I’m a licensed counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and discover their strengths. I specialize in working with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, and I bring a compassionate, collaborative approach to the therapy process. In addition to my general practice, I have extensive experience supporting college students as they work through academic pressures, identity exploration, transitions, and personal growth. If you have any questions or would like to schedule a session, feel free to reach out. I’d be honored to be part of your journey. Warm regards,

Acceptance and change are hard. I help people face and make space for their life histories and experiences and support them in identifying and making the changes that lead to meaning and satisfaction in their lives and relationships. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and my role is to provide encouragement, support and guidance on your journey of healing and growth. My practice is focused on the needs of men, and I enjoy helping men that are struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic illness or disability, relationship issues, complex trauma/childhood wounds, racial stress and trauma, and navigating adulthood/"failure to launch" and masculinity. As a Black man, I am committed to addressing the unique experiences of and challenges that face BIPOC men. I believe that humans are wired for connection and that profound and lasting healing comes from satisfying this essential need. My work is based on AEDP Psychotherapy (formally known as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) and Emotionally Focused Therapy. The AEDP Institute (aedpinstitute.org) describes AEDP Psychotherapy as “an experiential model that seeks to alleviate patients’ psychological suffering by helping them process the overwhelming emotions associated with trauma in a way that facilitates corrective emotional and relational experiences that mobilize positive changes in our neuroplastic brains.” The International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (iceeft.com/) describes Emotionally Focused Therapy as a “form of therapy that helps people understand and improve their emotional connection with themselves and others.” Both therapies emphasize the importance of our relationships with ourselves and others and use the power of corrective experiences with our emotions within the safe haven and secure base of the therapist-client relationship to fuel growth and healing. I also use skills and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and other approaches that emphasize mindfulness, acceptance, and compassion when needed to facilitate healing. I come from a family of helpers and healers, and I have been privileged to help people in a variety of roles and settings. I have worked as a state social welfare caseworker, an assistant in a state library for the blind and disabled, a respiratory therapist and a medical social worker. I grew up in a military family and was fortunate to be exposed to and learn from a variety of cultures. I am a member of the "sandwich generation” and know what it means to care for and support older and younger family members with chronic illness and disability simultaneously. As a person living with chronic illness, I also have lived experience with the challenges and limitations that come along with living with a disability. My experiences have fostered in me a deep appreciation of and respect for the diversity of the human experience. When I am not working, I enjoy all things that involve good food, friends, and family. I look forward to learning more about you, who and what matters to you, and traveling with you on your journey of hope and healing!

Heather Vann
My practice specializes in providing clinical counseling and consulting services for diverse populations from a systemic lens. I provide individual and family counseling, evaluations for ADHD & autism, forensic family law evaluations, as well as clinical supervision for Mental Health Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy interns seeking licensure in Florida. I focus my clinical work on helping adolescents and teens under stress and adults who have lived through difficult times as children. This means that many of my clients identify as Gen-Z, millennials, and high-achieving professionals who have experienced trauma in their families of origin and desire to seek and engage in healthier relationships with themselves and with others. In the last few years as my practice has become more specialized, a common denominator is that many of my clients are exploring their brain style and its accompanying traits. Consequently, my ideal client is someone exploring how their ADHD, giftedness, and/or autism are impacting their school & work performance, their mental & physical health, and their relationships. Neurodiversity affirming therapy is a client-centered approach that recognizes the diversity of human experience and promotes acceptance, inclusion, and empowerment for individuals with neurological differences. As a result, my therapeutic approach is strengths-based, supportive, goal-oriented, and trauma-informed. As a systemic therapist, that means addressing diversity, gender, power, and other sociocultural dimensions is an inherent part of the work we will do together. My own lived experience combined with over a decade of working with neurodivergent individuals and their families allows me to bring unique perspective and empathy to the therapeutic space. You might like my style if you are craving- or even open to – exploration of your inner child, befriending your body, gaining emotional intelligence, and navigating healthier relationships.
