Therapists for college students near 80204
Hello, my name is Tess Amer, LPCC and I am a clinician at iSeek Counseling. I love supporting creative and ambitious children, teens and emerging adults who are having difficulties with their relationships with peers, partners or family members. Teenage and and young adult years are a prime time to increase emotional literacy and learn to better understand yourself and your emotions. I am passionate about guiding young people in this process. Clients may come to me for relationship problems, family issues, social and emotional struggles, rebuilding self-esteem, general life transitions, and personal growth. I aim to meet my clients where they are at with empathy and compassion. I create a safe and nurturing space to embark on their therapeutic journey at their own pace and work to give them agency to mobilize changes in their life. I like working with attachment theory and my approach is client-centered, direct, non-judgemental, friendly and trauma informed. Reach out today to schedule a free consultation and start living with more clarity, intention, and joy.
Hi my name is Lucinda and I work with traditional, non-traditional, and first-generation students who are struggling with adjusting to college life, anxiety, significant life transitions, and grief/loss. Becoming a therapist is my second career. I graduated from MSU Denver with my Masters of Social Work and I'm a Clinical Social Work Candidate working towards full licensure as an LCSW. My first career was working in higher education for 14 years, mostly as an Academic Advisor. I understand how difficult it can be to attend college right out of high school or going back after a long break. It can be stressful. I want to help you navigate the uncertainties that life will throw your way while in school, while at the same time being able to be successful in achieving your academic and life goals. Let's connect and see how I can help you overcome anything that may be holding you back from the life you deserve.

Amazing personal transformations take through the therapeutic process. I’ve had the privilege of serving clients with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, anger, self-destructive behavior, trauma as well as those who just seek better coping skills or want greater insight to themselves so they can live more authentic lives of purpose and peace. My style is deeply compassionate while also being direct and directive. I do not believe in meandering, aimless therapy. I believe in structure and accountability in the therapeutic journey. Together, we set specific goals and we work towards those goals in a safe, but challenging environment.
My name is Jennifer Koch (She/Her). I am a 30 year experienced somatic mind-body oriented therapist who provides support for adolescents and adults moving through issues related to depression, anxiety, PTSD, sexual abuse survivors, medical trauma, falls/injuries, car accidents, substance use, grief/loss, LGBTQIA+ and other life transitions. Clients reach out for many reasons. Some are noticing distressing memories, fears, worry, or sadness impacting their relationships, employment, and sleep. Sometimes parents reach out concerned about their teen or college student seeming more withdrawn or overwhelmed at school/college or home. Some clients are feeling pressure to be perfect and keep up with life’s demands. Some are feeling stuck and unable to move their life forward and accomplish their personal or professional goals. I believe wholeheartedly in the resilience and capacity of our nervous systems to heal and move beyond past/current challenges we face with the right support. Please email me or call to schedule a free 15 minute telephone consultation call to explore if we are a good match for the support you are needing at this time. If so, we will schedule your initial visit in-person or via telehealth.

I believe in a holistic approach where mind, body, emotion and spiritual life is all taken into account. Our center is dedicated to bringing you evidence-based treatments for a wide variety of life's problems. These include depression, anxiety, and insomnia. We provide effective and compassionate individual and group therapy. How we help our clients Our philosophy is to provide a warm and engaging approach to teaching our clients the skills they need to overcome their challenges and to lead more fulfilling lives. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented, practical, and collaborative approach that helps patients change their behavior, mood, thoughts, and relationships. Therapists select techniques that are individualized for each client and may include mindfulness, exposure, and experiential exercises. We help our clients become better aware of the way their negative thoughts affect their mood, self-esteem, and relationships. Our therapists are expertly trained in a variety of cognitive and behavioral therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
College life and young adulthood is an exciting AND challenging stage of life! The thrill of independence is countered by the weight of adult responsibilities, the excitement of relationships also comes with challenges, and hopes for the future can be weighed down by current stressors and unresolved issues from the past. I love working with young adults as they navigate new challenges, heal from past wounds, and work towards a meaningful future. I work with clients using traditional talk therapy approaches and a modality called Brainspotting, which incorporates mindfulness, body awareness, and acceptance. Together, these interventions are helpful for a wide range of emotional issues.
My belief is that everyone can benefit from therapy and having the support of an unbiased person to talk to. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on the belief that our thoughts create our feelings, and that if we change our negative thinking our feelings will change. CBT teaches that it is not the event which causes the emotion (and our behavioral reaction) but the meaning we give that event - or what we think ABOUT that event. There are many powerful tools that have been developed to help you change your negative thoughts and feelings. Working with a Mental Health Therapist will help you learn how to use those tools to make changes in your life and relationships. Negative distorted thoughts tell us “once everything falls into place, I will feel peace”. Therapy helps you find your peace and then everything falls into place.
As your therapist, I value being fully present, understanding, and authentic as I get to know you and your goals. I am currently a SWC (Clinical Social Worker Candidate) who received my MSW from University of Denver and Bachelor’s in Psychology from CU Boulder. I have experience working with all age groups and have found passion for building a therapeutic relationship with my clients that feels safe, engaging, and real. I primarily use EMDR with clients and am trained in EMDR and flash technique. Some of the other theories and interventions I enjoy and work from include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Trauma Focused. I believe that all humans deserve a place to process and navigate the challenges of life and I hope to create that space during my sessions. I understand that finding a therapist can be a challenge, so I hope to chat with you to make sure that you feel I am a good fit.

Now welcoming new clients. I have a passion for working with clients who come from complex family systems and are ready to break away and heal from harmful generational patterns. Clients come to me when they are struggling to re-connect with the authentic version of themselves and/or want to heal from relational wounds and deepen their connection with others. It can be hard to exist authentically in the world due to trauma, societal expectations, and systemic concerns, but becoming the best version of yourself is possible. I utilize an empathetic, humanistic, and strength-based approach. I recognize that all of my clients are unique and, as such, have diverse wants, needs, goals, and expectations of self. I will meet you where you are at, help you identify what the best version of yourself looks like, and help to unpack the roadblocks along the way. I believe in humanizing the experience of therapy and view the therapist-client relationship as an active agent for change. To share your vulnerabilities, fears, and apprehensions with someone is courageous and it is my honor to walk alongside you on this journey!

I am a mindfulness-based trauma and addiction psychotherapist in clinical practice for almost two decades. My style is relational and attachment-oriented, pulling from psychodynamic theory. I also strongly ascribe to both behavioral and spiritual modalities that emphasize the importance of cultivating connection to Self, others, and the world around us. In addition, I am most passionate about "bottom-up" approaches, which emphasize the mind-body connection as it relates to somatic embodiment and polyvagal theory. I show up with curiosity and gentle inquiry to join in the process that unfolds. I hold a lot of gratitude to be a witness to so many tender and courageous stories, believing my clients have been the most profound teachers. I am credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP II). I have provided individual and group psychotherapy in a variety of settings (inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment programs, outpatient clinics) before opening my own practice. This has included program development and implementation, helping to create evidenced-based, safe, and effective containers for clients and clinicians alike to do their best work. I am so grateful to have cultivated a truly rich set of clinical experiences, learning best from all the people I've had the absolute honor to work with. I've witnessed such incredible transformation! Beyond micro-level clinical work, I love supervising and providing consultation for clinicians as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and facilitating organizational trainings or in-services. I also provide field practicum supervision for students and am an adjunct faculty within the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver.
