The Raimy Psychology Clinic at the University of Colorado was founded in 1960 and has been providing affordable psychological treatment for over 40 years to adults in the Boulder County area, including University of Colorado students, faculty and staff. The Department of Psychology at the University of Colorado maintains the Raimy Clinic as a training site for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology PhD program. Graduate student therapists provide therapeutic services and are supervised by licensed psychologists and other experienced mental health professionals. The primary goal of the Clinic is to provide an introduction to clinical training for clinical psychology graduate students. The secondary goal of the Clinic is the provision of quality psychological services to the community at large. An additional goal of the Clinic is the integration of research and clinical training. Because of the training function of the Clinic, we offer psychological services at substantially reduced fees, assessed on the basis of a sliding scale, with low flat rates for full-time CU Boulder students, faculty, or staff. We are a fee for service clinic and do not accept insurance. Credit card payments are made through a secure online system. Contact the intake coordinator for more information about our services and rates. We are committed to providing services to those who are currently underserved, including economically-disadvantaged, ethnic and sexual minorities, as well as families. Services are currently provided exclusively through videoconferencing, using a confidentiality-secured, HIPAA compatible Zoom.

Feeling "not good enough"? Like no mater how hard you try, you still feel "inadequate"? You don't have to internalize this damaging societal programming. It seems to bombard us from all directions: social media, in-groups at school, family, professors, society at large. Together we'll work to replace this narrative with one of innate worthiness, internal strength, emotional intelligence, enhanced well being, and more fulfilling relationships. In addition to traditional talk therapy, we'll use proven breathing techniques and movement exercises to reduce stress, anxiety, or depression and make room for your true uninhibited self to arise.

Life is hard. Like, really hard. And you're doing all the right things; but you still feel anxious. You can't seem to stop overthinking everything. You are feeling more and more insecure and are worried about feeling like a burden to others. You've tried to rationalize your thinking, but aren't getting anywhere. And now, that inner critic has become so loud and so present, that it's hard to hear or believe anything else. This is what I often hear from clients, and I get it - I've been there too. I understand what it's like to be labelled as "sensitive" and viewing emotions as a weakness. It's hard to figure out how to feel confident in who you are while living up to others' expectations. To feel constantly worried about "doing the right thing" and struggling with feeling "selfish" when you're trying to set boundaries. I help those who are excessively worried, struggling with low self-esteem, and experiencing relational distress gain confidence in being their authentic selves. I help my clients learn how to cope with their emotional experiences while practicing self-compassion. Emotions are not our enemy; in fact, emotions have a purpose. Utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and mindfulness - I help clients learn how to use their emotions to connect with their inner selves and identify patterns and themes that wreak havoc in their lives. If you find yourself tired of feeling chronically defeated and are ready for change- it's time to start your journey of self-healing and growth.

You are here because you or someone you care about is in pain. You have come to the right place. We have all had those times when we need someone besides family and friends to talk to. People come to me for a variety of reasons: anxiety and depression, adjusting to the college transition, relationship problems, family issues, emotional and social struggles, rebuilding self-esteem, teen difficulties, general life transitions, and personal growth. My focus as an integrative psychotherapist is on holistic well-being rather than illness. We are generally born in a state of inner harmony, wholeness and health, and as we experience life’s ups and downs, our emotional state can become unbalanced. While validating challenges and offering guidance, my primary goal is to support clients in rediscovering their own inner resources to successfully move forward in a meaningful way. My approach includes an emphasis on creative potential; finding purpose and joy; growth and change; trust and respect. With empathy, warmth and practical tools, I support clients as they increase their understanding and confidence to make progress dealing with depression and isolation, anxiety and stress, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, communication challenges, boundary issues, self-esteem, life transitions, and family conflicts. I enjoy working with diverse populations of all ages and backgrounds as they gain wisdom and insight into their own lives and move toward personal empowerment and resilience. I’m particularly interested in parenting, healthy communications, life adjustments, self-awareness, and supporting caregivers whose loved ones have dementia. As a registered art therapist, I am also trained to provide a creative way for clients to express what may be hard to talk about, especially during times of crisis or difficulty. Art is universal and promotes playfulness, self-expression, and imagination. Art therapy can be a helpful addition to traditional talk therapy. It’s important that my clients feel comfortable and safe in the therapy room: seen, heard, validated, and understood. I look forward to joining you on your unique journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