Angel Jones
Great to meet you! Hi, I’m Angela. I’ve been supporting people through life’s ups and downs for many years, and I believe that we all deserve understanding, kindness, and a space where we can explore what’s really going on for us. I work with individuals, couples, and families — including kids, teens, adults, and seniors — who are facing things like anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD challenges, stress in relationships, or family issues. No matter where you are in your journey, I’m here to help you feel heard and supported as you make healthier choices and create the life you want. A bit about my approach to therapy I bring warmth, openness, and a “we’re in this together” attitude to our work. Clients describe me as understanding, genuine, and easy to talk to — someone who laughs with you, sits with the hard moments, and doesn’t shy away from the tough stuff. We’ll talk it out, make space for the stories you bring, and work through challenges at a pace that feels right for you. My style is solution-oriented and open-minded, and you’ll always be met with respect and curiosity. What you can expect from our first session In our first session, you can expect to feel welcomed and genuinely listened to. We’ll focus on understanding what’s been pulling at you and what you hope to change. You’ll leave with a sense of clarity, some early ideas for what we might explore together, and a feeling that this is a safe space where you can show up as you are. Over time, many people find they feel more confident handling life’s stresses, stronger in their relationships, and better equipped with tools to move forward with purpose and resilience.

My goal as a therapist is to support you during difficult life transitions. These transitions may include starting college, searching for jobs, adjusting to roommates, and exploring gender and sexuality for yourself. Transitions and changes may evoke a sense of grief and loss, regardless if it's positive, negative, or neutral. As a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist, I can help you with the difficult emotions that are associated with these changes. Our sessions would focus on finding the root of your symptoms, processing your grief, and starting your healing journey. Although my specialty is grief and loss, I address a wide variety of concerns, including emotional regulation, managing anxiety and depression, healing from childhood trauma, and increasing resilience. Often, our symptoms can be traced back to the losses and trauma experienced in our lives. I often utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy to treat these symptoms as well. Please visit my website for more information.

Nicole Prowell, PhD, LCSW
I believe that mental health is a journey of piecing together multiple working parts, and I hope to be a part of that process with you. About Me I hold a PhD in Social Work and I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving the states of Georgia and Maryland. I received my PhD from the University of Alabama, my MSW from the University of Georgia, and BA from The University of Alabama. I have multiple years of clinical experience among various populations (children, teens, families, and young adults), various backgrounds, and in numerous settings (residential, inpatient, outpatient, private practice). I also currently hold an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Social Work. I am someone with whom people generally feel at ease and comfortable, which is an important part of what makes therapy work. My initial goal within the therapeutic relationship is to provide you with just that: a positive, safe, and comfortable place, where you feel at ease to talk about things that matter to you. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my pets, finding challenging hikes, cooking/baking, going to the beach/finding water, gardening, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy picking up new creative projects and DIYs! Who I Help & What I Help With Who I Can Help 1. Children (6-12) 2. Teens (13-17) 3. Emerging & Young Adults (18-29) 4. Adult Couples What I Can Help With 1. Relationship issues or losing a relationship 2. Adjusting to and navigating life transitions 3. Improving unhealthy/disruptive habits and behaviors 4. Feeling sad or depressed 5. Trauma and loss 6. Feeling overwhelmed or anxious 7. Feeling alone or disconnected from others 8. Experiencing stress at work, school, or home 9. Conflict resolution and problem-solving 10. Learning to value and love yourself My Approach Types of Therapies It’s not uncommon for someone to enter therapy a bit nervous and with no clear sense of where to start – they simply want things to change for the better and to feel like themselves again. You are the expert of your own experience, but it’s easy to lose your way and feel lost when in distress. I will meet you wherever you are and help you piece things back to a sense of what normal feels like for you. The best approach is one that works for you, so I may draw on several different approaches to therapy, all of which have been shown by research to help individuals reduce stress, gain clarity, and make changes in their lives. They include but are not limited to: 1. Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) 2. Psychodynamic Therapy 3. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) 4. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) 5. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) 6. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) 7. Person-Centered Therapy 8. Narrative Therapy 9. Culturally Sensitive Therapy Services & Payment Things to Know First 1. At this time, all sessions will be remote/virtual and take place through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. 2. You may choose the mode with which you are most comfortable (i.e., video, phone). 