Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
Hi everyone, my name is Emma Hickey and I am a recent graduate from Kennesaw State University's Master of Social Work program. My practice utilizes a client centered approach which focuses on and emphasizes client’s individual strengths and empowers clients to decide what is best for them. I help clients learn to integrate Cognitive Behavioral techniques to help identify the connection of thought, behavior, and emotion. I focus on interpersonal relationships and self-talk via storytelling. I incorporate narrative therapy techniques to empower clients to become the authors of their own stories. Additionally, I help clients learn and incorporate Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills to provide in the moment relief to intense emotions.
Sometimes we feel stuck. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed. Sometimes we feel bad and we don't know why. My goal is to help you trailblaze through the forest of life with an improved sense of self and sense of direction. To facilitate this process I use a variety of self-assessment tools and provide self-care education. Sessions will involve talk-therapy and may include use of worksheets, journaling, charting, and art-based interventions. I also incorporate the healing power of humor, when appropriate. I will partner with you to help you feel comfortable in your own skin and confident in each step you take towards growth.
Welcome to a Space for Growth and Balance! Hi, I’m an LCSW providing virtual therapy throughout Georgia. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with college students to support them through the transitions and challenges of college life. Whether you’re starting college, navigating its ups and downs of a new normal, anxious,l depression, or preparing for life after graduation, I’m here to help you find balance, clarity, and confidence. I know prioritizing yourself can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. As a wife, mother, and professional, I understand how easy it is to put your needs last. But here’s the truth: investing in yourself is not only worthwhile but essential for creating meaningful, lasting change. My goal is to provide a convenient, safe, and compassionate virtual space where you can focus on your personal growth. Using approaches grounded in CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I’ll meet you where you are, tailoring our work together to your unique needs. Whether you’re feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, or navigating relationship challenges, I’m here to help you take small, meaningful steps toward the change you’re seeking. During our sessions, you’ll have a space where you can be heard and validated without judgment. You’ll leave feeling a sense of relief, empowered with tools to navigate life’s challenges, and clearer about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Over time, these insights will help shift your perspective, improve your mood, and bring the change you want to see in your life. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’re returning for a fresh start, I believe a new normal is possible. Together, we can practice skills that promote balance and resilience. Let’s work toward a life where your needs are valued, your boundaries respected, and your path to wellness supported. Change is possible. Let’s take the first step together.

In each person's life a little rain must fall. At times, however, it may feel as though you are ill equipped to weather the storm. Gaining new coping skills, strengthening self-esteem and adopting new behaviors are just some of the possible outcomes of successful counseling. I consider it an honor to hear your story and work with you towards change. Whether you are battling anxiety, low self-esteem, going through a transition such as a career change or are dealing with past wounds, my hope is that you'll find a safe place to land as we work together to find a place that brings fulfillment and helps you reach your goals. I work from a person-centered approach, understanding that we each come with our own strengths and challenges. I offer a collaborative approach and encouraging space utilizing techniques from a variety of theoretical frameworks and evidenced-based treatments. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. We will work together to identify your goals and make a plan on how to achieve them. I strive to listen empathetically and provide a judgement-free space to explore the things keeping you from living the life you desire. If you are ready to start experiencing life in a more fulfilling way, I would be happy to help you get started.
I see clients with a wide range of backgrounds and issues. Most commonly I help with depression, anxiety, and self-esteem/confidence. I offer regular talk therapy as well as hypnotherapy when necessary.
My name is Tonya Klemmer, LCSW. I have been practicing social work for close to 23 years now. I love to empower others and help guide them to becoming the best version of themselves. I use various treatment modalities in my work with clients. I spent 5 years working in a college setting teaching social work and sociology courses and found that these years can be difficult to manage. I love being able to provide the support needed during the times that you need it most.
Hello, I'm Dr. Rick Van Haveren, a Licensed Psychologist of over 20 years. I have a unique practice where I integrate school/work, health/sport, and life goals. You might experience problems with your relationships. This can lead to difficulties at work, and over time contribute to health problems. Further, a student might struggle in school. The result can be a poor attitude at home, which can cause negative emotions and ineffective coping. The goal of my practice is for you to develop strategies for the best personal life, career, and health. Are you ready to maximize your potential? Visit my website today, www.performancephd.com.
