Therapists for college students near San Francisco State University
Hi! I’m Nadine! My mission is to help you course-correct to a life you feel comfortable with. We are going to research what lights you up, what feels wrong or miserable, and why this is going on for you right now. Then we will create small steps you can take towards feeling better. This hopelessness won’t last forever. And you will feel confident and competent again. You are in the middle, and the middle is always shitty and confusing, and disorienting. Together we can find where you are getting stuck. We can work on ways to help you get grounded and remember who you are. I will help you stretch and strengthen your ability to feel and navigate the big emotions that arise while narrating your story of trauma.
Hello, I am a psychologist with over 20 years of experience in the field. I have a couple of openings this spring/summer! My experience has allowed me to bring a deeper perspective to situations, and I know the value of giving that feedback to my clients. Do you want help with relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss & grief, life transitions, cultural/racial issues, health problems and substance use? Send me a message and I'd be glad to do a free consult call with you. If I'm not the right therapist for you, I'm happy to give you some names of colleagues. I use a variety of approaches like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic and Existential therapies. I'm licensed in Colorado, California and 42 other states through PsyPact. That means when you go home for the summer/breaks and it's likely I'll be licensed in your home state!

Living with intense and debilitating feelings may leave you with a sense of overwhelm, hopelessness, and anger. You may have conflicts in your relationships, hold resentments, or try your best to manage with unsuccessful ways of coping. Do you have a hard time feeling safe or heard in your relationships, or trusting your intuition? You deserve a safe and supportive relationship to heal the impact of life. I help highly emotional and high conflict persons manage their intense emotional experiences, understand the causes, and learn alternative ways to cope so they can navigate life and relationships with greater satisfaction. My work is uniquely tailored to you and infuses aspects of evidence-based therapies with genuine feedback to help you gain awareness of patterns that keep you stuck and assist in moving you from surviving to thriving. As we connect, we may walk through the mud together, identify practical skills to manage the chaos of life, discover and develop your sense of inner wisdom, and navigate what keeps you stuck and why. We might even share a few laughs together. Whatever you find yourself struggling with, I invite you to no longer suffer alone.
If you are a young adult who is considering college, in college or existing and navigating the real-world, I am here for you. I provide a candid and non-judgmental space for college-aged youth to explore who you are and who you are becoming; to be true to self while navigating external pressures. My work is a combination of therapy, coaching, and mentorship to help you increase self-awareness, identify blind spots, practice communication and conflict resolution skills and negotiate external pressures. I support you to ultimately trust yourself while staying connected to peers, and to feel more effective in navigating all of life’s decisions, big and small. I support you with stressors associated with a high academic load, sexual experimentation and sexual pressures, social pressures, individuation from parents, major and career confusion and questions about identity and purpose. I am direct, genuine and collaborative, and bring a natural curiosity and empathy to my work with clients. I use a relational and somatic depth-oriented therapeutic approach with a focus on present moment bodily and emotional experience to help you work through hard places, release emotional blocks and feel more creative and free in your life.

Welcome! Ahlan Wa Sahlan! I know how difficult it can be to begin this journey, so I'm glad you are here. I focus on providing care for women and femmes, migrants and refugees, children of migrants, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals. I am committed to supporting survivors of traumatic experiences as they navigate their healing journeys. Whether you are coming in with experiences of PTSD, depression, anxiety, OCD, or other trauma-related symptoms, I am delighted to navigate this road with you. I believe each person I work with deserves an approach that is uniquely tailored to them, so my therapeutic approach is an eclectic one. I have received robust training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic psychotherapy. You can expect therapy with me to be open, warm, and curious. That means providing a safe container for all of your thoughts, feelings and experiences without shame. I am also a strong believer that none of us exist in isolation from the many systems we live within. All of your identities are welcome here, and your cultural heritage(s) will be embraced.
As a BIPOC and LGBTQ affirming practice, we treat trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, and other mental health issues from a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed perspective. We understand that having a therapist who lived it themselves is so much more important than having one who just read about it in a book. That's why we emphasize culture in our practice of mental health and always welcome the whole client. We primarily use CBT and EMDR as models for therapy. CBT is great for understanding how your unhelpful thoughts and hurt feelings lead to negative behaviors so we can replace them with positive ones. EMDR holds a mirror up to you and your emotional and physical experiences so you can have more self-awareness and answer your own questions. Our clients come to us when they need to feel like themselves again, set better boundaries, and end toxic relationships; and we're looking forward to helping you with the same issues. We will walk with you on your path to healing. It's easy to get lost on that path. Luckily, our experience and compassion are the GPS!

I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist who focuses on real ways to change the ways you feel about yourself and your life. Together you will learn tools to use to change your thoughts, tools that you can take with you and use for the rest of your life. I practice with you in session, and provide homework for you to do outside of our sessions for additional reinforcement. In addition to helping people struggling with depression or bipolar disorder, I also focus on supporting families who have a loved one with a mental health issue. This might mean helping them connect to treatment, or focus on the ways that their own interactions contribute to the problem. I help people decrease codependency, and focus on their own lives and wellness. I also specialize in helping families who are experiencing infertility. I meet individually or with couples who are experiencing this problem, and help them navigate treatment as well as the multitude of emotions that come from struggling to create a family. As someone who experienced this problem myself, I speak the language and know the grief that comes with this unexpected and difficult challenge.