3. Virtual sessions are a great option for accessibility and flexibility, but please be sure to first, consider whether this is the most appropriate option for you at this time. How to Get Started Ready to get started? For scheduling of any kind (free consult, intake, regular sessions, etc.), just head to the “Contact Me” tab or the “book appointment” link at the bottom of every page of this website. You can schedule your first appointment on your own and whenever you’re ready with no initial contact required. Please note that I am committed to your privacy. Therefore, please do not include confidential or private information if you choose to email or call. Further and more detailed information will be exchanged through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. I look forward to speaking with you! Visits with me typically involve the following types of sessions: Intake Session: Assessment & Planning (60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $200) It’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist, and while you have the option of beginning with a phone consultation or intake session, the first few sessions serve to help you and me decide whether the therapeutic relationship will be the best fit. The intake also serves as an Assessment and Planning phase, which is focused on learning more in depth about you, your history, and what brings you to therapy. This phase also allows me to begin putting together a plan for future sessions if you are comfortable with moving forward. All follow up sessions after the initial intake session will be considered a regular therapy session. Regular Individual Therapy Session (30-60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $90-$180) Following the Assessment and Planning phase, we’ll decide when and how often to meet. Session time frames depend on your treatment needs and personal circumstances and are guided by the plan we develop together. Please note that 30-minute sessions are private pay only. These sessions may work well for children and adolescents, day-to-day check-ins, more solution-focused sessions, quicker access to therapy, etc. Regular Family Therapy Session With Client (30 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $108, Private Pay Only) When needed, family sessions provide an opportunity to strengthen communication, address relational dynamics, and support your child or adolescent’s progress in treatment. These sessions may include parents/guardians, caregivers, and/or siblings depending on the goals we establish together. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Brief Family Therapy Session Without Client (15 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $54, Private Pay Only) These brief check-ins offer a dedicated space for parents and caregivers to share observations, ask questions, and stay connected to their child’s therapeutic progress without the client present. They are not a replacement for regular family sessions but rather, serve as a lightweight touchpoint between sessions when needed. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Couples Therapy Session (60 minutes; $216, Private Pay Only) Couples therapy sessions provide a structured space to address relational concerns, improve communication, and work toward shared goals within the relationship. These sessions are designed to support both partners in understanding relational patterns, navigating conflict more effectively, and building a stronger foundation for daily functioning together. Please note that all couples therapy sessions of any length are private pay only. Payment Options In-Network Insurance & Third-Party Payers I currently accept the following insurance plans in Georgia: 1. Aetna 2. Cigna/Evernorth 3. United Healthcare/UBH/Optum 4. Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans I currently accept the following insurance plans in Maryland: 1. Aetna 2. Cigna/Evernorth 3. United Healthcare/UBH/Optum 4. Medicaid/Carelon Behavioral Health 5. Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans This means that if you are enrolled in any of these plans (or potentially any of their subsidiaries), your out-of-pocket expense is limited to your deductible and copay/coinsurance. While I can assist in determining what these costs will be, it may be helpful to ask your insurance provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 2. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *I am currently working to become a provider in network with Anthem as well as any applicable subsidiaries under Anthem in the state of Georgia. I am also currently working to become a provider in network with CareFirst as well as any applicable subsidiaries under CareFirst in the state of Maryland. Private Pay & Out-of-Network Reimbursement I also accept private pay, and if you have another insurance provider, you may also have out-of-network benefits. With this option, your insurance benefits may reimburse the majority of the cost of therapy. With both private pay and out-of-network reimbursement, you will be provided with automatic invoices, statements, and superbills for any needed reimbursements later from your insurance provider. I recommend calling your insurance provider to learn more about how reimbursement works. It may be helpful to ask your provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. Does my plan provide out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services? 2. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 3. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *Lack of insurance coverage, privacy concerns, flexibility, and quicker access to care are only a few of the reasons why one might choose this option. Cancellation Policy All clients are required to have an active credit/debit card on file at the time of scheduling an appointment. For appointment no-shows, last-minute cancellations, or inactive insurance, you will be charged in full regardless of reason. This is necessary, as a time commitment is made and held exclusively for you. You may still apply this fee to future appointments. Contact Me Ready to get started?
