Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Welcome to Kass Integrative Psychiatry! I am so glad you're here. My name is Dr. Rebecca Kass, and I am a board certified psychiatrist specializing in general and holistic mental health for adults and teens. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, I graduated as my high school’s valedictorian before earning a bachelor’s in creative writing and chemistry from Eckerd College. I completed medical school under a merit-based scholarship at USF Morsani College of Medicine and psychiatric residency at the University of New Mexico. I have additional training in psychedelic-assisted therapies and Integrative Medicine. Now an outpatient psychiatrist in Boulder, Colorado, I specialize in young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, LGBTQIA+ issues and ADHD. I continue integrating nutritional, holistic and psychedelic psychiatry to support your whole health and natural wellbeing.
In 2015, I began my own therapy journey, and it truly transformed my life. Understanding myself better and gaining awareness of why I respond the way I do gave me a sense of control and empowerment that I had never experienced before. For the first time, I realized that I could change how I show up in my daily life, how I respond to challenges, and how I engage in relationships. This profound experience inspired me to pursue a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling, so I could help others feel the same sense of empowerment and growth. I prioritize creating a space where my clients feel heard, seen, and validated. When they're ready, I gently challenge them to increase their self-awareness, shift their perspectives, and focus on what they can control. My approach is rooted in compassion and understanding, and I use a combination of person-centered therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help my clients process trauma, manage anxiety, and build healthier thought patterns.
I work best with students who are balancing caregiving responsibilities with their own personal and academic goals. Many of my clients experience stress, burnout, grief, or feelings of isolation as they care for a loved one while trying to navigate school and life transitions. My approach is mindfulness-based, practical, and supportive, helping students develop coping strategies, set boundaries, and reconnect with their own needs. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, grief, or the emotional weight of caregiving, I provide a space where you can feel heard and supported. You don’t have to manage everything alone—I’m here to help.

Whether you are struggling with perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, can't get over your last relationship, or just don't know if you want to keep going at all...I'm here to help. I struggled mentally throughout my late teens and early twenties; carrying around a lot of shame, self-doubt, and difficulty understanding why it appeared so much easier for everyone else. As a therapist, I am here to listen--not just to your stories, but for the swells of deep feeling that can lead to healing. Together, we will uncover your false beliefs that may be causing unneeded suffering and learn to trust your inner voice as a guide and companion.
My expertise is in helping people change how they feel or behave using evidence-based therapy and guidance. I focus on building a trusting relationship in which you feel open to discuss and work on whatever aspects of your life that you are hoping to change. People tell me they quickly feel at ease talking with me. Together we assess what feelings, thoughts or behaviors you would like to change or feel differently about or how you would like a relationship to be different. We make goals together to guide this process. I then guide you on how to make these changes, sustain them, and assess when you have attained them.

These are scary and overwhelming places to be. I can help you navigate where you are at and find new pathways to live your best life.

Life is beautiful, but can also be so incredibly painful sometimes. I believe we each have the inner strength to overcome challenges and childhood wounds, and it is my role to help you realize these strengths. You CAN feel differently, heal, and change your life TODAY. As a holistic therapist, I believe each client is interconnected through mind, body, and spirit; and integrate various treatment modalities into therapy. I specialize in treating individuals with symptoms of stress/anxiety, past trauma, and relationship issues. I also enjoy working with grief/loss (including pets), creatives, and Highly Sensitive People. I strive to build a trusting relationship with my clients and provide a safe space to be fully seen and heard. From my own experience as well as others', I have seen the amazing healing benefits of therapy. I feel honored to hold space and witness clients blossom into the person they are MEANT to be. A clinically focused therapist, I specialize in a trauma-informed approach to managing burnout, anxiety, gender dysphoria, and the many complications that come with queer and neurodivergent identities. I often work with adolescent and adult trauma survivors, queer and transgender folks, and anyone else who feels left behind by the white, able-bodied, neurotypical, hetero-centric, and/or cisgender expectations of our society. You may have spent a long time navigating a world that wasn't built with you in mind. Maybe you're wondering whether the things keeping you up at night are real and valid, or if they're just "all in your head." Maybe you've recently received or suspect a diagnosis of ADHD, Autism, or OCD, and you're trying to make sense of what that means for your life. Or maybe you're working toward living out your queerest, most authentic self, and you're looking for a space where that journey is celebrated rather than questioned. No matter what brings you here, my work is grounded in transparency and accountability, and in the belief that every human being carries a natural capacity to heal and grow. That belief shapes how I show up for you: as a forward-thinking, inventive partner who takes your experience seriously. Everyone has something to be proud of, a vast and sometimes hidden greatness that is uniquely theirs. I look forward to seeing yours, and helping you build a life you'd never imagined you could live. At the center of my work is the belief that no matter how different your brain, body, or soul might seem to others, or how long you've been living in survival mode, it is possible to build a life you can genuinely thrive in. That belief isn't a slogan; it's the foundation of my work with each and every patient. Resilience, adaptation, and self-acceptance are the goals we work toward together. To get there, I draw from a wide range of approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems, narrative therapy, and attachment theory — selecting and combining tools based on what fits you, not a predetermined framework. My style is strengths-based and highly individualized to your background and goals, supporting you in a judgment-free environment as you build a happiness that is uniquely yours. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own gender transition in 2021. At what was the most fearful and uncertain time of my life, I was fortunate to have guides and mentors who helped me not just understand, but love who I was. They taught me to seek my joy in everything, and believed I was beautiful before I could see it myself. Since then, I've wanted nothing more than to give that same gift to others: authentic care, patience, and the vision to see that each of us, no matter how hurt or how different we might be, is a beautiful thread in the rich tapestry of life. When you sit across from me, that history comes with me, as a reminder of what it means to be seen by someone who truly believes in you, and as a commitment to being that person for you. In my spare time, I enjoy playing board games with my friends, sword-fighting at local LARP clubs, carving and crafting various leather gifts, and living a very gay domestic life with my partners, who love taking me out to KBBQ on the weekends.
I am a licensed social worker who helps patients navigate identity, interpersonal relationships, and loneliness. My work centers on people of all backgrounds, with a particular focus on queer, transgender, and gender-diverse patients; patients with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder; neurodivergent patients, including those with autism and ADHD; and patients in recovery from substance use. This includes teenage, young adult, and older adult patients navigating changing identity alongside mental health challenges, as well as supporting patients through crises such as suicidality, paranoia, and trauma-related stress. Together, we work toward healthy boundaries, stronger social relationships, and effective coping skills. When we meet, you can expect a calm, compassionate environment from the start. I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic therapies to help you navigate acute stress and overwhelm before moving into more expansive identity work. Art and creativity are central to how I practice, particularly for patients who feel stuck in their mental health journey since it allows for communication when words are inadequate. I look forward to discovering who you are as we work together. My path to SOL Mental Health began with supporting disabled adults in the workplace. This work fueled my desire to always put patient autonomy first, above all else, in the therapeutic space. In my free time, I'm an oil painter, linocut printer, and digital artist. Fashion, movies, and live music round out my downtime.

