Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
Hi, I'm glad you are reaching out for help and to begin the process of self-discovery. Due to COVID, I'm currently providing only telehealth sessions. We can all encounter barriers — often these are out of our awareness — that prevent us from thriving in our careers and in relationships. I believe the therapeutic relationship offers a unique opportunity in the here-and-now to increase our self-awareness and understand the influence of the past on our present behavior. I work collaboratively, empathically and creatively to help you get “unstuck” and to foster meaningful, lasting change in your inner world and in your relationships with others. Over the years, I have worked with people who are experiencing challenges related to college, work, intimate relationships, identity (cultural, racial, sexual, gender, class – and intersections of these), trauma, grief, adjustments or transitions, anxiety and depression. I have worked for many years with graduate and undergraduate students.
Would you believe that many of our personal struggles stem from early childhood experiences? As an integrative mind-body psychotherapist, Jennifer helps clients navigate a wide range of concerns, including abandonment wounds, conflictual relationships and healing the inner child. She has clinical experience and specialized interest in Anxiety, Mood and Personality Disorders, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder, as well as supporting individuals impacted by narcissistic abuse. Jennifer enjoys working with clients to explore their shadow self, whether addressing depression, unresolved childhood experiences, reparenting work, nervous system regulation or lifestyle and nutritional wellness. Her goal is to meet each client exactly where they are, using a holistic and integrative approach to healing. Through a strong collaborative therapeutic relationship, Jennifer believes clients can explore their presenting concerns within an environment that is supportive, nonjudgmental and most importantly, emotionally safe. Together, you will examine thoughts, behaviors and relational patterns to gain deeper insight and understanding. With a solutions-oriented perspective, she provides a structured framework that encourages meaningful change and supports movement toward wholeness. Jennifer strongly believes in the power of self-care and the importance of balancing both internal and external experiences to become harmoniously grounded in your most authentic self. Your life is now in session…will you participate in its unfolding?
It all starts with a good therapist. Hi, I’m Dr. Dominique Thomas. I specialize in supporting students who feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, or like they’re carrying more than people realize. Many of the students I work with are balancing academics, mental health, family expectations, and relationship struggles, all while trying to figure out who they are and what matters most to them. If your mind feels like it’s always going, or you’re juggling a lot emotionally and mentally, you’re not alone band you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I work best with students navigating ADHD, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, identity questions, family conflict, and relationship challenges. You might be the strong one in your circle, the first in your family to pursue higher education, or someone who shows up for others while silently burning out. This space is for you. In therapy, we’ll explore the patterns and pressures shaping your experience and create practical, affirming strategies that actually work for your life. My approach is warm, culturally sensitive, and collaborative. I meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be with more clarity, confidence, and peace. If you’re feeling stuck, misunderstood, or just emotionally exhausted, know that support is available and healing is possible. I’m here to walk with you.

I’m passionate about helping adolescents and adults feel seen, heard, supported, and empowered. I provide Trauma-Informed Care, which means I view behaviors as reflections of deeper experiences—not simply choices. Many trauma responses are often misunderstood as “bad behaviors,” but when we take time to understand the experiences behind them, we can begin to identify new ways to heal, grow, and build healthy coping skills. Outside of therapy, I enjoy playing with my dog, going to the gym, and watching football My ideal clients are teens and young adults who may be struggling with mood disorders, anxiety, depression, challenges at school, home, relationships, and life transitions. I utilize CBT, DBT and Collaborative Problem Solving to address ways to meet your goals, and I can tailor interventions that are unique to you. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey or help you feel more confident and understood, I would be honored to walk alongside you. I provide services for all Georgia residents via telehealth and in person for Atlanta-based clients

Were you recently diagnosed with a Chronic Illness? Or perhaps always had one and unable to balance school AND your health? As if college wasn't already hard enough, now add a list of doctors, medications, and the newest anti-inflammatory menu. It's okay to not have it ALL figured out. During our sessions, we will navigate this together. I will provide space for you to iron out the frustrations and re-write your healing journey. Be well, C. Hunter
Cheers to you for starting (or continuing) your mental wellness journey! This part is not easy- but you can feel proud for doing so! Together, we will identify a treatment plan that will help you in navigating: life transitions, relationships, trauma, breakups, family concerns, stress/anxiety, work/career issues, thinking patterns, self-esteem, etc. I believe our thoughts are pivotal in how we see others, ourselves, and the world. If you struggle with negative thought patterns, often feel “in your head” and struggle to thrive in your day to day, let’s talk! I have extensive training and experience with reframing unhelpful thoughts, imposter syndrome, decreasing stress & anxiety symptoms, and self-image concerns. Let’s work together to improve the relationship with yourself and others! My commitment to clients is to show up authentically, and to provide a safe space that allows you to do the same! While the work of therapy can be challenging and complex, I do my best to make it enjoyable, productive, and worthwhile! I have been working with individuals, couples and families since 1996. I received my BS degree in Psychology from Spelman College (1992) and my Masters degree in Community Counseling from Georgia State (1996). I am proud to have a culturally diverse clientele that I've worked with for 20 plus years. Some of my areas of interest and training include: general mental health concerns (depression, anxiety); couples and partnership concerns, substance abuse/recovery, young adult issues, adjustment difficulties and more. I work with all clients in a manner that is personal, respectful and results-oriented. Whether you are entering therapy for the first time or restarting the therapeutic process, we can work together and make positive changes.