I believe being a student and learning is an opportunity, and sometimes having a consistent therapist alongside can make the difference and help you get the most out of the opportunity. Being in school is not a singular thing, it’s not just about being the student in class who does assignments and gets the grade. In addition to being a student, there is one’s mental, physical, and emotional health, there are often bills to pay, and often the needs of others to meet. There are many other parts of ourselves and our lives that intersect with and function together with being in school. It can be overwhelming. It can be an adjustment. Transitions are big and important. There are our lives both in and out of school. Students are often also family members, caregivers, working individuals, or living with loss, trauma, depression, stress, or a medical illness. Students also learn differently, including some with accommodations for success. Some students find they need to confront an overwhelming need for perfection, or perhaps one is facing a particular challenge that is important to look at rather than look away. Therapy can be helpful when you are in school. I like to meet a client where they are at and begin by understanding you. I offer my warmth, and capacity to listen and to hold space even when the workable feels unworkable. I offer my experience and knowledge in counseling and in the creative art therapies, and hold value in an inclusive and affirmative lens. I enjoy working with students in higher education, meeting them in the places where school intersects with other parts of self that must be given care and attention, or to look more closely at or develop one’s career journey. I employ both talk therapy and the use of creative, expressive processes such as movement, poetry, art, music, story, and metaphor. The work is collaborative between counselor and client, being open about therapy goals and progress. I place value on your inherent strengths, and believe that we all hold motivation and an innate capacity to heal and be the very best versions of ourselves. Please call or email me to schedule a free consultation call.

I have been in private practice for 20 years, with my specialty focusing on individuals resolving historic traumas and women balancing all of the complications of womanhood in a fast paced, demanding world. In all of my therapeutic work I talk about "traumas". Traumas can be events or messages we internalize about ourselves from the past. Traumas can be brilliantly adaptive: helping us to become incredible, impressive humans. Our traumas can also hold us back in many ways that may be limiting our happiness: the other side of the proverbial coin.

Overwhelmed. Stressed Out. ANXIOUS. You keep asking yourself how you are going to get everything done. Being an adult and at college is a lot harder than you every thought. You wish you could feel happy and just have fun in college. But the pressure is on. The social pressure is there. Do you go out with friends or stay in and study? Going out you may have fun but would worry about getting homework done. But staying in you feel lonely, sad, wishing you would have gone out. Making the best decision seems impossible. But it is possible to enjoy college. To have friends. And to get your school work done. You need to learn to develop self trust to make the best decision and how to balance everything you are doing. That's where I come in. I am here to help you move past the anxiety and depression and step into a fun college experience. I will help you discover who you are at your core. Then you will have more confidence to step into the adulting world. I would be honored to be part of your journey to having fun now and gaining confidence to be who you truly are. I really like working with those who feel a bit like an outsider, not quite fitting in. Maybe you are part of the queer community, maybe you are more spiritual than everyone else you know, maybe you feel utterly lost and have no idea who you are. Schedule a free 20 min consultation right now and let me help you living an authentic and fun life. Go to the "website" to get on my calendar right now.

Clients who I work best with want to know something about themselves. They may be suffering with any number of symptoms, but also have a curiosity. Maybe there is a sense of something still to be discovered. Through my work with Inner World Building, a hands on, active, somatic therapy, the unknown can be known, felt and expressed in a way that words can't. Not sure if this approach is for you? Feel free to try a demo session and decide for yourself if the method will be useful. The base of this therapy is making, building in the sand and with the figures; not talk therapy. But talking and integrating one's experience is an additive important part of the process.
