, and neurodivergence at the same time. They told you it was impossible, but they were wrong! I’m right here! Instead of teaching you buzzwords and therapyspeak, I can help you build the relational skills to communicate what you feel, want, and need in your own words. I can guide you in exploring identity and building a resilient sense of self. My approach is a fairly eclectic mix of modalities, but always relational and attachment-based. I practice from a neurodiversity lens and am well-versed in understanding and meeting the needs of clients living with autism, ADHD, and other flavors of neurodivergence. I am passionate about helping you better understand your nervous system, to contextualize why you do what you do and figure out what you need. I also know that each person I work with has been shaped not only by their individual history, but by the culture(s) and systems of power that surround them. I see naming and exploring those forces as a liberatory and necessary part of therapy. When I’m not seeing clients, I may be found spending time with friends, hiking or camping, making pottery, hanging out with my dog, reading, playing video games, or crocheting. In terms of social location, I am a white queer transmasculine/genderqueer millennial and have lived experience with neurodivergence.

Hello, it is great to meet you! My name is Margaret, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I began my career as a high school teacher before receiving my Master's in Social Work, and I particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults in their college years. In addition to private practice work, I have spent many years working with schools and supporting adolescents, parents, and educators. I feel passionate about helping others through difficult transition periods in their lives with grounding, understanding, and tools to deal with challenges in a healthy and meaningful way. I like to collaborate with students to develop tools to manage stress or difficult life transitions, alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, or prioritize self-care. I work hard to partner with students to develop the support they need to feel more empowered and joyful and have a deeper connection to themselves and those they care about.

As a therapist and yoga teacher, I strive to provide a welcoming space where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves and supported in achieving their treatment goals. First, we will work together to deepen understanding of your current stressors and then identify areas for healing and growth. We will explore a variety of therapeutic techniques together and I am committed to helping you discover what works best for you. My therapeutic style is collaborative and strength-based. I draw upon a myriad of clinical interventions including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction, self-compassion research, as well as various yogic and meditative practices. Together we will identify interventions and tools that best serve your unique treatment goals. I firmly believe that healing is possible within the therapeutic relationship and have witnessed clients develop the skills to move through life's challenges with greater ease. "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" (Tao Te Ching). I know how hard that first step can be. I have been a therapist for over 20 years, and I'm here to help you through struggles and teach you techniques and coping skills that can help you manage your stress levels, communicate better with loved ones, achieve a balance between work and relaxation, and change patterns that no longer serve you. I have extensive experience working with adults, children (age 10+), adolescents, couples and families and used evidence based treatments to bring about relief quickly. If you're looking for extra support through a challenging situation or want to move in a new direction in life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. My approach is eclectic and individualized including (but not limited to) CBT, Strengths-Based Therapy, EMDR, Meditation/Mindfulness. I like to create a safe environment for clients to explore challenges, express their needs, and work towards a happier, healthier life. My schedule is open to day and evening appointments, and I welcome you to contact me. We are all "works in progress."

I am accepting new clients! I believe in the power of therapy to help people connect with inner wisdom, explore and build upon strengths, and process difficulties in a supportive and non-judgmental space. I view the therapeutic relationship as being fundamental to growth and change, as it lays the groundwork for you to work through vulnerable feelings and explore relational patterns. I try to foster this relationship by connecting on a human level and providing an atmosphere of care, acceptance, openness, curiosity, and humility. While I tend not to give advice, I may share new perspectives, offer tools for change, or help you draw connections between current patterns and past experiences. I deeply respect your decision to seek therapy and look forward to getting to know you.

The Narrative Network

Group practice
Online
Arlington, MA

The Narrative Network offers collaborative therapy for people across Massachusetts and brings therapists together for supervision, training, and ongoing relationships with the ideas and practices called narrative therapy. We believe people are more than the problems they are facing. Difficulties take shape in lives, relationships, histories, and social worlds — and therapy can create room to notice the values, knowledges, commitments, and relationships that may have become harder to see when life is difficult.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by stress, grief, shame, or old patterns that they cannot seem to break. In our sessions you will have room to slow down, reflect, and release the weight of what you have been carrying. We aim to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and more connected to the life you want, both personally and professionally. We are a group practice led by Rebecca, an LICSW, and Julianne, an LMHC, offering Tuesday and Friday telehealth appointments with the goal of providing accessible, supportive therapy for all patients. If you are ready to begin this process, we are here to support you. Our work is grounded in cognitive behavioral and trauma informed approaches. This means we focus on helping you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and experiences interact, and how you can develop practical tools to cope with what you are going through. We work with adults, and welcome anyone seeking support for depression, trauma, grief, stress, or life changes. Whether challenges are longstanding or new, you do not have to face them alone.

The years surrounding college --young adulthood--is a time filled with amazing exploration as well as stress, sadness, and a lot of unknowns. We really begin to learn not just about who we have been to others, but about who we can become. Working with a therapist can offer a way to explore some of these feelings and experiences with someone who has first hand understanding of being a youg adult (we all were at one time!), who wants to get to know who you are becoming and help you find a way to get there with a sense of power and voice. Life can be awesome but it can also be scary and hard sometimes and no-one has to do this alone!