I work with young women who are tired of feeling overwhelmed with recent changes in their life and want to regain control, so they are looking for a therapist who can understand their unique challenges and be "real" with them. You want to feel connected to yourself and your loved ones, but deep down are struggling to juggle the different aspects of your life or cope with challenging experiences that have occurred recently. Maybe you have trouble recognizing who you are today, feel crippled by anxiety most of the day or can't quite communicate your needs. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to find the confidence in your decision making and connect with your environment better. Most of all, you’re ready to find joy in the day-to-day again. You’re ready for a new “normal,” and I can help you get there. As an experienced life transition and trauma therapist, I believe that every woman can find freedom from pressures that are often placed on us. My training in specific treatment modalities gives me the expertise you need to reconnect with yourself. You don’t have to continue feeling alone. Call me today for a free 15-min consultation, I can't wait to hear from you.
You may be seeking therapy to help remove or change issues which are causing you discomfort. In addition to therapy helping you cope and reduce your distress, the process of self-discovery within the therapeutic relationship can lead to an increased understanding and acceptance of yourself. It can also lead to an expansion of comfort with all aspects of yourself. I am a clinical psychologist with 30 years’ experience working with adults, young adults, and couples in a variety of settings including private practice, hospitals, and outpatient medical clinics. I have provided therapy to patients in primary care clinics (e.g., neurology, cardiology, ob/gyn, and oncology). I work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substances, trauma, medical concerns, or relationship difficulties. My approach is strength-based and grounded in the belief that all people are using their best skills to address the demands and challenges in their lives. I focus on being curious and nonjudgmental as I explore areas of an individual’s current functioning, those which are effective in addressing daily challenges as well as those which can interfere with effective functioning. I am also certified in EMDR which I tailor to the individual needs of my clients. Your life experiences have influenced your emotional beliefs and decisions. You use these thoughts, emotions, and deep beliefs as you interact with others and with your world. You may respond to situations in your life in ways which seem, on the surface, to be confusing or make no sense. Addressing this confusion and discomfort is an act of courage. Throughout the therapy process, we will examine these areas. My experience has been that this exploration will lead you to develop increased self-compassion, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. From this place of mindfulness, new choices and decisions emerge which will allow you to experience greater fulfillment in your life. It is a privilege for me to join clients in their exploration of themselves and their world. I look forward to working with you to investigate and discover all of who you are.
Hello and welcome! Life can feel like a lot sometimes. You might be feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, anxiety or depression, questioning your path, navigating complicated relationships, or trying to hold it all together while everyone else seems to be thriving. College and student life can bring growth and independence, but also burnout, impostor syndrome, loneliness, and identity questions. You don’t have to navigate it alone. I specialize in working with students experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and family or relationship challenges. Many of the clients I work with are untangling complex family dynamics, healing from past experiences, or learning how to set boundaries while honoring their cultural or personal values. I also support neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD and executive functioning challenges, and understand the stress that can come from masking or feeling misunderstood in academic spaces. My approach blends cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapy, meaning we’ll look at both present patterns and deeper roots. Together, we’ll build insight, strengthen coping skills, and help you develop a more supportive and realistic inner voice. Therapy with me is collaborative — we’ll reflect, challenge patterns, and even laugh when it fits. I am committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive care for diverse clients, including BIPOC, neurodiverse, and LGBTQ+ individuals. If you’re exploring identity, belonging, or navigating systems that weren’t built with you in mind, that work is welcome here. I aim to create a space where you can show up as you are — warm, supportive, and real (not drive-thru mental health care). I am currently an Associate Professional Counselor (APC), working toward full licensure under the guidance of Lauren Vaughan-D'Angelo, LPC, CPCS. I provide virtual therapy for clients across Georgia, with evening and weekend availability. My standard rate is $125, and I accept select insurance plans as well as self-pay. I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots to help keep therapy accessible and within reach. If you’re wondering whether we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute phone “vibe check.”
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in treating codependency, chronic stress, attachment issues, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, addiction, and trauma. My approach to therapy is both honest and direct, while being gentle and understanding. I am motivated to work with others on their journey to becoming their best and most authentic selves. I use evidence-based therapies, such as REBT, CBT, DBT and mindfulness techniques. My counseling/therapeutic approach is culturally-competent and welcoming to all populations and lifestyles.