I use a person-centered therapeutic lens, promoting self-awareness and acceptance with clients. Together, we can work to help you find self-empowerment, fulfillment, self-discovery, and growth. Maybe you're navigating a big transition, far from home for the first time, or just noticing that the way you've always coped isn't working anymore. A Stoa Therapy provider. For most families, finding a qualified speech-language pathologist means long waitlists, limited local options, and clinics that don't take their insurance. For adults navigating a voice disorder or recovering from a stroke, the barriers are just as real. We built Stoa Therapy to solve that. By delivering care over telehealth and working directly with insurance, we connect patients across Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana with SLPs who have specialized training in exactly what they need. The result is care that's easier to start, easier to sustain, and genuinely effective. Get matched, visit: https://stoa-therapy.com/

Life has a way of pulling us in more directions than we ever anticipated, and sometimes the weight of it all can make it hard to feel like yourself. With more than ten years of experience as a social worker and therapist, my work is rooted in helping people of all walks of life navigate those moments — whether you're carrying the unique pressures that come with caregiving or military service, an adult managing the demands of daily life, or simply need a little help navigating a mental health struggle. No matter what brings you here, you don't have to face it alone. Together, we'll work through anxiety, depression, grief, stress, life transitions, and self-esteem in a space that feels safe, genuine, and judgment-free. Through active listening and thoughtful conversation, my goal is for you to feel truly understood and hopeful about what lies ahead. I believe that hardship can be viewed from a lens of learning so that life can be experienced on a deeper level. That’s why I take a creative, empowering, and collaborative approach to your healing journey, not only understanding your suffering but using it to build stronger interpersonal connections. This sincere and validating relationship allows us to delve below the surface to identify the root causes of distress and create lasting change. Care is tailored to your unique vision of a brighter future and may include motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you notice improvement quickly. I was led along the therapeutic path by my spiritual beliefs highlighting the call to bring hope to a hurting world. At the same time, my own experiences as a therapy patient taught me the value of providing the highest quality of care. Together, these perspectives shape my practice now, where I remain committed to bringing competence and creativity to each session while consistently seeking feedback to ensure we are on the right track toward goal realization. Practicing gratitude, singing, and staying in touch with friends are some of my favorite self-care activities in my free time, along with listening to audiobooks, spending time in nature, walking my sweet rescue pup, and watching football. I've also grown to thoroughly enjoy eating a variety of vegetables, though I am still loyal to my sweet tooth as well!
You've done the hard thing. You made a decision to talk to someone and you're here. If you are trying to understand the depression that won't go away, even on good days, or quiet the running dialogue in your head that doesn't ever stop, I can help. I can help you manage the behaviors that you can't seem to walk away from, or teach your nervous system to relax so you don't have to feel like you're on hyper-alert all the time. If you need to talk openly about the things you've lost, or things you've seen, or just how much it hurts, I can walk with you through all of it. In my 28 years as a therapist, I have addressed several mental health issues, and consider substance use, military experience, trauma, depression, loss, grief, and spirituality, as specialties. I also offer therapy for suicidal ideation or suicide-centered issues (ideation, attempt or grief), and don't shy away from having the real conversation. I know it takes a lot to choose therapy, more so to pick a therapist. My first goal for us is to build trust, a sense of psychological safety which I value for you more than anything.
