Are you struggling with intense anxiety, frequent worry, or obsessive thoughts? Do you avoid important activities because of your anxiety? Do you find it difficult to enjoy life and pursue goals because of these problems? We all experience anxiety sometimes, but if it interferes with your social life, daily functioning, or work I want you to know there is hope. I'm an experienced psychologist with a passion for helping people suffering from anxiety, worry, OCD, insomnia, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and depression. In the context of a caring and supportive relationship, let's work together on tools to combat these problems. Research has found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Therapy are effective treatments for anxiety and depression. The CBT techniques I utilize will help you feel happier, content, less worried and anxious. Clients who are willing to work hard experience improvements in just a few months, and often retain these gains after therapy has ended.

Are you a person of color, LGBTQ, or woman-identified student in medicine or science? Have you been wearing that superhero cape for far too long? Ready to feel more peace in your life? You’ve come to the right place. I’m Dr. Lindsey Brooks and I work with underrepresented achievers. I’ll help you feel more grounded, balanced, and resilient. In my former position at UCSF Student Health, I worked with hundreds of students on these issues and I'd be thrilled to offer you support. I accept the Lyra Health Plan which now provides in-network benefits for all University of California students. Everyone around you sees you as a success, yet something still feels like it’s missing. We will work together to help you feel more at ease, empowered, and maybe even allow yourself to be imperfect once in a while. Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been working in the mental health field since 2008. I have had my own private practice since 2019. My goal is always to meet clients where they are and to be as helpful as possible in the process. I work with children, teens, adults, parents, and couples using practical, evidence-based approaches. I focus on individual, family, and community-based strengths in order to create a foundation for lasting change. I also have specialized experience in treating young children with behavior problems, as well as individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-harm, sexual identity, and trauma-related issues. I aim to help my clients feel supported and validated, but also feel a sense of trust and belonging when they are in a session with me. My general philosophy is to meet clients where they are and go from there in terms of how I can be the most helpful.
Pain can quietly shape your life and sense of self, even when things look “fine” from the outside. It may show up as anxiety, depression, grief, anger, low self-esteem, substance use, or painful relationship patterns. You might notice yourself longing for closeness while also pulling away, or repeating dynamics you don’t fully understand. You may be navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, or longstanding attachment patterns that continue to surface in the present. Even when you can make sense of your experiences, something may still feel unresolved or unmoved. Together, we take time to know you and to understand how you experience yourself and others—how you relate, protect, and respond to closeness and emotion. We also pay attention to patterns as they emerge in your life and in therapy. My style is warm, collaborative, and relational. Our work supports greater awareness and a sense of safety, gradually loosening what has felt fixed so new possibilities can emerge. You’re welcome to reach out for a complimentary consultation. I reserve a few sliding scale spots for college students. Please reach out for more info.

Even baddies get saddies — and anxiety, right? I get it as I’ve been there and it’s no fun trying to figure things out yourself. Therapy with me isn't about finding a band-aid to make your feelings go away. We’ll take time to understand why you feel, experience, and express emotions the way you do. Don't worry, we’ll go at a pace you feel comfortable with, if/when you're ready to go there. Finding ways to deal with the worries, sadness, stress, burnout, and self-doubts is another important part of therapy and isn’t one-size-fits-all. We’ll take time to unpack everything and tailor things to what your needs are. There are probably things, like old memories and experiences, that have stuck with you for some time. They might impact your self-esteem, your relationships, and how you move about in your life on a daily basis. We’ll work through any obstacles to help you move forward by taming that self-judgy voice of yours and so much more. If any of this sounds relatable at all, let’s schedule a brief phone or video call to see if we'd vibe together. You could tell me more about what you’ve been dealing with and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. I'll share with you how we could work towards your goals together.
